There is one major distinction between white walkers and wights: the white walkers themselves, unlike the wights, are living beings. That's why it is rather difficult to make new white walkers, as they must get their hands on living humans. Craster gave them easy access to this, and in return the white walkers left him alone.
And yes, the white walker babies presumably grow up.

The Targaryen prince that Olenna was supposed to marry was prince Daeron Targaryen, son of Aegon v.
Daeron was actually the one who called off the wedding because he was gay, preferring Ser Jeremy.

In the books, the gate through which Sam and Bran passed in the Nightfort is a bit different.
It has the name "Black Gate" and is hidden and hardly known to anyone.
The gate is made of white weirwood and has a face just like the trees.
It glows like moonlight and when you want to pass the gate it asks who you are.
Only a brother of the Night's Watch can answer it by saying his oath.
When you do that, the lips of the gate open and you can pass through the mouth to the other side of the wall.

    • @smailom1170

According to legend, the Night's King also ruled in the Nightfort.
He was the 13th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.
He is said to have seen a woman on the top of the wall with skin as pale as the moon and blue glowing eyes.
He gave her his seed and declared himself king and she queen and ruled for 13 years.
During his reign he is said to have committed abominable acts and to have offered sacrifices to the White Walkers. He was finally defeated by the King in the North and Joramun, the King Beyond the Wall.
His name was forever banished from history, but it is rumored that the Night's King was a Stark, the brother of the King in the North.
A very widely believed theory in the fandom is that the Night's King sacrificed his children, whom he fathered with the woman who herself appears to be an Other (White Walker), to the Others.
It is believed that one of these children, who could be saved, later became King in the North.
This would mean that all descendants up to the Starks of the present time have the "blood of the Others".
So that means the Starks would be promised to the Others.
Edit: The Nightking shown in the show is someone else.
They just took the name, but he has nothing else to do with the person I told about.

I really liked the dynamic between Jamie & Brienne. I felt like perhaps Jamie didn’t act on it because he didn’t want to endanger Brienne if Cersei found out.

    • @leone41ll
      @leone41ll 3 місяці тому

Not every story has to end in "romance". Brienne eventually fell for Jaime yes, but Jaime always admired Brienne as a paragon of Knighthood, whilst having a mind for nuance regarding grey aspects of life and oaths. The woman he finds attractive is his sister.
His admiration for Brienne is beautiful and steels Jaime in his effort to shed the King-slayer persona. He has no such admiration for Cersei, just a canal desire.
This admiration for Brienne doesn't have to be "less" than ridiculous "love stories". In fact, i think its greater and pure. Sexual "love" isn't benevolent - easily the most shallow form of "love". The reason humans perpetuate this nonsense, and why its suffocated our media is because its a narrative that aligns with the animal instincts for survival - to reproduce.
But aren't we human beings? Do we not claim dominion over all forms of life? Isn't there supposed to be a spark of divinity within us? Are we not meant to be unique, individuals? And yet, we act like mindless fodder, no better than the "animals" we consume for food.

Conqueror is what you're saying about Daenerys. She's a great conqueror but hasn't demonstrated she can manage a kingdom once the fighting is done. I think that's a great point...Robert would have likely had the same issue if not for the alliances he formed.

well of course Robb's going to make mistakes, he was 17 commanding an entire army inexperienced, but he still managed to outsmart Tywin in every battle and Tywin is one of the most seasoned battle commanders ever. Could you imagine what Robb went through? His father got killed, his bestfriend he considered his brother destroyed and ruined his family home and b*rnt his two little brothers alive (or so he thought), Arya was thought to be dead since no one had heard from her and his other sister, his only "living" sister had married into the family that was responsible for the death of their father. Imagine knowing all of this and still having to push through, not having time to grieve at all at such a young age.

I think it's that as a soldier he reacts to death differently. Nothing you can do for the ones who are gone. Redirect your grief into actions to make a difference. Maybe even be a better person or build a better world for your surviving children.
I think he honors his first born son in a different way than Cersei's misplaced sense of vengeance. I don't see it as detached. He spent most of this episode making choices to help, to try to prevent more bloodshed, and ultimately to have an honorable and peaceful reign for Tommen.

@@baronhomer1 "Fear and vengeance is all she is"? I think you have a big misunderstanding about this character.
First of all, reconquering Westeros, taking revenge on the great houses and re-establishing the Targaryen dynasty was Viserys' dream, not Daenerys'.
You can see a clear difference between the two characters.
Viserys is mad, vengeful and irascible.
Daenerys has never known Westeros. How will she exact revenge on something she never knew?
Daenerys grew up without a home and was constantly fleeing from city to city, place to place.
What her heart really wants is a home, refuge and safety. Continuously in Daenerys chapters you read about the house with the red door symbolizing this desire.
GRRM often talks about the heart in conflict with itself, that this is the only thing worth writing for.
It is the same with Daenerys.
Look at her deeds and you see that this heart's desire is always the root of her deeds.
She frees the slaves not because she wants the power of the slave masters for herself, but because she sees herself in the slaves.
She tries to give them what she never had.
Otherwise, she could have simply accepted the gift of the Yunkish slave masters. She would have had gold and ships. She could have gone directly to Westeros.
But it speaks against her morals, against her heart.
It is not vengeance and fear that make up her character, but her desire for refuge and safety, for a HOME.

So in this episode they pretty much confirm what you figured out last time. To recap : Olenna walks up to Sansa, brushes her hair and neck sympathetically while consoling her for her losses. Her last words to her are "War is war, but killing a man at a wedding? What sort of a monster would do such a thing." That is when she takes out the poison vial. In the book it's never fully clear who killed Joffrey. But in terms of the show this episode makes it clear Maergery was not involved. Maergery would not have given up the chance to become Queen, even if it meant marrying Joffrey. But Olenna had the long game in mind. Instead of ruling with Joffrey or killing him after consummation which would've pointed all the fingers at the new Queen, she decided to hedge her bet on the younger boy. Someone much easier to manipulate. That is the motive.

Tywin is king of Westeros in all but name only. He may not wear the crown, but he holds the most powerful position in Westeros. Tommen is more or less a figurehead filling in a seat. He's not good at battle tactics, or at least as good as those like Robert, Ned, and Robb, but he is a peerless statesman. He knows how to move pieces and make decisions that benefit him and he's yet to have been outsmarted in terms of political maneuvers. In fact, his brilliance in politics is mostly why he defeated The Starks. Give The Freys Riverun and The Boltons Winterfell and on top of that make The Iron Islands their problem.
I did feel Dany acted harsher than she needed to. Her biggest flaw is that everything is black and white; she sees no grey areas. While some of the masters are terrible people who enslaved thousands and murdered children, it's unfair to assume all of them were evil. In Rome, Egypt, etc. not all slaves had terrible lives, some even had better lives than commoners. In some cases said slaves were freed upon their master's death. Of course slavery is wrong and inhumane on the mere principle of how we should treat each other, but GOT has a lot of grey areas with its characters.
Petyr agreed to aid Olenna as they both had a common interest. Petyr was deeply grieved by Catelyn's death, but also knew he could snatch Sansa for himself and therefore hold the key to The North. Baelish acted out of both revenge and ambition. Olenna partook in the assassination only to protect Margery from Joffrey since she knew both from Sansa and first hand experience that he was a monster in a human meat suit. Tommen would both be a healthier partner and an easier to control king for them. One of the few times I actually was glad Petyr got a win, because Joffrey needed to go.
This is one of the few times we see an ounce of humanity from Rast. He did not like leaving that baby out there and of course they needed to remind us that he is an ass with how he taunted Ghost XD. As for Craster, we now know why the Whitewalkers do not harm him; he adds to their numbers. And yeah, say hello to Ice Darth Maul. :P

    1. You right. Locke is looking for Bran and Rickon. Roose Bolton figures they will make their way towards the Wall and Jon. So Locke is trying to intercept them before they do, or steal them from right under Jon.
    2. Jamie never patented his children. He never grew close to them because to do so might arrouse suspicion. And to do that might get them killed. All of them, including him and Cersei. So, he is not as affected as Cersei about Joffreys death. Also, he is somewhat upset about it.
    3. Yes that was Jamie's sword. Remember Tywin had 2 made from Ned's sword Ice. He gave one to Jamie and the other to Joffrey.
    4. Ser Alliser is an asshole, but he does have the interest of the Night's Watch at heart. He's just 100% wrong about it.
    5. Major... meet the Night King. White Walkers aren't dead. They are like Frost Giants from Norse Mythology. They are a different race. A magical race. They are Necromancers. Meaning they control the dead, but they aren't dead themselves. Just thousands and thousands of years old. There was 12 white Walkers. And the Night King leads them. Sam's nemesis was just a regular white Walker.
    6. All you need to know about Baelish is his most famous quote. "Chaos is a ladder." He creates mayhem just to rise in the ranks. That's it. He wants power, wealth, and Sansa.

You are referring to the Great Lords of Westeros. Robert of the House Baratheon was a Warrior, and a Great Lord. As for the best Fighter in all the realm was not Ser Barristain "The Bold" Selmy, but Ser Arthur Dayne "The Sword Of the Morning". It was Ned Stark who was sent to Dorne after the Siege of Storms End had been lifted, and it was told that he slew Ser Arthur Dayne " The Sword of the Morning" in single combat. That is why Jaime want to 1v1 Ned so Bad, bc Ser Arthur was Jaimie's Idol.
Also The reason Ser Allister hates Jon is because Ser Allister fought for the Targaryen's on the Trident, and when Rheagar fell he was Pardoned by Robert Baratheon to the wall for his allegiance.

    YAY, Maj!!
It's pretty startling seeing The Night King for the first time, isn't it - especially holding a newborn! 🥶
Yes, Allister Thorne is a real prick! He hates Jon because he knows he's a good soldier and the men love him, but MOSTLY because Jon's father, Ned, actually sent Thorne to The Wall!
I'm sure if you think about it, you'll remember that Bolton sent Locke to EastWatch to see if Bran and Rickon were there with Jon...
GREAT REACTION - just PLEASE don't make us wait so long - we MISS YA TOO MUCH! ❤

I know how much you respect Tywin so I suggest you watch a video called unique cut scene from series 3 game of thrones. Although it was cut it is brilliant scene in which Tywin not only calls out maester Pycell on acting old but also backs Tyrions decisions as acting hand.

You are SO MUCH more perceptive than the reactors I’ve watched. Noticing the dialog that cuts to a hint or foreshadow, like Littlefinger talking about his “predictable” new friends - CUT to Lady O (Queen of Thorns as she is nicknamed). Most viewers don’t pick those things up. Now that you have, be on alert, they use that technique alot! Even if it doesn’t pay off right away like that one. Some take a few seasons. And I’ve seen a many not recognize that is Bolton’s man, Lock. So 👏🏼! The attention to detail makes watching reactions videos more fun, because you want to see those things realized. ps yes Jamie imho is very much in love with Brienne 🥰

It’s amazing how consistently people seem to forget who Locke is once he’s at the wall.
The other big one is Yorne, when he grabs Arya at the Sept of Baelor.
And many times Slynt once he’s posted at the Wall.

Jaime admires Brienne but he loves Cersei. They've been together for over 4 decades and had 3 children together. Its past his control at this point, she consumes him. If you remember the only thing that kept him pushing after losing his hand, his identity was the thought of cersei... Its always been cersei. He knows how hateful and how wrong she is for him but he still loves her unconditionally and more then anyone else. His world revolves around her, shes like an addiction.

Joffrey would had to go sooner or later. He was getting more confident and each time he was becoming more vicious and dangerous. We saw in the dwarf play, and how he humiliates every major noble house. Lady Olenna knew that there was a chance that Joffrey could turn against Margaery and started a war. We all know how impulsive Loras is. And if he found that if Joffrey was mistreating Margaery... who knows what we could do to him. So Lady Olenna prevented a future war! But once Cersei accuse Tyrion, there was nothing Olenna could do. Her hands were tied, despite she didnt wanted, but with Tyrion accusation there was nothing that could trace back to Tyrells. Tyrells play a different game... The rose may not be a fear sigil, but grows strong!
Baelish knew that Joffrey was a problem, and very dangerous to deal. He was too much unpredictable and did things at his own interest and not for others. Joffrey easily could turn against Baelish just to get some amusenmt. Joffrey didnt wanted to know the consequences of his acts, even if he was the reason for the North revolution. So once Baelish knew Tyrells wanted to take Joffrey down. He join. we just dont know, if sansa was his reward gived by Tyrells or if Baelish took this oportunity to himself.

    Jaime and Joffrey explained below:
A Storm of Swords - Jaime IX: : ( His Last chance for honor )
..............."There was a time that I would have given my right hand to wield a sword like that. Now it appears I have, so the blade is wasted on me. Take it." Before she could think to refuse, he went on. "A sword so fine must bear a name. It would please me if you would call this one Oathkeeper. One more thing. The blade comes with a price."
Her face darkened. "I told you, I will never serve . . ."
". . . such foul creatures as us. Yes, I recall. Hear me out, Brienne. Both of us swore oaths concerning Sansa Stark. Cersei means to see that the girl is found and killed, wherever she has gone to ground . . ."
Brienne's homely face twisted in fury. "If you believe that I would harm my lady's daughter for a sword, you-"
"Just listen," he snapped, angered by her assumption. "I want you to find Sansa first, and get her somewhere safe. How else are the two of us going to make good our stupid vows to your precious dead Lady Catelyn?"
    The wench blinked. "I . . . I thought . . ."
"I know what you thought." Suddenly Jaime was sick of the sight of her. She bleats like a bloody sheep. "When Ned Stark died, his greatsword was given to the King's Justice," he told her. "But my father felt that such a fine blade was wasted on a mere headsman. He gave Ser Ilyn a new sword, and had Ice melted down and reforged. There was enough metal for two new blades. You're holding one. So you'll be defending Ned Stark's daughter with Ned Stark's own steel, if that makes any difference to you."
    "Ser, I . . . I owe you an apolo . . ."
He cut her off. "Take the bloody sword and go, before I change my mind. There's a bay mare in the stables, as homely as you are but somewhat better trained. Chase after Steelshanks, search for Sansa, or ride home to your isle of sapphires, it's naught to me. I don't want to look at you anymore."
    "Jaime . . ."
"Kingslayer," he reminded her. "Best use that sword to clean the wax out of your ears, wench. We're done."
"You say Sansa killed him. Why protect her?"
Because Joff was no more to me than a squirt of seed in Cersei's cunt. And because he deserved to die. "I have made kings and unmade them. Sansa Stark is my last chance for honor." Jaime smiled thinly. "Besides, kingslayers should band together. Are you ever going to go?"
Her big hand wrapped tight around Oathkeeper. "I will. And I will find the girl and keep her safe. For her lady mother's sake. And for yours." She bowed stiffly, whirled, and went.

On Jamie not feeling Joffrey's death as deeply or the way Cersei does - I think he feels it deeply. Just as he's felt all his family ties deeply. He shows his emotions differently. I also think as a soldier, he doesn't mourn in the same way.
I think he, like many people when they lose a hold, use that as a reason to be a better person. Some people it drives them to a place where nothing matters. For others it makes them devoted to being better to the family that remains.
