As for the unsullied. VA nurse here. People without functioning genitals still feel longing, a need for intmacy, and even sexual and romantic desire. The need for human affection and contact doesn't change. How a person can go about having arousal and release differs. Ear play is big with paraplegics.
How they satisfy a partner changes but still can be done. Grey worm seems pretty handy.

I think u missed it, but the biggest part of the Cersei prophecy is where the witch says: "gold will be their shrouds", shrouds = burial clothes for funerals, basically implying shes going to have to bury all of her children.

I loved your excitement with Stannis when he offered the wildlings amnesty. Stannis is such a complicated character, more so in the books but that's a different discussion lol
One of my favorite passage he says from the books:
_"Lord Seaworth is a man of humble birth, but he reminded me of my duty, when all I could think of was my rights. I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne."_

He talked his way out of some shit in season one, made a couple of good plays in season 2, but we sort of overlooked all his missteps and miscalculations that eventually put him in his current situation.

A solid opening episode with a lotta good dialogue. Mance and Jon "is their survival more important than your pride?" and "freedom to make my own mistake is all I ever wanted"... both those lines cut deep and sets up the ethical conundrums to come. Tyrion and Varys always entertaining as a duo. Brienne and Sansa so close and yet so far. The talk between Cersei and Jaime kinda hints to the fear that their position is not so secure anymore and the sharks have tasted blood in the water. Speaking of which, Maergery looked devious as ever during that brief scene with Loras. Wonder what plots are being hatched in King's Landing.

She was a spoiled entailed prick when she was younger, but that prophecy, that her husband was going to have children that weren’t hers, and that a young new queen was gonna take everything from her, and that her kids were all going to die, goes a long way toward explaining a lot of Cersei’s behaviors, actions, and motivations behind her schemes.

But Shireen Baratheon has hair of gold (dirty blonde) and both her dad and mother have hair on black. So blonde genes do appear in the Baratheon family line. Oops.

I was never a member of the ***** fan club, so I'm nowhere near down on what happens at the very end of this season as some of the hardcores who always had an axe to grind make it out to be. This was truly a generational show. I still remember the incredible scale of interest it was generating at this time. It was the 'it' show, the topic of water cooler talk. Good times, good times. There's a reason why so many countless fans were so emotionally invested in it by this time.

I have never understood why people put so much faith in any and every thing draped as prediction or magic in this world. As if it is always some truth from the great beyond and not what we have demonstrably seen as often as wonderful things. That the god are c**ts, that magicians/witches do and say horrible things for their own purposes, and as much as anyone thinks they know - they know nothing.
Dragons were supposed to gone. They aren't. Maggi would have said anything after the Dothraki raided her village to get revenge. The creepy magicians at the house of the Undying. Even what's his name the master in Kings landing who pretends to be more feeble than he is. Never mind leech lady.
Just saying. Acting as if no one lies on this show is like thinking no one can get killed off.

I've come to love the thematic darkness of this season during rewatches. It's intense, it's depressing, it has a lot of the dreary snowed out visuals that create this feeling of an enchanting nightmare winter. The bleakness of the theme is complimented by an equally bleak cinematography, which is the best part of this emotionally exhausting season. Plus it has one of my all time favorite episodes🥶. I'm not as hung up over the ending obviously, but you just gotta let the story play out, see what happens next. I'm more of a "soak in the atmosphere" type a person. The positives far outweigh the negatives and a testament to that is how absurdly popular and part of the cultural zeitgeist GoT was around this time.

The girl with young Cersei is Melara hetherspoon.....After leaving the witch's hut, they headed home they stopped at a well where heather either fell or was pushed; she screamed for Cersei to help her , Cersei left her there to die because Melara had the audacity to ask the witch if she will marry Jaime Lannister.
A Feast for Crows - Cersei III : Cersei's Dream.
....Whenever Cersei looked at the old crone, the face of Maggy the Frog seemed to float before her eyes, wrinkled and terrible and wise. All old women look alike, she tried to tell herself, that's all it is. In truth, the bent-back sorceress had looked nothing like the Queen of Thorns, yet somehow the sight of Lady Olenna's nasty little smile was enough to put her back in Maggy's tent again. ..............She dreamt an old dream, of three girls in brown cloaks, a wattled crone, and a tent that smelled of death.
The crone's tent was dark, with a tall peaked roof. She did not want to go in, no more than she had wanted to at ten, but the other girls were watching her, so she could not turn away.
They were three in the dream, as they had been in life. Fat Jeyne Farman hung back as she always did. It was a wonder she had come this far.
Melara Hetherspoon was bolder, older, and prettier, in a freckly sort of way. Wrapped in roughspun cloaks with their hoods pulled up, the three of them had stolen from their beds and crossed the tourney grounds to seek the sorceress. Melara had heard the serving girls whispering how she could curse a man or make him fall in love, summon demons and foretell the future.
You could smell sickness on her if you stood too close, and when she spoke her breath was strange and strong and foul. "Begone," she told the girls, in a croaking whisper.
"We came for a foretelling," young Cersei told her.
"Begone," croaked the old woman, a second time.
"We heard that you can see into the morrow," said Melara. "We just want to know what men we're going to marry."
"Begone," croaked Maggy, a third time.
Listen to her, the queen would have cried if she had her tongue. You still have time to flee. Run, you little fools!
The girl with the golden curls put her hands upon her hips. "Give us our foretelling, or I'll go to my lord father and have you whipped for insolence."
"Please," begged Melara. "Just tell us our futures, then we'll go."
"Some are here who have no futures," Maggy muttered in her terrible deep voice. She pulled her robe about her shoulders and beckoned the girls closer. "Come, if you will not go. Fools. Come, yes. I must taste your blood."...................."I get three questions too," her friend insisted. And when Cersei tugged upon her arm, she wriggled free and turned back to the crone.
"Will I marry Jaime?" she blurted out.
You stupid girl, the queen thought, angry even now. Jaime does not even know you are alive. Back then her brother lived only for swords and dogs and horses . . . and for her, his twin.
"Not Jaime, nor any other man," said Maggy. "Worms will have your maidenhead. Your death is here tonight, little one. Can you smell her breath? She is very close.".............

Even if Tyrion is somewhat a good man there was a time where he still enjoyed the spoils of war and living off his family name. He could act like an asshole towards people and get away with it which he did several times. Basically he could afford to be a good man because he was privileged and knew it. Just a thought! If I took a beating by the Hound AND lost Arya, I'd be crabby with everyone...... especially without any pain medication or alcohol to lessen the pain while I recover. She's lucky nothing got broken. I'm sure Padrick couldn't help her with that either. haha.

This is where, as a book reader, it gets harder and harder to ignore certain character arcs getting watered down and cheapened. I don't often continue watching reactors past this point but I've enjoyed yours so much I gotta keep going to see how you take the arcs that are still going strong. I'm curious too, how you take stuff as it starts to fall off the wagon. Have you ever gone back after all this and read the books? Or listened to the audiobooks if you don't have much reading time (that's how I consume books as I've gotten older and busier anyway!) I think you would really love them, Major. George has such a beautiful way of weaving stories together.

The books made this clear, but the show missed the mark completely: the Free Folk choose whom they follow. If Mance kneels and looses their respect, they will simply not follow him anymore. He wasn't a monarch in the Westerosi sense. His people aren't ethically obliged to obey him.
Jon tried to make this clear to Stannis in the novels.

Even when she was a child, Cersei was an obnoxious little brat, lol. As far as the Lannisters are concerned now, the two best brains have gone, it was Tywin who people were really in fear of, so it will be interesting to see how well they fare without The Old Lion.

25:30 If you re-watch season 1, you'll see it. You just missed it with all the other big plot elements happening at the same time.
Ned told Cersei that he knew about her kids being Jaime. This make Cersei press her hand and order for Robert to be killed earlier than planned so that he doesn't find out her treachery. She told cousin Lancel to keep him drunk and he was drinking STRONG WINE. STRONG WINE is basically liquor, it's the strongest you can get.

The one question i had after watching this episode was: Was the story Cerci told Catelyn Stark about her son with Robert dying young true? She said this after Bran "fell".
Cerci said her boy was dark haired, but that witch at the beginning said Cerci only had 3 children, so was she lying to Catelyn? Which i would believe.

    Whaddup Major! Whaddup Major Fam!
Man I just had family down for a week, got a few days off and more family comin down! It’s been a minute since I left you any nuggets so here we go:
Yeah you gotta figure it’s just Cersei and Jaime left (aside from the children) the power that comes with Tywins name is gone they are kinda defenseless. They have to make a move to ensure the future of their house.
So that’s Elia Martell with Cersei in the woods with the witch. The same time period as Oberyns speech with Tyrion about him being a monster. But he was “just a baby”
I remember not caring for Stannis either. But about this time in the show I started to warm to him, too. He’s a fascinating tactician. Cold and ruthless. But fair and firm.
Tywins death affects the entire realm, really. No one is safe. And they movin in QUICK
Sansa just gets more gorgeous from here on out. Like she is just breathtaking.
When Danerys gets pissed she gets this flat bored tone and her face turns to stone. You can tell when you on thin ice. Emilia Clarke who plays her is a phenomenal actress. Everything shows on her face.
And Danerys while yes never having trained the dragons, she’s never had anyone of her lineage be able to tell her how. Targaryens could ride dragons, yes, but they only ever flew one. In the books, the Starks have a mental link with their wolves (wargs, confirmed by GRRM), and the same goes for the Targaryens and their dragons (dragons minds are not able to be warged into but they know what their riders want)
Even tho Jon’s arrow was to save a King his dignity, it could have negative effects. Keep in mind, since Mance was considered a king, the Lord of Light was expecting his death specifically as a sacrifice. Since he was denied Mance’s death, what will the Lord of Light want in its place? The Red Woman (Millisandre) always says that death by fire is the purest death. And that’s usually the way she works her mojo.
    Can’t wait for the next!

What is your interpretation off Cersei’s prophesy? :) If you ever want to read the Woods Witch scene in the book, I’ll totally send you the passage. It is more detailed and makes more sense there, because as you know from Lore, she hoped to marry Rhaegar. So Cersei doesn’t understand how she can marry a king, but not a prince. Or how the king can have 17 kids, but she only have 3. Love this season so much! Excited you are here.

  • @AceCorban
    @AceCorban 2 роки тому +1

I was long under the impression that Cersei had Robert poisoned by Lancel. Have I been misinterpreting that the whole time? I guess just making sure he simply got too drunk to hunt was a more clever way to get rid of him.

So one of my favorite quotes from the books comes from Genna Lannister(Tywin’s sister) talking to Jaime: “You smile like Gerion and fight like Tyg, and there's some of Kevan in you, else you would not wear that cloak... but Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you."

I like this season, despite the polarizing ending. There's many awesome things yet to come. All I'm gonna say is keep an open mind and don't get pre-influenced by the online negativity, most of which is a later-date reactionary lashing out to the last season. It only became a narrative years after the season had already happened. A segment of the fans go out of their way to niptick and dunk on the show just to make a point about how good the books are. I've seen plenty of new reactors who go into these seasons blind without knowing anything about all the book controversies and they enjoy the second half as much as the first half and end up being like: I didn't know even know what this negativity was all about, it's news to me! For such a polarizing and criticized show, there's a reason why it was one of the most watched shows ever made.
