Install IP Camera on NVR

- www.cctvcamera... - Watch this video to learn how to install an IP camera on a Viewtron NVR. There are two methods for installation.
1) Connect the IP camera to one of the PoE ports on the back of the NVR. The IP camera will be assigned an IP address by the NVR and the camera will be assigned to the channel # of the port that you connected it to.
2) Connect the IP camera the to a PoE switch. The NVR may be connected to the same switch or another switch no the same network. Using the NVRs main menu, select add camera from the main menu. A local network scan will be performed to detect any compatible IP cameras. Check the box next to the camera that you want to install. The IP camera will be assigned to the next available channel on the NVR.

Is there a way to hook up an analog camera to a new NVR. I bought a new system and was thinking about using two of the old cameras if I can.

Hi Mike, I have 16 port Hikvision NVR, and need to extend with 2 additional 8 POrt POE switches. Always shows cannot add any IP camera. Please help with network diagram
Hi Teejay. Are you asking if you can expand a 16 port NVR beyond 16 cameras? If so, the answer is no.
Do you have a video on replacing a ip camera with another and connecting it to the NVR do you have to delete the old camera . When I try to add a new camera it says no more camera allowed.
Sorry for the delayed reply. I am sorry that we do not have a video that shows you how to do this yet. You are correct. Delete the camera that you are replacing on the add IP camera screen of the NVR. Then, add the new IP camera on the same screen.
How is NVR located in different remote location (say city A) is connected or linked to IP Camera installed in another remote location (say city B)?
Although this is possible by setting up port forwarding on the IP camera, it is not recommended. Hi Mike, do consumer grade NVR's from companies like Swann and Reolink support the ability to hook up and detect the cameras from a PoE switch (not hooked up directly to the NVR) as you have shown in your video? Thank you!
We do not supply Swann or Reolink but I would think that they do.

Can any brand of POE Cemera connect to NVR?

Can I switch IP ports on the NVR? Say if camera 1 was on port 1, I change it to port 4. Will that cause any issue?
Yes. You can switch an IP camera from one port to another.

Hi. No that was not the purpose of the video. The purpose was to explain the two different ways to connect IP cameras to Viewtron NVRs. You can connect the IP cameras to the NVR's built-in PoE ports, or you can connect them to an external network switch that is one the same network as the NVR. I realize that this is very basic information for installers and people in the business but we have many DIY installers as customers, such as home owners and small business owners, that have never installed a security camera system before.
