I’m glad you mentioned there is no need to rush to check in. So many pilots I’ve flown with want to switch and call immediately and are stepping on people without realizing it.
Yes, that, and when the controller says switch to MY frequency xxx.xx and then they read that frequency, switch to it, and say up with you on it. Just switch the frequency and say up on xxx.xx 😉
In 1969, my wife and I went to Hocking Hills State Park for our honeymoon. Back in those days, Honeymoon destinations were much different then they are today, especially if you had to be back to work the following week. It was a low cost and fun destination for a city boy and a farm girl. We are still together and celebrated our 55th this year at the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, probably costing 10 times what our honeymoon cost just for one night and a meal at the Inn.
Nice video. I like the explanations of your techniques (to your wife). Also like to see you thinking ahead of the airplane and being prepared for what’s coming next. Those things are good for my 18 and 16 year old to see. They are working on their PPL now. Watching on my phone, at 44:30 I took my T shirt and wiped off a smudge on my phone…only to find it was a bug on your wind screen! Cheers!
I’m waiting on G7 next month. Been flying a demo G7 in prep. I was taught to hold the starter button for 10 seconds regardless with a quarter inch throttle, and after pushing prime for 3 -5 seconds…It ben working every time
They replaced the starter switch at the 100 hour, working much better since. It was doing nothing at times, regardless of how long I was holding it. All is good now.
Awesome, I’ve seen a few G7 with the bubbles popping up, look like it’s beginning above your panel. LThey tell me mine will have the fix before delivery but if not they will fix. Are you getting any pushback on that fix?
Gotcha. Not near as bad as the one I flew yesterday and it was only a couple month old. Mine arriving in Knoxville mid October hopefully they will fix prior. It’s a known issue for sure and my rep assured me it will be taken care of if I have similar issues
There are a number of “growing pain” issues with the G7. I picked up mine in Knoxville in June. Mostly interior cosmetic items, but the push start button has been an issue. In addition, I had a mag go bad at about 50 hours. I’m sure over time Cirrus will resolve the problems. I think the new avionics are worth the headaches.
Nope, I’ve got hot starts down. Everyone seems to have a slightly different technique. I should show mine in another video. In a nutshell, when hot and stopping briefly, I do the following. Flood engine (prime) with mix full & throttle full. Pull mixer idle cutoff Leave throttle full and boost off Start engine, once engaged… flow through the following. Boost on, throttle idle, mixture rich. That works for me every time without fail.
I think for C airspace you have to hear back your tail number!!! right? if they don't repeat your tail number and say "caller" standby and etc, you don't have the clearance to go to C. if not, I have to go back to school :D
Yeah, I think that is correct. For class C, the 7110 says: "If the controller responds to a radio call with, “(a/c call sign) standby,” radio communications have been established and the pilot can enter Class C airspace." So, if they OMIT the callsign and just say aircraft calling standby, I think that is a grey area and maybe you can't. But in practical terms, I don't think they would brasher you for it. I think I would be listening more for the "stay clear of the charlie" as you heard in the video to the other plane. Good question for Opposing Bases ;)
@@flying_scott Before mine was replaced I was always able to start the plane, but it was getting more difficult. In the back of my mind I was thinking it wouldn’t be good if I needed to attempt a mid air restart and had to pull CAPs because the button failed. I must say I do enjoy owning a plane with a warranty! Wishing you blue skies and tailwinds! Ps. Love you’re getting your wife on comms. I’ve gone through emergency scenarios with mine, but have never had her do radios. It would be good for her to try before there’s an emergency - good job!
No, I went up without looking at anything outside the plane... lol, I kid. I will do that next time.. (checking fuel, etc). Well in two videos, because I have one in the queue.

Beautiful park! Lovely video also, love the aircraft! If you’re ever down south near Atlanta stop into RYY!
Will do! I’ll make that my stop on my next trip to Florida
Hey my home airport - KLHQ! Nice flight, just took our flight club's SR20 G7 to KJXN this morning for a $100 (more like $600) omlette! Safe flying!
Great airport!
I’m in a flying club at I68 but haven’t made to KLHQ yet…
Great video!

Thanks! Your phone turned into a 4K bug smasher 🤣

@@RoL-r9hyeah, mine are bad. They gave zero push back on replacing the entire thing, but it’s going to be a minute.

Had the same issue with my push button start. They had to replace it and now its perfect. Happened around the same number of hours.
Yep, my new one they installed during the 100 hr is perfect. Hope it doesn’t continue to be an issue after time.
Anchor Hocking- old school!
Does hot starts give you much of trouble in G7 after a brief flight over or did you keep it running for the pick up. Great videos thanks for sharing

Did you preflight inspect the exterior of the plane and properller.. where's the gopro headmount video of that?
