It's really a shame that there most likely will never be another DOA. While DOA 2 wasn't nearly as thrilling as the first one, it still had it's fair share of secrets, drama, community members, and achievements. However, I don't think that anything will ever top DOA in 2011 - 2012. All the rivalries that took place, ground breaking discoveries, and the fact that there was only a limited amount of content floating around on UA-cam. Players not revealing their strategies or lives, nukes, and boosts at certain rounds, etc. The game was shrouded in mystery and players took a lot longer to develop. I think for those reasons alone, that DOA 3 or any other sequel will never be able to compete with the glory days the DOA 1 community shared. However, any experience would be welcomed and I think it would be cool to see another released.

Amazing work, man! This really opened my eyes to the whole DOA game mode and community. I used to think this was just a silly extra mode that had been hidden in BO1 and slapped on BO3, but I realize that this is actually an insanely skill-dependant mode with a lot of depth. I have massive respect for you guys. I am a campaign and multiplayer (10,000+ hours) player, so this is a new interesting branch of COD for me... Thanks for making this!
This was really well made and a great nostalgic trip. Thank you for all the hard work that was put into this and shout outs to all the Dead Ops players!
First of all, i just wanna say this documentary is absolutely amazing. Thank you and the rest of its contributors for putting in the effort to create a video that sheds light on a small amazing community. I didn’t know much or even realize that DOA had a community, and after watching your documentary i have come to gain such a huge respect for everyone involved. I never payed too much attention to the mode just like many others with its introduction on BO1, I’ve always just stuck to the round based zombies mode and never batted an eye to DOA after playing it a couple times when the game came out. But recently, I’ve been playing DOA 3 on Cold War the past few days just to get the challenges and achievements done because I’m a completionist, and after actually sitting down to play it and giving the mode the attention it deserves, ive come to really enjoy it and the unique experience it provides in comparison to the round based zombies. So seeing this video and learning just about how deep the community and lore is involved is awesome coming from an outsiders perspective! I’m glad to be able to witness this and the passion and dedication you have to the game and the community really shows. Everyone that plays zombies needs to see this! Haha thanks for the video!
I finally took the time to watch this, and I wanted to thank you for this. It was great seeing all of the legends and the atmosphere around DOA's early days. This was a great piece.
i'm very thankful for this documentary. DOA will forever be one of my favorite gamemodes in CoD history, seeing Beaston mentioned brought me back to the old days when I used to run DOA and The Giant with him. Great times :)
agh man, the nostalgia! i remember the 1st time i played DOA , i was like what the heck. but then i meet a DOA 99er who got me into it, him host gun me feet, and he carried my ass to 52 lol. But then i got into it. i can honestly say ive meet some of the coolest people playing DOA and zombies, Doa really does bring back some really good memories! i stopped gaming a few years back but seeing DOA 3 i'm full on ready to jump back in with those beautiful furious feet
Criminally underrated UA-cam content here, but you do have a 100% like ratio which is very powerful indeed. I was only a round 60-70 DOA player, I could hang flawless til the dogs start showing up. These guys are truly on another level.
Played doa 1 back in the day and didn't have fun sadly cause I was clueless (when I was 11) As for doa 2 it was hidden and I didn't know how to access it but played it like once or twice when I found it out. Doa 3 is where I'm loving it mainly cause the 1st person mode and as for grinding I'm going for the 1 billion score calling card and at 900 million and as for doa in general it's so good.
Wonderful stuff. :D My highest round is in the 90’s whilst helping a 10 year old kid beat the game, so if anyone still wants to play DOA2 and needs help getting past the Silverback, send me a message on Xbox. My Gamertag: The UK Nutter Also, 11:05 is a crazy story. I had a friend who was #28 in the world at the time, who wanted me to talk to Thee Frenzy. He had 400 subs at the time, and back then my highest round was 9 (I’m not kidding). I asked if he wanted to play (delusional that he had reached a really high round), but he said no because he lived in NA and I was in EU. Nevertheless I watched the video, couldn’t believe that he actually reached such a high level, hence the comment, and 6 years later ended up being asked to be in this very video! I was 2 weeks late due to exams so the interview was postponed quite a bit, but I’m still grateful you guys remembered me and Frenzy’s first ever comment, haha! As a DOA player who wasn’t well known in the community at all and didn’t really talk to the experienced DOA players, I highly appreciate that you made this video. This is going straight to my favourites!
In terms of high-rounders, there's typically only a handful of people playing at a single time, and that's kind of how it's been for a couple of years now. But I have noticed a few players play lengthy games recently (probably because they had off for Christmas break). For instance, TzT Voltage, who is featured in this video, recently got round 226 on DOA 2 Solo. I don't know how many players can be considered "active" though.
fan fucking tastic. opened my eyes to a CoD community I never knew existed. I have a large amount of respect for every player in this video and I now look at DOA in a new, more mesmerized way.
I was so happy when black ops 3 first came out and I found out there was a group of people this dedicated, I was so happy. Now over 500+ hours later, I can gladly say a lot of you guys made me a better player. I’m happy to say I have gotten to the silverback on round 80 on doa because of the practice and dedication for this mode.
Great video, I'm sorry I didnt get back to you and take part! I remember me (rossyd223) yaneyobe and jesus (I think it was) were the first from the UK to make it to round 120. Fond memories of spending whole days playing this game and will always stay apart of my life!
Glad you liked the video! I would have loved to feature both you and YaneYobe in it, but I also understand that many older players have moved on and are largely inactive on their social accounts. You two were some of the few players uploading high-level DOA gameplay to UA-cam early on, and I definitely enjoyed watching your gameplays when I first started playing. If it's any consolation, I originally intended on including archival audio from your first public upload, where you say, "Round 81.. my god, that was hard work, whew!" I found the line delivery very funny, and also a good representation of the challenge of the game back then. Cheers!
Wow. Very well done. Very humbled by the video and being a part of it with so many legends. Maybe we need a where are they now? :P Did you interview @JuggaJugga? Or get the footage from another interview? LoL @ "if you programmed the game to play itself, I'm not sure it would be much better than iMrBeast" (cue Iron Man music) So are you telling me I'm not on the leaderboards for DOA2 anymore?
Thank you, Fritz. I was happy to have you featured in the video. The interview with David was shot exclusively for this documentary. However, I wasn't actually conducting the interview at their studio, though they were my questions. I reckon you're wiped from the leaderboards, retroactive to Aug. 2016!
I seriously loved doa I remember when I first played it I dinit understand it that much and it was hard but the more I played the farther I got but eventually I gave up and never played it again until I came across a few years later doa 2 this was the game that I love very much I remember waiting for my turn on the Xbox I would be playing this every day with people or on my own I kept playing non stop because it was that fun until one day I just started playing solo a lot and then I finally beat the game and I was so proud of myself and then never played it again but I am downloading bo1 and 3 to re experience these and I’m off to try to beat mama comeback this game has never brought me so much joy in a cal of duty game ❤
Thank you very much! I wouldn't call the community exactly huge, but there has certainly been a lot of history behind the mode and its community throughout the years.
Thanks, much appreciated! I think many things discussed in the video have a timeless quality to them since there is a lot of reflection on the past, so whether you watched it last year or today probably doesn't make much difference. It's always great to see new people discover and check out the video though. Thanks again for the kinds words!
Great vid Rambo! It’s great that we have someone like you in the community to make doa videos like this. Thanks for putting in the effort. Btw, where can I find that video with David King?
Great memories ! Very good job, respect to all Of you. I m french Dead ops player, i played with joesph and Aero_Snk before he runs round 200 ^^ I’ve done round 161 on doa 2. I stream doa 3 on my Channel (in french) Thanks for this video !
What a great fucking video, damn near shed a tear and I never knew this existed. I feel included after watching this, even tho I never even played doa1 and 2.
Idk why but this made me sad. I was never that good at doa but I remember playing it in 2011 with my cousins and friends since it was the only zombie mode that allowed for 4 player local co-op. We dfinitely grew a liking for the game and without a doubt it's a unique game mode. Glad it is back in Cold War
Finally managed to place Top 100 In DOA3 for career Number of rounds. Love this mode, i hope they continue the series as beating the game is so rewarding. Especially because its not the popular mode
Man now I wanna play some DOA 1 again lol. I think it’s really cool how Dave King did the interview for this, and for his willingness to help the community as a whole. It gives me hope for a 3rd installment eventually, but I would rather it not be rushed if it is to be made. Huge thanks to Rambo for making this and all others involved! (Jk I want a refund where is the Paper Deer interview?!?!?! :P )
Thank you, Fatal. It was definitely very kind of David to do so. Regarding PaperDeer, he actually disappeared for a couple years, and only came back a couple months ago. I asked him for a short interview, but he declined.
@@TheMoZProject You probably won't see this, but I love to rewatch this documentary over and over again because I grew up watching my father play DOA1 and I played some DOA2, and I LOVE DOA3. But just letting you know, PapaerDeer14 and his friends recently carried me (I pulled my weight somewhat especially in the later rounds) to my first Silverback defeat a couple of weeks ago! They were nice people and I've been striving to become one of the best (I'm 12 btw) but I unfortunately have a long way to go. My highest round on Solo is only round 60 but I know I will get that solo Mamaback defeat soon. I have a dream to become the best and play with you someday, Rambo! Also I was kinda surprised when I saw PapaerDeer14 on here as I found him in a public game lol. But keep up the great work Rambo, I love your videos!!! ❤️
Thank you very much for watching the video! I actually first met PaperDeer back in 2011. We knew each other from BO1 Zombies, before either of us were DOA players! Glad he was able to carry you to a Boss defeat, and best of luck on your Solo endeavors :)
was listening to a podcast with Frenzy on it and he said to check this video out and honestly this was a really good video honestly i'm not the greatest player in the world but I can definitely say that i'd actually probably go back and try out Dead ops Arcade again thxs for sparking my interest in this such game mode
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that the video motivates people to give DOA another chance, even if they're playing it on a more casual level. Coincidently, I was also listening to the podcast when Frenzy & Reed started talking about the video... very kind of them to highlight it on the stream!
Are you still playing as much now that DOA 3 is out? & how do we get in a game with you? :) This was an amazing video even 2 years later, much appreciated!
Yes, I have plenty of DOA3 videos on my channel. I host Open Lobbies pretty often where I pick random Twitch followers to play with (my Stream is linked in the description).
I must have watched this over 15 times lol. Love ur channel man!. So happy DoA3 is out. Im buying it next friday!!! Cant wait to watch all ur videos on it dude! Keep up the awesome videos!
Been going through the channel and loved the retrospective videos, wanting to be a Game Developer down the road so all these videos on communities and map retrospectives, honestly if you have the motivation to I'd say one last retrospective for Transit since it was the last Jimmy Zalinski map would be a nice end to the retrospectives, especially since Transit was mentioned multiple times in the Moon retrospective.
Thanks for checking out the videos! Doubtful that the Zombie Retrospective series ever continues with something like TranZit, but you never know what the future holds! For now, I am focusing on Dead Ops Arcade 3 content. Also, it's a different Mr Beast in the video :)
I miss DOA I haven’t played Xbox since December. They should port it to the Switch. It would work and sell so well on it and I would play it sooo much.
I have recently started playing DOA 2 since late November and am in shock that noone in the current community has mentioned this film to me. This includes old DOA 1 lovers and top DOA 2 players who know or are in this film. With all the nostalgia and excitement I recieved from watching it, why is this film not more talked about?
This video doesn't really have *too* many views, so I suppose it makes sense that it's not talked about very often. It's also possible that certain community members haven't even seen it, or maybe they've only seen bits and pieces of it. A lot of DOA players are focused more-so on playing the game, rather than watching videos about the game. It's also important to note that this video came out over a year ago, so if community members were ever talking about it, it was probably back then rather than now. Glad the video brought you some excitement though.
a few years ago now I had played a game up to round 40 with someone (well I was pretty bad at that time) who was much better than me and who didn't even speak the same language as me. I was surprised that with a score not as impressive as the millions of people who go up to 99 on kino der toten, I was ranked 6000th on the game. That as few players reach this alord round as there could be up to 500,000 players connected at the same time to the game, that Call Of Duty is as popular as its zombie mode, but not DOA
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don't play DOA 1/2 anymore, but there might be a few good players in the PS4 Community for Dead Ops Arcade who still look for matches.
Keep trying and I'm sure you'll beat it soon! I believe I told you a while back to take the Furious Feet for Solo, but if your goal is to beat the Silverback on Solo, you might want to change it up and try with another fate like the Death Machine/Fury, as it's pretty good in the early rounds. Good luck!
So it seems theres a Dead Ops every 2 games. Blops Blops 3 Blops CW Edit: First person is also a reality Edit 2: Also more new fates Edit:3 it did come in black ops 5/CW

i'm very thankful for this documentary. DOA will forever be one of my favorite gamemodes in CoD history, seeing Beaston mentioned brought me back to the old days when I used to run DOA and The Giant with him. Great times :)
Thanks for watching!
agh man, the nostalgia! i remember the 1st time i played DOA , i was like what the heck. but then i meet a DOA 99er who got me into it, him host gun me feet, and he carried my ass to 52 lol. But then i got into it. i can honestly say ive meet some of the coolest people playing DOA and zombies, Doa really does bring back some really good memories! i stopped gaming a few years back but seeing DOA 3 i'm full on ready to jump back in with those beautiful furious feet
I could tell the person who made this took all their time to make this documentary, I respect that.
Thank you
I bet all these guys are so happy doa3 is out I've watched this like three times because it's just such great quality
Thanks, we're all pretty stoked :)
nice documentary i loved every second of it
Thank you

@@Atrocitylol69 great I’m glad I made you smile
Criminally underrated UA-cam content here, but you do have a 100% like ratio which is very powerful indeed.
I was only a round 60-70 DOA player, I could hang flawless til the dogs start showing up.
These guys are truly on another level.
Thanks! Very few people are capable of reaching round 60+ on either DOA game, so nice job with that!
This is criminally underviewed
Looking forward to watching
10/10 great documentary would definitely recommend to my peers
Played doa 1 back in the day and didn't have fun sadly cause I was clueless (when I was 11)
As for doa 2 it was hidden and I didn't know how to access it but played it like once or twice when I found it out.
My Gamertag: The UK Nutter
Also, 11:05 is a crazy story.
Thanks for the great anecdote!
TheMoZProject That’s okay! I just apologise for hardly getting involved with the community and just keeping to myself when it came to high rounds. :p
Dope video, I was never apart of this community but dead ops will always be a classic and the best zombies mode to play, good work boss
Thanks!
TheMoZProject Yep! Does anyone still play this actively?
In terms of high-rounders, there's typically only a handful of people playing at a single time, and that's kind of how it's been for a couple of years now. But I have noticed a few players play lengthy games recently (probably because they had off for Christmas break). For instance, TzT Voltage, who is featured in this video, recently got round 226 on DOA 2 Solo. I don't know how many players can be considered "active" though.
fan fucking tastic. opened my eyes to a CoD community I never knew existed. I have a large amount of respect for every player in this video and I now look at DOA in a new, more mesmerized way.
Glad to hear that, thanks for the kind words!
Glad to hear that! Not many people are capable of making it that far into the game, so congrats!
Amazing how the advice for doa3 really shows.
Cheers!
Honest to God your channel has me hooked on this game
Lol, glad to hear that!
Dead Ops Arcade 3 teased today. Bless this gamemode.
This is such a good documentary made me feel nostalgic you did a good job bro
Thanks ;)
Wow. Very well done. Very humbled by the video and being a part of it with so many legends. Maybe we need a where are they now? :P
Did you interview @JuggaJugga? Or get the footage from another interview?
LoL @ "if you programmed the game to play itself, I'm not sure it would be much better than iMrBeast" (cue Iron Man music)
So are you telling me I'm not on the leaderboards for DOA2 anymore?
Thank you, Fritz. I was happy to have you featured in the video.
The interview with David was shot exclusively for this documentary. However, I wasn't actually conducting the interview at their studio, though they were my questions.
I reckon you're wiped from the leaderboards, retroactive to Aug. 2016!
Exceptional video!
👍
Happy to hear that!
I am playing these again to try to finally beat the silverback for the first time, it’s tough but so fun
This is amazing brings a tear to me eye ur guys are lengdens hope to see u guys on do3 soon
I never knew there was such a huge community for DOA. I mean I am a big fan of DOA, but man great documentary dude!
Thank you very much! I wouldn't call the community exactly huge, but there has certainly been a lot of history behind the mode and its community throughout the years.
This is pretty well done, even considering I am watching this almost a year late! Really nice job guys, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the nice words, Flame! The interview with David was shot exclusively for this documentary, so it can't be found elsewhere.
Do you know when it was recorded? I just wanna know how recently he said he doesn’t know if doa is coming back.

What an awesome video Ramb0
What a great fucking video, damn near shed a tear and I never knew this existed. I feel included after watching this, even tho I never even played doa1 and 2.
😥😁
Idk why but this made me sad. I was never that good at doa but I remember playing it in 2011 with my cousins and friends since it was the only zombie mode that allowed for 4 player local co-op. We dfinitely grew a liking for the game and without a doubt it's a unique game mode. Glad it is back in Cold War
Sorry it made you sad, lol. Thanks for sharing your anecdote.

For those crying at the end, they made a 3rd for Cold War. They also seem to be setting up for a 4th with a "Papa Silverback"
Wow! What an amazing video! Never knew there was such a big community surrounding DOA.

@@TheMoZProject Woah I didn't expect you to see that, but thanks for the good luck wishes! 😊
was listening to a podcast with Frenzy on it and he said to check this video out and honestly this was a really good video honestly i'm not the greatest player in the world but I can definitely say that i'd actually probably go back and try out Dead ops Arcade again thxs for sparking my interest in this such game mode
Love this
I must have watched this over 15 times lol. Love ur channel man!. So happy DoA3 is out. Im buying it next friday!!! Cant wait to watch all ur videos on it dude! Keep up the awesome videos!
Thanks Corey! Let me know your thoughts on Cold War whenever you play it
I Def will let you know man!
When i saw the DOA3 announcement for cold war I immediately thought of this video
Ha, thanks!
Love the video and your channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
This is so beautifully done

I miss DOA I haven’t played Xbox since December. They should port it to the Switch. It would work and sell so well on it and I would play it sooo much.
This is amazing! Thank you soo much!!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Im still hoping for a doa3
Keep your eyes peeled on the new game about to launch in a couple months...
So... I have some news for you.
zombroz brought me here
I listened to the episode as well... thanks for stopping by!
Great video
awesome videoo ramb0
I'm only 20 minutes in and this is by far one of the most entertaining videos I've ever seen on youtube #subscribingrightnow
Ha, glad you're liking it! Hopefully you enjoy the rest of the video!
Awesome video. I love these 2 games
a few years ago now I had played a game up to round 40 with someone (well I was pretty bad at that time) who was much better than me and who didn't even speak the same language as me.
Great video, would love to play with you guys, even make it to round 64
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don't play DOA 1/2 anymore, but there might be a few good players in the PS4 Community for Dead Ops Arcade who still look for matches.
@@TheMoZProject thanks broo, also is I hard on solo to get to the 🦍, my max was the pine forest
Good luck!

Great video but you forgot about the op fortitude at first which I heard about but I wasn’t around during that time and the very very very op death machine during the one patch where it always 3 hit but that was a great video best doa vid I have ever seen
Thanks, it's been a while since you've commented on a video of mine! I'm well aware of OP Fortitude & OP Death Machine - they are highlighted in other videos of mine. However, for the sake of keeping this documentary concise, not every single feature of the game can be mentioned.
TheMoZProject ya that’s true and I lose interest in games and come back it’s a cycle for me. I got back into it so I went back and watches some of ur vids

I hope that some type of DOA fan-made game is made if DOA 3 doesn't happen.
Fan-made DOA game? Don't see that ever happening. Maybe someone would make a BO3 Custom Map if they added the DOA script to the mod tools.
I was thinking that too but idk if anyone would know how.
I'm French and when I heard the English accent from the youtuber who recommended your channel I was laughing my ass off 😂
I think his English is very good, but I imagine you're not accustomed to hearing it from him. Regarding your other comment, very few people are capable of beating round 40 on DOA 1 (approximately 1 out of every 1000 players who play Co-op).
@@TheMoZProject It's not the first time we've heard him speak english, but it's always funny when you don't expect it
