I think this more shows that the pros know how to structure their season to peak in late summer while the HS and NCAA athletes need to be fast right now.
Yep. High schoolers are about to cap their school schedule off and run state while pros run well into the summer. All about timing for what your doing
Spot on.
That doesn't explain why don't see sub 10s a decade ago.
It's also weired that only US highshoolers ran such incredible times.
@@Leonidas-eu9bb pretty sure the comment was in reference to the point at which the fast times are ran.
Im sure the faster times in general can be attributed to better technology, training and access to more advanced training for younger sprinters on top of just raw talent. Im sure theres more to it but thats just the obvious to me.
@@Leonidas-eu9bb I agree. It's a massive dip in times. My theory is that all of these great times are helping get closer to a new world record. Every little bit helps.
Bromell hadn’t actually turned 19 yet when he ran that 9.97. His birthday was still a month later yet.
Crazy at 18 years old
Being 18 and clocking below 10 seconds crazy
@@Vatsal1285and?
*99.9
@@BatmanTheDarkKnightImhim?? It was 9.97
Man tilting the body 90 degree whilst running by Tebogo that was an easy 9.84-9.86 clocking
But I respect him he said he didnt want to break it further so that the young upcoming athletes can break it 😂
You have a typo right at the beginning. 2024 instead of 2014. Letting you know in case you can fix it easy. Thanks for another great vid
Beginning*
Kinda ironic
It happened in 2014, not this year
@@penge3325that's what he said the video says 2024 instead of 2014
It wasn't a typo, Bromell set the time in 2014 and if you watched the whole video he says it again at 1:55
This makes Miller the first 17 year old to break 10 seconds, with the previous record being held by Yoshihide Kiryu at 10.01 (Miller was already second behind Kiryu from last year with 10.06). Puripol Boonson will also be one to watch, being the only athlete to ever run under 10.1 at 16 or younger, also having run 10.06 at 17.
Boonson barely started his season just ran 10.08. I think he’s . 18
Yeah at 16 also he ran 10.09. I think if he went to a d1 school in usa. He’ll get much faster.
Gout Gout be coming for those records ;)
Mathew Bowling ran a 9.7 in high school 3years ago
TRP ... Will you be able to participate in the next round of bidding for the Diamond League streaming after FloTrack's contract expires? You appear to be one of the few platforms in the western hemisphere that has positively impacted the coverage and growth of the sport. Kudos and gratitude to your ongoing efforts.
Man what a great question. If I had known that the rights were up for grabs I would have put my best foot forward and tried to get them. If I could find a way to get them I would 100% stream them for free right here on UA-cam. Hopefully that door will open up soon. Cheers!
@@TotalRunningProductions - Andrew, you're a massive channel now. Do you have a management team supporting you? Have you attracted any business funding? You are now in a position where you could attract business investment, just like Andy Baddeley did with The Running Channel. He secured over a million pounds (1.4 million dollars). Maybe you could negotiate a business consortium?
@@TotalRunningProductions if I were to invest some money, I would want to see what investing could do for all of us including the general public. I don’t have a million dollars but I would be interested in a few thousand dollar investment.
Nobody talks about it, but speaking from experience, it’s the shoe technology.
It has to be. I am from England. At 16 years old, I sprinted 100m in 11.4 seconds. Not exactly fast compared to these lads, but it set the county record at the time. I'm 42 now, and my body hasn't aged well (13 years in the Army and too much rugby) but with the new sprinting shoes from 2023, I was still able to finish 100m in 12.9 on track. I have looked after myself the best I can, I'm still strong and I have a lot of loading/launch potential in my legs so I get off the line fast, but I should see a bigger decrease in sprint speed after 26 years. Out of curiosity, I ran the 100m on a school field, grass, no sprinting spikes, just regular running trainers. My time was 16.1 seconds. I don't remember the gap being so significant from grass to track when I was a teenager -2 seconds at the very most? To my knowledge, track surfaces haven't changed that much; the amount of spring from the track feels similar (accounting for age and the resultant memory fatigue) and the grip was close enough to what I remembered that I couldn't tell the difference (with the same memory caveat as before) between them.
I appreciate that diet and training are constantly being tweaked. New legal supplements (I hadn't even heard of Creatine back when I was young) are used, but I can't see how a legal supplement would give that sort of boost.
So we could have one of, or a combination of these potential explanations:
1. An exotic, undetectable P.E.D. upis in use.
2. Sneaky spike technology similar to the long-distance shoes that caused so much controversy a few years ago.
3. Some of the sprinters could be lying about their age; it happens, no one should dismiss it because it is rare.
4. These lads are phenomenal athletes and sprinting is set to have its records shattered.
I hope it is 4, I want to believe it is 4. But I will not close my mind to the other possibilities. However, being a phenomenal athlete should not necessarily lead to accusations, but questions must be asked for sport to remain fair and viable.
@@madMARTYNmarsh1981 - I went to high school in Germany, on a US Air Force Base. I ran 11.5 for 100m. This was in 1972, and was a VERY fast time. I was 16 as well. Now, I am close to 68, and still play basketball, a lot. 100% honestly, I am still quite fast. Oddly so. I have been looking for a senior track event, so I can smash whomever is there.

I remember when this channel first started out and had maybe 15k subs and I had to argue with multiple people who were calling this a fake channel with straight clickbait and made up statistics. You remember that total running? I know you saw it. Good to see you’re breaking the 1milly view count. You deserve it
I hope they test these dude’s samples in the future. It’s getting Ben Johnson crazy.
It's the shoes
@@luckyduck7073 It's the performance enhancing drugs
As a spanish, that "Cali, Colombia" sounded perfect man wow 😂👍
17 @ 9.93 is crazy but different athletes have different regimes so lets see how Paris pans out. Thanks for the video
I'm a complete newbie to track and field but these times just make Usain Bolts time look more crazy to me
Thanks to the algorithm for recommending this video. Definitely an outsider in the sport but damn I had no idea so many people were running under 10 seconds
Love yhe vids keep them up!
When I was 16 I ran a 10.83 (-1.2) My coach who was a south African junior Olympic coach told me by 18 I could hit 10.30.
2 snapped hamstrings, a broken ankle and chronic knee injury stopped me from running competitively again but seeing kids around the age I was hitting 10 flat and sub 10 makes me wanna be a coach. I'm 26 now. This is unreal how quick these lads are getting this young!
Spotted the Typo indeed
Just here for the fahbulleh. No fahnbulleh - no happy day. Will be back for the fahnbulleh
Terrance Laird too, what happened to him again 😢
Unless he works on the first half of his race he'll never win anything major.
CORRECTION 🙌
Letsile Tebogo ran 9.96 first in Botswana
After wards he ran 9.94 at the heats of the 2022 world championships
Then at the world junior championships thats when he ran his 9.91
btw at 6:36 u mentioned 8 out of the 12 having illegal tail winds when its actually 10, only 2 had legal wind
with that waving mane one can hardly call Miller not 'wind-assisted'
Those rankings look like something you'd find in women's gymnastics!
Something is likely to screw it up….unless we maintain ,Honesty, legal and clarity at all times.
The future is bright with you in it. I appreciate everything you do for the sport.
I was already thinking "better PEDs" so the info at 3:40 did not surprise me at all.
LOL
I think it's amazing that no matter what level you sprint, there's usually someone who's really good. I think Miller peaked already given that the HS season is almost over, and I hope Lyles is going to run some really good times given his insane 60 improvement from this past year.
June 13th 2024 hasn't happed yet 😆
Issam's "record" was never ratified. The official record is still Tebogo's 9.91.
Edit. Very cool to see my teammate mentioned in one of these videos (Isaac).
SIMBINE also clocked 10.01 in🇿🇦
He’s predicting the result of the 100 meter dash in June 13, 2024. The new Nostradamus
It's frigging April 😯.
I read June 13th, 2024 - NCAA Championships. For a second I thought I'm in "Back to the future's" thing.
Charles Rogers could've done it. Ran 10.2 in high school. 20.6 in the 200m and then 47.8 in the 400m. Played WR at Michigan State and then was the #2 pick in the NFL draft. Dude was also all-state in basketball. One of the best athletes of all-time.
Do sprinting times even matter if they aren't being tested?
This comment needs to be pinned
Do you know that they haven’t been tested?
The runners usually get tested immediately following a race, especially if a record had just been broken. World Athletics doesn't ratify any records until the urine samples have been analyzed and checked, and for appropriate blocks to be used for that race.
@@Samsation93not high school. College not sure
@@Samsation93 they're not testing high school athletes.
You have check the timestatus these athletes were running a year ago and use the as your guide.
Cover the London marathon already!

The algorithm brought me here so I don’t understand time keeping in sprinting: why was the 9.99 rounded down to 9.97? Just different clocks or adjust for wind or something else?
The talent is strong with this new gen
100 meters dash is not the same as it used to be. Tebogo is a fresh air, classic!
I miss old Hayward Field. 🙁
Becoming very compelling.
They got em on some new PED tbh
edit: lol Asam popped for a cardarine analogue
make a video about billy mills in the 1964 olympics
Okay, I know that officially, the 100m sprint race can be, and is classified as a dash, but I hate it when I hear it being used that way. I think the term 'Dash' should be reserved for 60m sprint races. Now then, back on topic, Wow!
You should include athlete names in your title or description. This is track. Broadcast names at every opportunity.
Bro can see the future…
Where is the guy that was running next to him?
It’s great to see the new balco era finally upon us
Letsile broke the 100m junior record *3 times. 9.96 > 9.94 > 9.91
A few of these guys have a few question marks around their performances. But ... the amount of junior talent out there right now is hard to keep track of (apology for the pun).
If I'm not mistaken Yohan Blake ran 9.93 as a junior.
But not at age 17.
It’s a shame that certain types of runners find it more important to show off and brag to the other runners near the finish line instead of going all out and trying to do their best.
We need a video about Leduc
Are we at June already...😮
How to grow track and field: "Run to survive", even though I guess that doesn't rhyme.
The REAL truth is that sub 10 sec by a junior was broke in 1985 at the Texas UIL State Championship by Roy Martin... He ran a 9.95, but the meet officials rounded it up to 10 flat because they said it was not possible!
June 13th 2024 but it’s only April 2024. 😂. Can you also tell me the future lottery numbers ?
its going bananas
ive never ever cared about watching track and field and ive loved it the last 2 days for no reason
Wow
No typo
Only people who never trained a day in their life think every track runner is doping. U only see the track meets, not when they doing 2 a days and gotta sit in the cold tub to reduce the swelling
I sprinted Nationally in HS back in the early 1990's, Canada, and even the thought of a High schooler running sub 10 was non existent.
SUB 10.... in High school??? Lol
Theres been Olympic finals that have barely cracked 10 sec in the past few decades, but now we have 17 and 18 yr olds dipping 10 on the track. 😨
Craziness.... I think it's simply because kids are peaking quicker, earlier then in the past.
Meaning, Idk if an 18 yr old who runs 9.98 in HS.... will automatically be a 9.7 monster come their mid 20's.?🤔 In fact, that time might just be the fastest they'll ever run, or close to it. I think these HS kids are peaking physically much sooner. Certainly appears that way....
Darrell brown is one of the greatest underachieving sprinters
"In the summer of 2014"
And the date says 2024
So.. in what way is "The 100 Meter Dash Is Officially Broken"??
As for running records generally, of an distance, my impression is that humans already run the fastest possible time which can be achieved with training technique, diet, etc, and all advancements in recent times have been due to a/ magic shoes b/ track materials, and c/ other aids like pacer lights.
bro can predict the future, June 2024 hasnt even happened yet

springy shoes else how can a record that stood for a decade be broken so easily lately?
Its called 'Juiced' xD
0:03 Ummm... except THAT date hasn't occurred yet...
Still can’t belive Tebogo ran 9:31 😳🤯🤯🤯
Go to hell lmao
Meanwhile...where they hell is Bromell? Is he running this year or just training to fake people out? ! I'm confused.
Christian Miller may be the one that will Challange Usain Bolt's 9.58 one day if he stay injury and dope free.
If he’s really doping. He’ll just disappear in college and be forgotten. A waste
@@23glo59 He might be dicovered by a company that have quiestionable medical practises, and get offered a big sum to lay of the career. Then he can train in the shadows for four years under extreme doping regiment and then do a comeback if that couts and break Bolt's WR straight out from the gun and dominate for five sesaons on the track.

This is so exciting
Christian Miller is and exceptional highschool kid but he's going to but put in the Issam Asinga box until he tests clean
Boston is a smooth runner and will probably 9.90 with no tail wind
A video from the future.
Is it a result of new shoe technology?
With EACH new WAVE of record breaking.... we later find a NEW DRUG was being used.
i dont get it, why dont they all go all out at the end... between average and world record runs there are just few miliseconds and yet some of them just jog at the end like its casual, even doing PBs with jog at the end...
Don’t forget shoe technology is a thing now a days.
😢
Drugs are uh hell of uh thing
It's unbelievable that so many break 10 on a regular basis....not very long ago it happened only by a select few. Carl Lewis to me is still the best track and field athlete of all time... with his long Jump combined with his sprint success....but there are many races he wouldn't have placed in the top 4 . Although I think he probably would have rose to comp
Lyles season opener was meh for his standards he almost lost to Bednarek
I think for short sprints there really are the top guys who will show in Paris Coleman, Lyles, Kerley and TEBOGO the GOAT
What exactly are Lyles' standards? Last season he was at the exact same spot.
@@Yes_I_c4nlyles standards are 9:8x in a Caribbean meet…
