I am so appreciative of those that post theses as in TODAY I truly NEED this...show...watching this is extremely bittersweet as most of these very talented people are gone but these "shows" will live on forever!
A host and a panel of six celebrities in 1974 and nobody could imitate Howard Cosell other than Patti. Everyone in America had a Howard Cosell impersonation in 1974. We did really bad Howard Cosell impersonations on the playground as toddlers.

She got a well-deserved round of applause for that one! If you think about it, it was a pretty racy comment for daytime TV in 1974, which is probably why MG was so wildly popular.
ROFL!! another good one.. ;0) WOW! The amount of actors who did needlepoint in the 70's.. Darn what got edited out, strange edited there.. Love it when you sing Gene, that two now this week I think.. ;0) After dinner taping of course. ;0)
You know I see where that guy was coming from by saying “ talking...” It never fails people who have eaten garlic or onions will be all up in your face talking to you... it took a while for my brain to go there but I think that’s what he meant. The two men on either side of Brett.. love it. Especially the bald guy. He face planted her in the other episode. He said, well you wear those wigs everyday so we have to deal with em’! She didn’t know how to come back from that one.
When "the bald guy" Richard Deacon zings Brett (in episode 336) -- "You wear 'em honey, we have to put up with them too!" -- she certainly *did* know how to come back! She immediately quipped: "You can try one you know!" (a wig) @ ~ 12:36. It was Richard Deacon who was left speechless, the audience gave Brett a round of applause, and Gene even laughed and said: "She got you, Deacon!" @ 12:45. So I wouldn't say she didn't know how to come back from that one. Deacon was a good sport and a funny, classy guy. He apparently takes Brett's advice to try a wig, appearing with a modest toupee in #338, which he then humorously flips around.
I've heard that an odd sense of humor and off-beat answers were what the producers wanted in that final chair. They thought it was boring if all the celebs gave the same answer, so closing out a question with a bizarre response made the show more interesting was their thinking. Even very good players such as Betty White would sometimes give a really weird answer, and I suspect some of that was due to playing along with the producers' suggestions and just generally trying to be funny and entertaining. I think the weird answers came naturally to Patti though!
More doo-doo. These guys need to work on their vocabulary when it comes to animals. Try road apples, pasture pies, meadow muffins, reindeer berries, scat ...
BRETT does not know how to shut up! When the Question or answer is directed at somebody, She always has the butt in and put her two cents in which is it worth anything! The Joker she gets the louder she gets and then she starts jumping out of her chair which she’s done this whole show already
I didn't like this on much at ALL! Those Panelists (especially saint Richard) was EXTREMELY rude to Gene. It was ONLY a half our show, and they didn't even care ( and don't bother saying they were just having fun because saint Richard was the ringleader cause I know different). Even Gene was getting fed up with them!
The more I watch Richard and listen to him he really was intelligent:) what a charming man.
He certainly wasn't as Mr. Whimple.

Joann is beautiful and classy and likes to have fun. She also is down to earth as a beautiful woman pinching her nose to illustrate her answer.
She's getting hotter with every episode.
Richard Deacon is cool. He's funny.
that he is.

The singing hysterical LMAO 🤣🤣😍😍
Charlie Brill looked like Jim Croce
That's it thanks. I couldn't figure it out
More like the late, great Frank Zappa, don't you think?

Fun episode. I wonder how liquid the episode was, considering how silly and interrupting they were. Plus Jo Ann looks pretty hot in that top.
In the early years they chose others, later on it was Richard all the way!
10:05 - absolutely hysterical
First motel joke of the series for Brett and Gene (even if they didn't mention Encino)?
She got a well-deserved round of applause for that one! If you think about it, it was a pretty racy comment for daytime TV in 1974, which is probably why MG was so wildly popular.
dumb question, but I wonder if this Major Goolsby is the guy that owns Major Goolsby Sports Bar in Milwaukee?
No. The owner of Major Goolsby's Sports Bar is Jerry Cohen. I supposed Major Goolsby may have owned it at some point since it is a unique name.
Coincidence or phenomenon? 😉
Head-to-Head match: my answer was BASIC TRAINING. But BASIC BLACK is good.
I thought "basic training" would be the answer...
Jungle Drums me too after I said Basic Instinct but that movie wasn’t even thought of yet.
Me too it seemed too easy

Can I believe that major did not say Doodoo. It’s almost like he wanted to say it, but that he changed his mind to tracks.
Major? Training?
I really missed the Audience screaming out, part of the question that gene would answer
Patti's jacket or top is very attractive.

Ears are the most attractive part of a spaniel's body. They could practically be jewelry.
Floymin I think a spaniels most attractive part is their beautiful soul full eyes.
I was thinking of the spaniels “Coat.”
You know I see where that guy was coming from by saying “ talking...”

Panelists:
1. Charlie Brill
2. Brett Somers
3. Richard Deacon
4. Jo Anne Phlug
5. Richard Dawson
6. Patti Deutsch
BASIC TRAINING!!!
I'm quick to criticize the panelists for their lousy answers so the least I can do is admit I'm on a losing streak. I've been matching 25% at best.
I guess this was before we started using the word 'poop'.
Basic Training
Gene with the mod hair...
❤Gene’s hair
Brett irritates the cr*p outta me, and I feel guilty for feeling that way LOL.
You are not the only one join the club. She is a BLANK.. 16:06. WTF.
She cracks me up! I love her zinger at Gene @ 1:08. Priceless! She was the wild aunt I wished I'd had as a kid when I watched the show.
@@lynskyrd78 No, but he's certainly in the minority!
That's okay, Richard Dawson annoys the cr*p outta me! And I DON'T feel guilty for feeling that way.
(I do like Brett, though)
Major seems like good guy, and Patti Deutsch has such an odd sense of humor.
instablaster...

Patti has matched SO many times on this show. I guess this is when she started goofing off
Ugh
You'd think a guy named Major would say basic training
I was thinking basic math as well
"Talkiest"?!?

Brett is such a loud mouth pill...how on earth did Jack Klugman pit up with it!?.
I love Charlie Brill, but his Howard Cosell is pretty bad.
Wait...Gene says that Howard Cosell is in love with himself......Gene surely knows about self love.
So does Richard Dawson.
I have a black friend who was extremely offended ny Richards' comment at 18:30. I do think it was out of line. Anyone agree?
Didn't he simply say "and mothers?"
@@kathycobb4451 If so, I retract. It sounded like " muggers " to me
Offended over something said on a 30 minute game show approximately 40+ years in the past? Sensitive much?

Gene’s suits suck.
I think they look good for the 70's.. ;0)
I disagree.
Well, Jo Ann thought they looked "chic" at the time. I wonder what people in the 2070s will think about how we dressed in the early 2020s?

You do realize that Gene & the celebrities always have fun on this s show, right
I think it was Marcia Wallace who said Gene could get “snippy” (irritated) with the panelists at times but I think he held it together pretty well
@kristabrewer 6736--OMG.......
