      I wish I could get kicked out of Arkansas. We moved here after losing everything in Hurricane Harvey in Houston to be near my wife's family. I refer to Arkansas as "The Armpit of America". It's like a very corrupt, arrogantly ignorant Twilight Zone. My kids are thriving after being homeschooled for 5 years in Texas. 2 on full 4 year scholarships, and one at the top of her game in competitive horse riding, so at least for the next 7 years we're here. I can't wait for them to kick me out.

    • @GTObearclaw1
      @GTObearclaw1 2 роки тому +4

      @@irritatedtraveler negative, I would try not to interview anyone. But If during a conversation I heard them mouthing about being the nicest coach it would annoy me. I value many things in life more than items money can buy. And I am immediately turned off as soon as some one boasts about having something nicer or better. There is always someone with something better and nicer and bigger or faster. Just my 2 cents. My opinion is no more important than anyone else. But hay, why have a place for comments if we can’t say what we think. I didn’t see the whole interaction. Only one side. I could very well be wrong that’s just how I felt after seeing your video. Sometimes it’s nice when folks don’t sugar coat things. I like to know what people think. Even though I don’t always like what they have to say. Let’s me know if I need to take a look at myself. And I know I do have a lot of work to do on myself. You have good content. And congratulations on your channel.

      For the record, we didn't go door to door degrading everyone and never would! In fact, we made it a point to stay in our RV and avoid people for the entire stay. If you are hearing people boasting about themselves or their RV everywhere you go, I would suggest that you focus on something else and be happy with yourself!

    • @GTObearclaw1
      @GTObearclaw1 2 роки тому +6

      @@irritatedtraveler I think you missed the point. Did you read the very first comment that I replied to? You said that. It was a quote from the video. After I watched the video that’s what I left with. That’s what stuck out most. Just saying, that some of us viewers obviously picked up on that. Probably sounded worse than it was but it still made an impact on our opinion.

    Nice vlog.
    I am 84, wife 81, married 60 years. We have a 2001 Monaco Diplomat 40 ft diesel Class A coach...
    With 139,000 miles on it!
    We just returned to our home in Michigan 9 days ago from a 26 day trip to IN, Il and Wisc.
    We have another home in Naples, FL.
    Our coach has been in 49 states, much of Canada and much of Mexico.
    We seldom use our auto levelers: I carry 6 boards 2 inch by 12 inch. I place these as needed under either our front or rear tires, or the tires under 1 side or the other. Better than trying to use our levelers. Yes, the boards eventually crack.
    We tow a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500HD. Easy.
    And we carry 2 Golden Buzzaround 4 wheel mobility scooters in the Silverado with a high cap, and I carry my Trek bike on a swing-away rack.
    Dish TV as we drive.... I try not to watch too much!🤗

    Bless their hearts. We have been camping for 12 years. We have stayed in many RV parks. Some nicer than others. First off you dont take a barking dog to parks. You observe the speed limits of the park. The pad they had looks perfectly fine. they would be irate if they had some of the sites we have camped on over the years. I mean you expect to do some leveling. They need to always get the super expensive, exclusive resort type parks then they can have concrete pads and not problem leveling. I hate the way this looks to full timers that dont quiet have the money these folks have. Never been kicked out of a park. Never had words with people at the park or management. This is what rving has become. How fortunate you are to have the means to full time in luxury the way you guys do.

If you’re ever coming through again, you should stay at the Bull Shoals River State Park. It is spacious, always immaculate and has really friendly staff. Lovely to walk down by the river or go out in a trout boat for a refreshingly beautiful day on the White River. Sorry you had a bad experience. That DOES NOT represent Arkansas. There is a reason why you can always get a spot on the fly at “that other park”. 😎

    My Dad ,A WWII veteran told me as I left home to go on my 1st water tower weld job ,wherever you go , if you look for good folks , you'll find them...don't bother looking for the bad folks because they'll find you. He landed on Normandy Beach on D-Day and was caught uP in the Battle of the Bulge. He still met interesting people in the middle of a world war. He admired the regular German people and respected the regular German soldiers. He taught me many lessons including when getting to a new place , buy a local newspaper and eat the food the locals eat. At night you can read that newspaper and go right to sleep because there'll be nothing on your mind. Good luck and following winds kind travellers. I enjoyed watching your travelogue.

      Also, even though it closed due to financial reasons, there is a diamond mine in Colorado.

Most my experiences with the residents of that area have been largely positive. Some of the nicest and most humble people I've ever met in my life. From talking to several people, a lot of people from up north retire and move out that way. Now I'm not saying all Yankees are assholes, but I'm willing to bet money most the people that are are out there caus8ng problems ain't from there, or haven't lived there most their lives.

    I had a long think about what kind of vehicle I would try and find to convert into a camper and I pretty much settled on a LWB sprinter van with a higher roof. It is large enough to be able to live in it for a couple of months in a row and it is small enough to not attract nasty types of attention. Also in Europe we can enjoy a large number of and very conveniently spaced free RV parking spaces in which most of them allow over-nighting (and if not allowed it is either not enforced or illegal - by international treaty - to enforce)
    But hey, I get it, a city bus sized RV is very handy and comfortable to live full time in but one can imagine quite easily such a apparatus is very likely to attract the attention of those who are easily offended, have perceived powers to enforce some kind of sheit, are loud but demand others to be quiet and are generally entitled and jealous... generally such people should be avoided like the plague.
    So what I would recommend is to either downsize quite drastically or go to places which don't mind nice and large rigs...

    • @wingnutbert9685

      All unit's have there pluses and minus'. In some of these 'resort' places, they like to think they are better than others. They likely wouldn't even allow a van conversion in to start with. This seems to be a very common issue for random people traveling vs people that either own a space or are yearly regulars at places like that.
      And with the 'van life' trend in N. America, a Sprinter is going to get more hairy eyeballs than a monster coach like they have. 'Camping'/'RVing' in N.America seems to be quite different than in the UK and other parts of Europe.
      Get what you like and what you can afford. Like anything, to each their own. A big fancy unit like theirs is going to attract admirers. Comes with ownership. A cool kitted out Sprinter is going to do the same. All one can hope for is those having a look are respectful. :)
