Out of curiosity, how many have met south Africans? South Africans have met almost every other nationality around the world! Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Angola were given special permits to stay, study and live in South Africa. Out of ubuntu.
@@AustineAK Kenyans don’t travel that much to South Africa like before. Since the xenophobic violence we discovered new destinations like Mauritius, Seychelles, Maldives & Dubai. Also worthy to note Zanzibar is just a stone throw away from Kenya.
Wow Nairobi is nice. People were comparing it to Harare but I think its so much better. Very clean. Anyway I feel South Africans are misunderstood by other Africans. But I understand their struggles and their point of view. I love how they are proud of their cultures and languages. In fact most are multilingual and can converse using more than one language. They are very united and there's no tribalism there. They should be an advocate for tribal and ethnic unity in Africa. They are hardworking and creative. I like their education and confidence. They've come a long way from their apartheid days to try to fill the inequalities of the past. Of course it won't happen in just one generation but they'll get there. Keep shining South Africans. From your Zim sista (not living in South Africa).
I'm not even South African but I think the medias coverage on the xenophobic situation sometime back has led to a general bias about the entire country.
Its good for us, imagine if they didn't believe that we are xenophobic, we will be sitting with more than 40million immigrants as it is already estimated that we have more than 10million, the largest in Africa by a mile. Maybe the media used this as a fear mongering to cub the influx
@Thems Why you keep calling them our brothers? grow a pair, this are not our brothers and sisters, this are people who wish very bad things on us and you naïve if you cant see it. i am going to start ignoring South Africans who refer to this people as such unless if you don't see the hate directed towards us just for been south African
@Thems my friend you should go to other countries where south Africans are working independently without being singled out as a foreigner you want the truth start with the people who took your land and minerals am not say who but not your African Brothers who helped you fight for your freedom
Well, get on Twitter, Facebook etc and follow the discourse. There are few, dumb and loud people who help sustain that xenophobia image. They have done well to mask their xenophobia with claims of patriotic. Check a few comments below. I've been to SA, Mozambique, Eswatini, Botswana, Zimbabwe amd Zambia and met people who love their countries. Seldom does one encounter the toxic "patriotism" seen among some South Africans especially on social media and in poor townships
@Thems There is nothing like young democracy your country was already developed way ahead of other African countries when South Africa took its independence I think is the way yo leaders handle your country that matters. even if if you given 50 more years with bad leadership you guys will not reach any where so let your brothers from other countries come and teach you how it's done because I believe they come with different business ideas from their countries and by the way it's not only job you guys were after they were looting Africans business too
Also guys, I do not see anything wrong with this main comment. What’s wrong with being proud of your country and want to protect it?? I am anti xenophobic and I welcome everyone who will come and do legit work and not add to crime statistics 📊 in our country.
yeees. dude same. I have a deep love for Africa as a whole. SA is home and I love it with my soul but I carry ALL of Africa in my heart. I wish the best for all of us and want us all to succeed collectively and hand in hand. We could be so powerful if we all worked together.

I am Kenyan and can relate with what you are saying. My job allowed me to travel quite a bit. Every time I landed at Oliver Tambo, the immigration folks thought I was South African and some would speak Zulu to me, until I pulled out my passport or said I don't understand. Same applied to when I went to the malls, South Africans spoke to me in their local languages. I would travel from Nairobi to Joburg at least twice a month. It got to a point the SA immigration folks told me to get a South African husband and learn Zulu. 🤣🤣We have a connection somehow that goes beyond our differences. I have also been told I am Nigerian...by Nigerians. Been told I am from St Kitts and Nevis while on the subway in New York, Been spoken to in Kinyarwanda by Rwanda immigration who thought I am Rwandese. I have been told welcome back to the USA by USA immigration.. I guess I have a global look and I am a global citizen.

I get so emotional when I see videos like this.. I'm south african and I love my fellow African brothers and sisters and I love our continent, I love who we are.. My prayer is that we will come together and find solutions for our people...we have been entrusted with rich resources yet we are counted as one of the poorest.. We need a paradigm shift, we need wisdom. One love one Africa.
Kenyans don't hate/resent SA . We even have amapiano festivals . Many SA artists perform In Kenya to loving crowds . We welcome South African people in all aspects our only fear is that we might not be as welcomed in SA .
All the Kenyans I've met and worked with here are amazing people, highly educated, and hard working people, and they are flourishing here, so you'll be fine, and South Africans are a friendly lot that has been tainted by ridiculous propaganda. My sister and I once took a time off to host UN reps from Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast. We took them to some of the tourist areas in Johannesburg, they enjoyed themselves and had fun. On our way back to drop them off at their hotel, they attacked South Africans as xenophobic. I was gobsmacked. We, as South Africans had just shown them hospitality, and they had been around Johannesburg without being accosted or even treated with disdain, yet the reality went against their bias. We told them that fellow Africans who are here, with the same goal of building the country, are flourishing. We told them in our complex we have Nigerian, Zambian, Cameroonians, Zimbabweans and Ethiopians living in harmony with South Africans.
You guys act as though you don't know what's happening in SA and the nationalities people have a problem with. Ever heard of a Krnyan in SA complaining about it? Nigerians, Zimbabweans and others complain all the time though. Ask yourself why
You don't know how much we love you guys. South Africans are loving but we deslike anything that can tarnish our country like not following the laws. Other than that we good.
As a south African we are not xenophobic we just want our borders to be well controlled just like other countries and documented foreign nationals that's it. We are friends with our Kenyan counterparts we love you Namibia 🇳🇦
The path to healing is admitting the truth. You are clearly in denial about your afro phobic/xenophobic attitudes. If the whole of Africa is calling you out on it, we can't all be just imagining it.

Kenyans are well learned, they know history very well, ask any Kenyan anything from any country in Africa and beyond, anyway South Africa is a good country
Kenyan people you have a special place in the hearts of South African. You are well mannered. You respect other countries sovereignty. I have never heard of any Kenyan accused of criminality in this country. Well done my brothers and susters. I don't mind being being your inlaw. I fact I am hosting a Kenyan friend soon. Even Ugandan people are polished.
Take note, the former Colonial settlers, Britain had/have imparted their good manners, academic knowledge & language to their subjects but also allowed the cultures of the natives to merge with theirs, it is quite apparent when you visit different African countries. Those people in ex British Colonial countries are generally better educated, well spoken, very cultured & good mannered, diplomatic, and easier to get on with. Fact .
As a SAn, Its not easy being a citizen of a country where the whole world flocks into your country to exploit it. We all have a natural responsibility to protect our territories & thus not being xenophobic.
You cannot fight the Boers and British who occupy more than 80% of your productive land because you are cowards. So you vent out on Nigerians, Somalians and other fellow Africans.

South Africans are really friendly, especially the ones I've met in Kenya. They love to party, they love their alcohol, they love life and they are very very very focused.
Here are my comments. First, my stereotype about South Africans is that all South Africans are good at singing. I like their music a lot. I love Lucky Dube, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Ntombi Marubini, Pamela Nkutha, Mafikizolo, Zahara, etc. In fact, I feel like South Africans are the second best musicians after Congolese. Secondly, I feel like Black South Africans are proud of their Black race. They don't like pleasing Whites like Kenyans do. Lastly, my advice to Kenyans and other Africans; If you go to other countries, respect their laws, their culture, and interact with the people. Be nice to them and make that place a better place than you found it. Don't take crime, corruption, or indiscipline to that country. Do so and you will escape possible harsh experiences.

The media can make or break you. Our image has been seriously tarnished in the continent. I think it's because we as South Africans we don't restrict media coverage, we report everything. A lot of people don't understand the dynamics of South africa, how diverse it is. The melting pot of cultures from the Zulu nation, Chinese, Portuguese, Greeks, Lebanese, Africans, British etc. South africa is a great country off course with its problems like any other country but its beautiful don't let the media tell you otherwise.

Kenyans are very intelligent, all their answers were strictly based on economic and cultural aspects of the sa people. The Nigerians answered mainly based on how South Africans look physically.
Yeah but most i got to see how they closed minded and not exposed yet Africans claims to be exposed than us. i think most Africans don't have open mind, they only have one way to see things and i blame politicians for this, in SA, we are trained to rationalize our surroundings, there is never one way to define or explain an event

You are so funny! And ignorant. You sound like the Americans who are ignorant of the rest of the world and think everybody wants to go there..... NOT! The people who come as illegal immigrants to S.A. were already struggling in their own nations. They do not even account for 0.001 percent of their homelands. Majority of us other Africans are doing fine and are comfortable in our own countries with no interest in visiting, living in S.A. or any other country. "Flocking..." Smh. In Kenya we have had our share of illegal immigrants from nations with volatile history alongside our borders and beyond.... but we do not take the same stance that is in S.A.

Our 45th tribe in Kenya is the Shona from Zimbabwe whose forefathers immigrated decades ago with no paperwork but have lived peacefully in Kenya all these years. They are now citizens. Xenophobia towards fellow Africans is not acceptable.
@@ndukumusyoki9835 you are referring to history, we also have that history of Zimbabweans, Mozambiqeuns, Malawians who settled in the coutry ages ago and they received permanent residency status, we are against the current migration , in this day in age, where we all have to strive for the betterment of the entire continent, where poverty and famines should be fought with all means, but if nations are fleeing their countries and standing against their corrupt leaders, then we are not helping any course, we're just causing a burden to the countries which are trying to uplift their citizens. Coming back to your boasting about shonas in Kenya who just received their citizenship, if i were you, i would not have brought that subject on, because you Kenyans you contributed to their demise for decades for generations and its not like you had any other choice. 2. Note SA is not only attractive to African migrants, there are migrants from Asia, Europe and America, which we are able to control through pot of entry, but our African migrants are jumping fences through a number of countries before landing on our shores and ending up committing crimes if they can't find a legal means of survival, which is what we are against, we are against drugs dealings and human trafficking in our country, which is perpetuated mostly by foreigners, especially from west africa, and when we are taking a stance against this kind of behavior, we get labeled, for your information we just don't care, as long as we are creating a safer place for our next generation.

I'm an African first then, I'm a proudly south African, and one thing I can say about us south Africans is that we don't hate other African nationals, we hate crime being committed by other Africans who come into our country but not all of them and ofcuz we have our own citizens who are also criminals, in this country when we fight we fight as a team, all nine provinces; and when we fight something wrong protecting our country we being called xenophobic, but I blame the media by reporting nonsense just to sell papers, South Africa it's a beautiful country, and everyone from anywhere can come and stay in our country, ligally so to avoid crime when people are hungry...
Friends of mine who have travelled the continent tell me it is better you not say you from S.A. Just say you're from Eswatini or some other SADC country... Now I see why. Rather travel to Europe and America gents, much safer for you as a South African.🇿🇦

South Africa attained freedom in 94' just mere 28 years ago, we still have a long way to redress misfortunes of the past however the democratic government has made great strides with regard to provision of social grants, housing, electrification, business inclusion, water distribution, infrastructure upgrades, employment equity (affirmative action), land redistribution and loads more. Not forgetting our human rights inclined constitution that is exploited by other African migrants. We South Africans can never compare ourselves with countries that have gained independence 60 years ago. Nice to hear the views of others and we accept the criticism it can only help us to grow. I believe SA is misunderstood by most Africans, mainly because of the negative news about crime, xenophobia, etc. There is a lot of Africans living in SA than in any other country in Africa. Most of them are living there illegally, some are running small businesses. In Joubert Park, Hillbrow, Berea and Yeoville ares of joburg, more than 60% of residents there are not South Africans but people from other parts of Africa, and the population of that area is close to a million. Most South Africans do not have a problem with anyone. But I think some of the African brothers and sisters take advantage of SA laws and misbehave then when South Africans respond they are labeled as Xenophobic. There is good and bad people everywhere... Most of the people complaining will not go to Nigeria, Rwanda or anywhere and make noise like they do in SA.
