Also as you can see he is using the beatgrid as a visualiser. The blinking lights as you say are the effects and you csn see they are clearly been used. Try and be positive, if you didn't like it provide constructive feedback instead of potentially making people give on their hobbies and dreams.

The easy way: I hit record in my dj software, then sync the audio in post editing.
