Mark,I love that your videos are about the places, the towns, not about the weather and NEVER negative. You’re out there in wind & snow & cold and sunshine and salt air and embracing every bit of it. That is Life in Newfoundland, and it’s what you make it ! You are making it simple & beautiful AND HAPPY !🫶🏼
Yes, I love it there. Been there a few times. We have a family trip planned around the whole Burin peninsula for late-summer. Gonna take our time and enoy the whole area, and hopefully get over to St. Pierre too.
Looking forward to your future travels, I left St John's 50 years ago to join the navy, now retired and my wife and I spent a month in NL last summer doing most of the west coast that i never got to see as a kid. We plan on returning next year for a month or more .We have really been enjoying your travels .
Thank you! I have a few more videos in the works right now from my late-winter road trip and I have a couple of road trips planned for the summer so please stay tuned!
Thank you for your service in the Navy. I hope you have a wonderful retirement, and that you and your wife enjoy many visits to Newfoundland and Labrador! Cheers!
I am originally from Leading Tickles and i still have some family there. I really enjoyed this video. My dream as well is to visit every single town in NL. I also have never been to Buchans or Millertown. Let us know when your coming to central again. Yeah !!
Newfound is indeed a beautiful spot and so many unique communities with so much history. My wife and I took it on several years ago that we would go to a different area of the province each year set up base and then visit all towns in the area, I wish we had documented it. You're doing a great job.
That's a pretty tall order, no doubt! But with your enthusiasm and love for the province, I have no doubt you'll make a good run for it! I wish you good luck, and I look forward to all the videos to come. Wouldn't it be fantastic to cover all the towns/communities in Labrador, as well as the island portion of the province! ❤
I love Harbour Breton too and Gaultois! Burgeo is my hometown and I believe you will equally love it as much as Harbour Breton ❤ Such an awesome idea to hit every town in NL, what an adventure! Will be followung for your video from Burgeo and its beautiful beaches! Also a lighthouse there 😊
I will get to Burgeo one day! I have been through the southwest coast as far as Rose Blanche-Harbour le Cou, and of course the Harbour Breton/Gaultois trip, and I loved both areas so much. I want to see all the other communities in between too, but when I get to Burgeo I want to just stay and relax for as long as I can. I'll explore the whole area, but from what I have seen in pictures, I'll be blocking off time to do nothing but hang out at the beach for sure!
@@mark_royle_newfoundland one of the busiest weekends to go is the last weekend of July for the Sand and Sea Festival, always a wonderful time to be had if that time frame works for ya!
As a Townie i barely left the city as a kid. Even Mount Pearl was around the bay to me. I've travelled a bit around the Avalon but besides taking a bus to Port aux Basque i haven't really been off the peninsula much. Never been to Bonavista, never been to Burin, not the South Coast. I went to Roddickton once. It's a little embarrassing that most tourists have seen more and i am not an anomaly. I love your videos because i love Newfoundland so much and it inspires me to see more of it. Tourism and the world at large focus on the Irish influence on the island. I myself grew up in the Irish Catholic Townie tradition so while i heard Bonavista was lovely i figured it was full of Protestants so i never bothered. But Newfoundland is way more than Celtic culture. There are more English descendants than Irish, esp. off the Avalon, and there are very unique and lovely towns all throughout. Some of them in fear of dying so the time is now to see them before they are gone.
Great comment, thank you. You are definitely not alone with what you said. My obsession with seeing the whole province only came on over the past few years but I can't get enough now. Maybe it is just me getting older but I definitely appreciate things about this place that I didn't appreciate at all when I was younger. And the Irish culture of Newfoundland is a major point of pride for me, I grew up in the same tradition as you it seems, but it is by no means the experience of all Newfoundlanders. I just can't get enough. And I'm really happy that there are people like you who enjoy these videos.
As always your videos are wonderful….. they are helping to better understand just how beautiful Newfoundland and Labrador really are . Keep up the amazing work.
Hope you don't mind if i ask, but how do you fund this project financially? I'm hoping to visit for the first time in the fall but rental car prices are terrible out there.
Completely self-funded, which is the main reason my plan is to chip away at the map instead of taking some time to do it all in one long go (which I would really, really like to do one day...) I am making a little bit of money from UA-cam directly now, which is great, but it isn't a huge contribution yet. But the channel is growing... I have to say that my wife is very patient and she understands what I'm trying to do so when I scrimp and save on other things to support these road trips, she doesn't want to kill me (as far as I can tell anyway). The rental car situation is terrible. Have you tried Turo? I used it once in Newfoundland and it was great for what we needed it for, defintiely easy to use and the cost was surprisingly low.
@@mark_royle_newfoundland Yeah I'll look into that. Don't know if my car insurance provider would like it. Perhaps I could just stay in St. John's and take bus trip holiday to surrounding areas. Wishing you the best! Just seeing you don't like the spring. How come? I think I might be too old for NL. Don't think I can shovel that much snow.
Ohhh boy that's a tough question to answer. I actually have a couple of videos on this channel that try to shed some light on it. My favorites are Leo's in St. John's and By The Beach in Portugal Cove-St. Philip's but there are TONS of great spots all around the island... and apparently a spot in Red Bay, Labrador that is worth the journey just for the fish n chips (but I haven't been there yet)

Every town?!? This is amazing, Mark. The more videos of yours I watch, the more excited I get. I look forward to this!
Lofty goal, but I'm gonna do my absolute best!

Great video. Love Newfoundland & Labrador. The small towns are truly lovely, so many beautiful spots to explore ❤
Thank you. Yes, it sure is an amazing place full of beautiful little communities.
Cool stuff
