hey there. I'm considering buying the 955 or the 265. I'm a beginner runner, but an advanced swimmer and would later want to get into triathlon. With this in mind, what are your thoughts on choosing one watch or the other? I'm a techy person and I see that AMOLED will be the trend for these brands, but deep down I'd like to buy a sports watch and not just a smartwatch. What I wouldn't like is to feel like I bought something that will soon be obsolete. Thank you very much for your comments.
Hi! Your decision really all comes down to personal preference. Both the 955 and 265 are EXCELLENT watches, and you can't really go wrong with either. Both models share a lot of similar qualities (training readiness, multiband GPS, touchscreen), with main differences being mapping capabilities and display type. The 955 has full mapping capabilities while the 265 does not. The 955 has an MIP display, while the 255 has a AMOLED. My advice is to think about what you really want. If you would really value a bright crisp screen, go with the 265! If you prefer outdoor visibility, maps, and slightly better batter, go with the 955! Also keep in mind that the 265 is a newer watch, so it will likely continue to get updates from Garmin father into the future. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
@@khannaruns25 One more question, if the 955 is the same as the 265 except for the maps, battery and AMOLED screen, what are the differences with the 965? What would be the reasons to choose one or the other? Sorry, I'm new to the Garmin world, I understand that the 9xx series is the top of the line and the 2xx is the middle.
The 965 shares almost all the same features as the 955, but with the improved AMOLED screen. That means that the main advantage of the 965 is that it has full mapping capability, which the 265 does not. The 965 also had a titanium bezel (265 does not) and slightly better battery life. The 265 is also slightly smaller in case size than the 965, but that is entirely dependent on the size of your wrist, and whether you like a big or small watch. Personally, if you do not value mapping a lot, then there is not a significant different between the 965 and 265. Both the 965 and 265 even have an identical heart rate monitor! Think of the 965 as a 265 with better build quality, battery life, maps, and a couple of extra niche features (such as mid-run stamina updates). Hope this helps and let me know what you decide, and if you have any other questions!
MIP is superior, for my uses (i.e, outdoors). 955 has maps, music, and the same chipset as the 965. For me, the choice was easy, as the 955 is now had for around $400 US where I live.
I agree! I also had the choice between the 966/965 and I went with the 955 because of the MIP display. Big plus is that it is also cheaper. Would be interesting to experiment with a AMOLED display watch in the future to compare. Thanks for watching!
I’m currently deciding between the 955 and 265S. Not sure about the bigger size. Don’t care about AMOLED screen. With a perks discount, I can get the 955 for a little over £300. That’s a steal. I do wonder if it may come down more with Black Friday sales around the corner.
300 is certainly an excellent deal. I could image that the 265 line of watches will have some discount on black friday, but I could not imagine being further reduced from that amazing price.
I think the Enduro 3 is the best value Garmin watch currently on the market! I appreciate that Garmin kept the MIP display. They also made improvements to the solar panel and battery in the watch to allow it to have some of the best battery life in the industry. It is also important to note that Garmin dropped the price of the Enduro from $1099 for version 2 to $899 for version 3. Both are extremely reliable options in terms of GPS and HR accuracy (although the Enduro 3 has the newest Garmin HR sensor). If you want the extra battery life, solar, and updated user interface in the Enduro 3, I would say it is certainly an excellent buy!
Yes, as of now the Enduro 3 seems like the best value for money in Garmin's whole lineup! Definitely more expensive than the 955 but it sure packs a punch in features even compared to the new Fenix 8 lineup.
Do you think you could do a 100 mile ultra with this watch? I know garmin lists the gps life at 42 hours but in your personal experience with the watch do you think a 100 is doable?
I think that it is certainly possible. In fact, I have seen another UA-camr (Chase The Summit) use the 955 during his 100 mile race. If you have it in the "GPS Only" mode and turn off bluetooth, it should make it!
I had no issues whatsoever! In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by how quick and responsive the screen is to tapping and scrolling for being a MIP display.
The Garmin 955 has a few different satellite modes. GPS only is the lowest accuracy. All Systems On is the middle ground, and Multi-Band GPS is the highest level of accuracy you can get in a GPS watch. The 955 has Multi-Band, meaning it leverages multiple satellites to get you the best signal. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply.. maybe my question was incomplete.. intended to ask which all satellites this watch can pick up.. GPS, Glonass, Galelio and does it also support Beideou?
@@darsatdays749 You are not actually able to select which specific satellite system the watch is using, as it is done automatically. According to an article online, it switches between GLONASS, GALILEO, BeiDou, and QZSS based on which signal quality is the strongest.
@@darsatdays749 The 955 supports GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, BeiDou, and IRNSS (NavIC). SatIQ ("auto-select") is a great setting imo : good balance between accuracy and battery life.
Just ordered one. Was 299€ on sale and thats just too good when compared to 965’s price. I also like MIP display over Amoled, always on and battery life way more important to me.

MIP is always on even without backlight. Oled develop burn in so with time it will fail.
So happy i own the 965 over the 955.
