Best video on here. Straight to the point not talking about pointless things. Helped me understand the proper way to clean my gun as I'm new to shotguns.

Just broke out Napier's ultrajag, ultraclean and gun spray and I have to say that the results were amazing. I have used Bisley patches and oil with mop and brush and the difference was immediate. I cleaned the barrels AFTER I used my regular method and the barrels look even clearer. Nothing beats Napier. No I don't work for them.

Great product, but my worry too regarding the wood, I've always been very careful not to get oil on any wooden surface. But I wil definately give this product a try.

Looks like a Browning Citori GTS. Nice gun (I have one, bought in 2010)

Some people say store the gun with the muzzle downward so oil doesn't run back into the action and the inside of the stock. If you don't like doing this can you put a cotton wool ball in the chamber ?

This is the best video ive found to date, and use it as the basis for cleaning my shotgun.(Minus the grease at this stage,as i reckon it could attract dirt and grit)

animal79thecat as long as you don't drag your gun through dirt and be a "littol batch" with it, you should be fine. I shoot old doubles all the time. You don't want to over grease it. Just put it where it needs to be.

TomatheGreek Grease is for cars, oil is for guns. a gun does not need grease for it too work, oil is so it will not rust.
grease is good for the chokes treads, so they dont stick.

The "Oil is for guns and grease is for cars" comes from a Beretta gunsmith, you dont need grease for a gun to work, tell me what is does that is so great other than being there?

Leather The M1 Garand's OP rod will trash itself if you don't use grease. Its best to use grease on semi autos where oil will just run or vaporize off. Grease stays where it is put. Thats why people use it on the rails for pistol slides etc.. You use it on box lock guns, trigger sears, etc. Oil will vaporize off if gas is exposed to it.
I think you got the point.

Thanks for the video, I assume none of the products used are in anyway harmful to the wood? And also, are the two sides of the ultra clean easy to differentiate between? thanks.

doesn't the oil damage the wood when using so liberally?

Problem with the napier jag is that you need to double or almost treble wrap the jag with their ultra clean mop/paper or it doesn't even touch the inside edges of the gun to clean and it is way to expensive for that mop paper so a waist of money. I wonder if they did this on purpose so you have to buy more frequently.. in my case i just stopped using it altogether.

What i want to see is him putting the ultra clean on the jag from the start… just used mine for the first time and 1.) i didnt fucking stick to itself at all…. 2.) when twisting it, it just kept twisting… how do you anchor it to the jag at the start?

    I'm pretty sure it's not a browning citori 725 grade V.
The 725 grade V is 2013 model. The video is uploaded 2011

How are you supposed to get a gun in the UK?

I treat my over/under far better than this in fact probably better then changing a babies diaper, I use a lemon or tree oil on the wood and a museum wax if hunting in humid weather.

Please do not spray gun oil on wood,it will soften it, no need for gun grease as well .

Dont give it Grease, there is no need for it to be there.
And dont spray Oil into the action as he did, it Will funk up inside the moving parts.

Depends on oil type and how it is applied e.g aerosol, atomised. Grease in UK is different to what yanks define it as.
