No because when he sent pre-burn Vader to mustafar, Vader executed a shutdown command on the droid army. So that would take care of that, plus Palpatine could always find a way to take control of the Confederacy if they won.
Even after doing all of this taking over the Galaxy was still a challenge which is why the Reconquest of the Rim campaign happened before the Civil War, because there were still a bunch of Separatist holdouts and planets that did not want to submit

It’s kinda strange when you think about the Star Wars timeline. Anakin was 19 when the clone wars started (I believe), so at the end of the war when he turned into Darth Vader, he was only 22 years old. So I’m the early years of the Empire (as portrayed in the Darth Vader comics and other forms of media). The scary brutal warrior known as Darth Vader is just a young man. Doesn’t mean much but I just find it an interesting point.

Most likely because 1.) Even with the losses at Geonosis, the Order still had 10,000 Jedi that were naturally wary of the clones and on-guard at all times instead of later on in the war where they've grown used to fighting alongside them, and 2.) Palpatine used the war to expand his influence and policies while subtly leading a smear campaign against all non-human races, any form of rebellion against the natural order, and even the Jedi.
Also on top of that, as the Clone Wars keep getting more heated, more Jedis have left the temple to fight, leaving both themselves and the temple more exposed.
In short, he had to make the galaxy so broken and desperate that they would be perfectly willing to accept him, his empire and the long road of bodies left in his wake.
I thought along those lines too🤔 Seems like Palpatine played both roles in the end because just like Hitler, he came out of the shadows to rule like a prelude the Antichrist in the end😱
You know, the best thing about secrets is secretly sharing your secrets with someone, thereby secretly adding to their secret collection of secrets, secretly.
Because..... 1. The Jedi needed to trust the clones, from years of fighting together 2. The galaxy needed to hate the Jedi, 3 years of quite propaganda did that 3. Palpatine needed to grow more popular and powerful, over time the Senate gave him more power by rubber stamping all his bills 4. Palpatine needed control of the banks 5. The war blinded the Jedi from the approaching order 66. 6. The galaxy needed to be weakened and in chaos, so they would accept a strong man to bring peace. 7. Palpatine needed an excuse to put his personal military governors on each planet
Mohammad Salem His execution of 2. really makes no sense. How did Palpatine make propaganda against the Jedi without them finding out? The Jedi were also fighting on the front lines, so it makes no sense why the public (at least the Republic’s people) hates them.
Super Blue Toad I’m not entirely sure. I wish I could quote some legends sources but I don’t remember. I know the public blamed the Jedi. They were the face of the conflict other than the nameless clones. I think Republic propaganda subtle blamed the Jedi by constantly calling Dooku “a former Jedi master”. So, all the CIS war crimes were committed by someone taught by the Jedi.
I think in the clone wars cartoon palpatine was manipulating public opinion through posters and build boards that were blaming the Jedi for the war and its prolongness
In Legends "Essential Guide to Warfare", it stated in the Order 66: Road to an Empire section, there were 6 acts that allowed Palpatine to truly make his move. 1) Emergency Powers Act - eliminated term limits for the duration of the Separatist Crisis 2) Military Creation Act - established a centralized Republic military so Palpatine could order the clone troops into battle 3) Enhanced Security Enforcement Act - suspends many of the rights of citizens and essentially allows for the creation of a police state in the name of security 4) Reflex Amendment - allows Palpatine to bypass the Senate and the bureaucracy to conduct the war effort, which he used to create a quasi-military government system of governor-generals (essentially the forerunners to the organization of Moffs) 5) Supreme Command Amendment and Judicial Command Amendment - named the Chancellor the supreme commander of the military forces and the Judiciary forces to which the Jedi Order belonged (so technically Palpatine was head of the Jedi Order) 6) Sector Governance Decree - appoints regional and planetary governors for each sector and system, essentially making the system of governor-generals permanent
Great points. Palpatine streamlined the corrupt bureaucratic system that was the Old Republic. He accumulated his emergency powers and through legitimate means reorganised the Republic into the Galactic Empire. Using the Separatists as the enemy, he created a Grand Army totally loyal to the Republic, a Republic he was the Supreme Commander of (and he outranked the Jedi Generals in that Army). When nearly all entities were under his control, and the only two groups who could resist him weakened after years of war, Palpatine made his move. The Jedi coup gave him the perfect reason to issue the Executive Order (known as Order 66) to have the Army take out their traitorous Generals who had attempted to take over the Republic. Subsequently, Palpatine sent his loyal new enforcer, and second in command to eliminate the Separatist Council, the only force now capable of opposing him. Had the Jedi taken over, they would have (even if only temporarily) have done the same, and ruled the Republic enforcing their will with the Army.
My original thought about this was that he just waited for his apprentice and the Seppies main leaders to be killed so that taking control of the galaxy would be more easier......and I guess this can be said for Palpatine in Canon as well.

Amazing on how he had everything all logically planned out. And hope to hell I do ever write something in life,.... I too would like to have the whole logical flow with in the plot similar to this.
Obviously, he wanted to get Anakin on his side first. If he had the clones execute order 66 right away, It wouldn’t work as well because the Jedi didn’t trust the clones yet, and Anakin would lead the remaining Jedi to kill Palpatine .
I like to think that order #67 would be something trivial - "Galactic Vending machines will no longer take spare change but instead only electronic credits" - monstrous!
Interesting. It's mind blowing how utterly simple the plan was after all. All you need are secrecy, duplicity and patience... And the ability to maintain a straight face as you patronize your enemy. The Galaxy was ripe for the Sith to consume. Promise the Galaxy to the right people, let the Jedi embarrass themselves by exposing their role as Republic Enforcers and drop hints here and there that nothing is as great as it seems and that the "trustworthy" should be taking over. Then, just monitor and adjust as things take care of themselves.
It's a long enough time for all this to happen, without dragging on for so long that people could question his leadership. It may also be that it took three years for Anakin to be in just the right place (mentally speaking) for Palpatine to move into the final stage - kidnapped, Dooku dead, Grievous dead, Anakin turned, Order 66.
At the start of the war, the Separatist was at their prime because the Republic only got their sizable army after the Clones were produced. The tides turned to the Republic's favor once the Separatist began to struggle to fund their droid army. Palpatine's move to take over the banks sealed the Separatist's chance to hit back.
It honestly took awhile to hit me that Palpatine training Dooku wasn't just that he didn't have enough time to fully train a new apprentice from youth like he did with Maul. A former Jedi turned leader of the Separatists made the Jedi Order as a whole look more untrustworthy in the public's eyes. The whole thing was pretty genius.
And it makes it significantly more believable that the Jedi would plot and attempt a coup, and doubly suspicious that it happens right after said Jedi who’s leading the separatists died.
What Im still wondering is how the jedi couldn't sense the dark side in Palpatine after being so close to him every day? I mean I know you can use the force to hide your presence but he would have to do it constantly and that would drain him exhausting him, plus hes a politician and they have to do tons of work
I pretty much prefer the Legends-version of Order 66, cause many if not most clones knew the endgame of the Clone Wars. Clones from the 501st described their experience during the Clone Wars and Order 66 in their journals in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" from 2005. And I think that makes it just as tragic as their Canon counterparts and that's why I pretty much enjoy it. They were always loyal to Palpatine and the republic, not the jedi, even after 3 whole years. They knew about Order 66 all along and they went along with it, even in the prequels it is shown or at least hinted: - When Cody is informed of Order 66 by Darth Sidious, he says to the AT-TE to "blast him" referring the Obi-Wan scaling the cliff off to the side of the battle, that gun/AT-TE fires almost instantly after the order is given. It's already pointed in the direction of Obi-Wan and only needs to adjust slightly for elevation, it's aiming way off away from the battle, pointing at a bare cliff face only Obi-Wan is in that area. That gun was tracking Obi-Wan since he departed from Cody and his men, waiting for the signal "Blast him" which is so casually delivered by Cody. - When Yoda is attacked by Commander Gree and a scout trooper on Kashyyyk, Gree is off at the back and recieved a communique from Sidious and addresses him literally by his Sith name (just as Cody does), not as "Chancellor Palpatine". He then walks up to the scout trooper that stood right behind Yoda and nods at him. The scout trooper is not given a communique, he would've been overheard by Yoda if he had been given one, the scout trooper is given no order by Gree, who did receive the communique, he's just given a nod. A signal, a que. Like they were briefed beforehand and the scout trooper was standing, waiting for the position to take the shot, just waiting for the nod. It is just dark if you look at it that way... - Same as the Jedi on the speeder bike: the two (I believe) 91st Recon troopers on bikes accompanying her, look over to each other and nod like "Yep, I got the call. Let's do it". If they were inhibitor-chips, each clone would receive the order through their helmet and just act right there and then, not pre-plan and co-ordinate and nod to each other in a scheming way. - And Commander Bacara and his troops approached Ki Adi Mundi on Mygeeto and prepared to fire before they all took the shot at the same time. Bacara had probably already received the order beforehand and was probably waiting for the right moment. Also, in Battlefront 2, one of the clones said in his journals "Keeping Mundi in the dark wasn't easy". - And Commander Bly on Felucia probably received Order 66 beforehand as well and was waiting at the right moment before he and his men shot Aayla Secura. In "Battlefront 2", one of the clones reports about her death in his journals "General Secura wanted to make point of seeing us all off personally, said we were the best damn soldiers she'd ever fought with, it was a good thing we were all wearing helmets... Because none of us could bear to look her in the eye... And as much as I think the clones knew in the CWMMP, through the final stages of the war, the last few months. I think they knew. A darker plot to the inhibitor-chips of the new Canon.
He waited until victory was close at hand and he no longer needed the Jedi. After 3 years the Jedi came to trust the clones, and let their guard down. Plus all that was left was mopping up.
Great video. Palpatine had to ensure an environment and events that would justify it from a public relations and legal standpoint. The Jedi coup gave him that reason. And indeed Palpatine needed to accumulate powers and eliminate other entities and groups who might pose a threat to him. By the end of ROTS, the Jedi and the Separatist Leadership were the last entities capable of opposing him.
One thing I have always wondered is what did Palpatine say about all the children jedi after order 66, like I get it how everyone believed that the lie of the masters and knight's betraying the republic but everyone under the age of 10, there should of been some questions about that.
I mean it also helped the Jedi became friends with their clone soldiers and most even trusted their life’s with the clones soooo this most likely helped
Another reason is, that he wanted to wait until Anakin turned to the dark side, but also if Anakin would have not turned, Order 66 was his “Plan A” and “Plan B” at the same time.
It'd be interesting to see what an alternate history where Palpatine fucked up, and the Empire still formed but as a splinter of the Republic, resulting in a three way war between the Empire, Republic, and CIS
hey i love the videos but have you ever considerd doing longer videos? on topics ? i would love to have like 20+ min lore vids from ya :D tho i mainly love Dark side or the force in general or like dig deep into what was Aincent Sith alchemy? etc? even History vids like all Sith empires etc`?
My personal thoughts why as well... 1) Clones were still inexperienced (at least to take on the Jedi) 2) The jedi (at least most) needed to trust the Clones
He also did it while very powerful and high council members were deployed and not at the Jedi temple. They were at their weakest with the council not leading the temple.
I think it'd be logical to assume Palpatine also waited until Anakin turned to the dark side.
That's right.

This is why people love Star Wars because how detailed and realistic it is
Love Your vids!
Great video and palpatine was really patient.
Amazing on how he had everything all logically planned out. And hope to hell I do ever write something in life,.... I too would like to have the whole logical flow with in the plot similar to this.
This is really concise and well put-together, and I'm just gonna show this to anyone if they ever ask me a similar question.
After watching this video I felt like there was an Order 1-65 to get to Order 66. Dang that's some hardcore planning.
Taking over the Scipio banks was also important
2:25
Kronk: “ *It’s* *all* *coming* *together*”
The Lore Master RULES!
Best Chess Player in Star Wars? Palpatine
There goes by the old saying in the branch of service. "Loyalty to the End"
As Maul said in TCW:
"Brilliant".
Right off the bat, potato head being pumped full of blaster fire.
Timing is everything
awesome art work =]
So extremely well made
Basically. The fact he did this in 3 years is impressive
this video should be called “palpatines true genius”
Can you make a video of if there was ever taller clone than other
There wasn't ,
they were all the same hight since they all had the same genes
I think a clone named axe was taller because of some defect.
He was playing 4D Chess 😂
I'm more curious to why the war lasted for 3 years, can you explain why?
It's a long enough time for all this to happen, without dragging on for so long that people could question his leadership. It may also be that it took three years for Anakin to be in just the right place (mentally speaking) for Palpatine to move into the final stage - kidnapped, Dooku dead, Grievous dead, Anakin turned, Order 66.
Joseph Simpson not bad. this is good.
anju31x wtf
At the start of the war, the Separatist was at their prime because the Republic only got their sizable army after the Clones were produced. The tides turned to the Republic's favor once the Separatist began to struggle to fund their droid army. Palpatine's move to take over the banks sealed the Separatist's chance to hit back.
He had to play the long con.
Super video. I was thinking if you could do a "Top 10 jedi turned sith" in the future.
that's why the Clone Wars writers are ABSOLUTE GENIUSES
You my friend are an absolute genius!
Nice video discussion. Keep it up.
You forgot about how he shielded Anakin from the people's skepticism. He was a well-known RESPECTED Jedi thanks the Palpatine's public opinion.
He covered that in another video.
palpatine made big brain moves start to finish
He waited so he could *DEW IT*
And we shall have... peace...
Damn palpatine is good with politics with influencing things so that they always benefit him that's some skill with politics he's got
What Im still wondering is how the jedi couldn't sense the dark side in Palpatine after being so close to him every day? I mean I know you can use the force to hide your presence but he would have to do it constantly and that would drain him exhausting him, plus hes a politician and they have to do tons of work
Corascant is built over an old planet that was dedicated to the Sith. The dark side was heavy.
@@micdrop344 Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!
@@OGSpaceMarine, particularly, the Jedi Temple was built over the Sith Temple.
@@micdrop344 WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! O.O
Thank you Lore!
And probably also the fact that he couldn’t issue the order with Grievous around as he would take the lightsabers so it had to be until he was dead
They knew about Order 66 all along and they went along with it, even in the prequels it is shown or at least hinted:
- When Cody is informed of Order 66 by Darth Sidious, he says to the AT-TE to "blast him" referring the Obi-Wan scaling the cliff off to the side of the battle, that gun/AT-TE fires almost instantly after the order is given.
Palpatine cries out in pain as he strikes you.
One thing I have always wondered is what did Palpatine say about all the children jedi after order 66, like I get it how everyone believed that the lie of the masters and knight's betraying the republic but everyone under the age of 10, there should of been some questions about that.
ever heard of child soldiers ?
He wanted to say I AM THE SENATE so badly!!😂😂
This feels like the state of things in our world today. This galaxy is very close to home.
I would really like a "House of Cards" TV show about Palpatine taking over the Republic one day.
I mean it also helped the Jedi became friends with their clone soldiers and most even trusted their life’s with the clones soooo this most likely helped
You should make a versus video with fives against echo, I think that would be pretty cool
It's logical question and everybody know the answer
Also the clone wars took the focus of the Jedi away from Anakin, thus allowing palpatine to manipulate him without concern.
The Senate: Commander Fox execute order sixty five
Commander Fox: It will be done my lord
The Senate: *Oh fuck* I ment order *siXTy siX*
The clone wars is four years or three?
Great Video
You gotta hand it to Palpatine; he really thought his plan through.
Sheev is one very smart boi no wonder he wanted to wait before he DID IT.
If you give your Liberty up for security, you deserve neither - Benjamin Franklin
My personal thoughts why as well...
1) Clones were still inexperienced (at least to take on the Jedi)
2) The jedi (at least most) needed to trust the Clones
Well
1.he had to ruin the Jedi image
2.he got discovered
Palpatine must be the greatest politician ever
You know, war has many purposes.
And never changes
Good Soldiers follow orders.
How come this video just made me think of the Dark Lord himself...
Jason Genova...
I can already guess why but i like to hear ur synapses on the topic
That's big brain
He also did it while very powerful and high council members were deployed and not at the Jedi temple. They were at their weakest with the council not leading the temple.
