Yes, 14800$ US is too much indeed. I think 167$ US (12000 INR) would be a fair deal. As for the scooter and AC, it's a total rip offs. You can get an average scooter (like shown here) or even better in 12k-20k price range and also for the used AC for 300$ US (24000 INR) is a bit too much considering there are new ones available from (1999 INR) onwards. Hey Eddy, if I were you I'd start with a trip to see where you like in India. And if you search "high yield savings account" you should find an account for your money with a decent interest rate. If you don't plan on spending it then an Index fund in the stock market is where I would put my money but please do your research as that is just what I would do and I'm not a certified financial advisor :)
If you put 50000 Canadian dollar in a Flexible Fix deposit, you will get 7 percent in India. Which is 3500 Canadian dollars year which is roughly 300 cad per month which is 16,000 inr . You can easily rent a house for entire month in that.

Would it be difficult for unmarried foreign girl to rent in Tiruvannamalai? How can foreigners find a house to rent? Do you have a work permit visa or regular tourist visa while living in India? I´m from Europe and wanna live in India. Can you give me advice how to do it without having to renew visa every three months to Sri Lanka or Nepal?
You can.... but why thiruvanamalai ? Its a very small town like place. The ideal is to get a place that's secluded...yet very short drive form amenities of all kinds. Ping me and ill share more. Im from south India and can share the max info that i can on the best places you can get.
You can come here on tourist visa which is for 6 month . Then after that you need to renew it. Dont know about other places but in vridavan and mayapur lots of foreigners live there.
This was super helpful! I Want to spend 4-6 months a year in India, but have not yet decided on which area i want to land There are SO MANY that i love. How did you decide to settle in this particular area? I would want a non touristy area, but i am not opposed to Pushkar or Dharamshala or Jaisalmer or Kerala...
I'm from South Western State of Goa but I guess if u want to enjoy hilly areas u should do some research on northern states like uttrakhand. Basically you should decide on the factors like cost of living ( which is very cheap in india) health facilities etc. Try to read the reviews of the area's you mentioned on Quora or some other websites. Kerela ,Delhi, Goa and many other places have good health facilities. Some places in rural areas of Maharashtra like ganpatipule and Mahabaleshwar r also good. If you like South of india then Kerela will be a good choice but you too should continue your research
Dharamshala will be good for you- good weather, has a no of Americans living and exploring the area, decent city snd you can find a beautiful quiet place as well for cheap.

@@bjenks thanks so much it was usefull be safe
If you put 50000 Canadian dollar in a Flexible Fix deposit, you will get 7 percent in India. Which is 3500 Canadian dollars year which is roughly 300 cad per month which is 16,000 inr . You can easily rent a house for entire month in that.
Interest rates have gone down recently so its around 6% right now on a fixed deposit
I wouldn't suggest any place to live coz every place is different from another.
Could you upload about the GiriValam around mount Arunachala ?
Yup itz very gentle price you got for the house... every location has diff price in india 19-20 variation. But Cool👍
Okay thank you for sharing
Bro others are talking about rent it seems a 20$ more than avg for that spacious unit you got... but the scooter is ripoff... you can buy second hand for 20k rupees bro and first hand for 40-50k... dump the scooter to that owner... it’s a ripoff
I'm from Austin. I remember the rent there. 90's was expensive and I heard it's insane now with all the Tesla, Samsung, Dell, etc.
I'd love to chat with you some time.
I'm coming to New Delhi next year and was thinking about renting a home base for a few months. I have some places I plan on seeing but I'd kinda like to stay in one place for a while. Experience the daily life.
Awesome video. Great info. The prices of the food seemed expensive to me.
Is your only source of income is youtube ???? Your paying a lot for a village , I hope you come shimla , Himachal Pradesh ... Shimla is Queen of hills .

Benj AWESOME vlog. Short and sweet. You can make long ones or short ones. It´s all about doing YOU and stuff most peeps like.I really hope to have a Ganesha Chaturti experience next year in INDIA. I have my mind set on INDIA in 2022. For now I must return to Colombia in December for some personal matters. OOOOOOPS! Placed this comment in the wrong vlog. Sorry!

It’s crazy how many people moving out of USA. Thinking out the box which it’s good. America it’s good but the world it’s huge
Don't miss to visit....OSHO International Resort....at Pune (Nr. Mumbai)....
I would like to see thanks Ashok
Rent is somewhat high in Tiruvannamalai Dude no need to pay this much
Make a video about the problems you faced in India during lockdown or due to lockdown!! How it ruined your travel plan!!
Good idea!
watched this atleast 20 times now in anticipation of my my move to india in oct, i could watch endless tv walkthrus
good luck!
Every region in India has it's own idiosyncrasies. So don't assume what's being shown here applies for all over. Though, the interior and facilities are almost same, the outside can differ a lot.... security, people, street noise, street cleanliness, etc.
You should mention the city rent varies according to the city in India
Good point
And varies WILDLY at that.
Bro. For tiruvannamalai the rent is higher. You are being taken for ride bro
🤦♂️
Yes, 167$ is a lot for a remote place, probably includes agent commission.
Lol that was a cool workplace. I'm looking to move to india in november. And the first thing im looking for in the furnished apartments are a good place i can work on my computer. Sick vid made me hyped!
Why dont you google pay or make online payment to rent owner instead. No need to withdraw huge amt cash and carry cash in person which might be risky.
Gotta love a cash economy.
You mean to say that the tap water is contaminated 🤔?
To be safe, you should never drink it. It may be fine in some instances but it may be contaminated in others and it would be difficult to know
@@bjenks for a local people it's completely okay to drink tap water in india as most of homes don't have filters
@@suryadeepsinh8757 we don't have filters in our home coz our underground water's quality is good ❤️ nd it's sweet too ❤️.
Tap water is not contaminated.
But as an outsiders u will have to take some times to adopt the quality.
However, I don’t think the whole of India would have the same prices for rent, etc. you should mention what part of India you are paying for these things. In that way if one visits that part of India they know what to expect.
Yeah this is a inexpensive place
Hello I wanted to find out more because my father is born and raised in India and my mother is from Europe. I am moving to India in a matter of a month and I was thinking of New Delhi. What do you think and what are your thoughts as an American woman have Indian living in India? And what should I do for work while I am there? Because I’m not looking to come back to the United States! People don’t realize how bad the United States is on several aspects!
All depends on what you need. I prefer South India, Kochin and Goa are fantastic and reasonable. Delhi can be rough.
@@aryan6536 thank you so much for your comment I apologize for getting back to you so late. I have to be somewhere near New Delhi because my family is from there and that's where I'm going to be searching.
I would not recommend to stay in New Delhi. It is not much safe for women/ tourists. Chandigarh and Punjab is much better.
@@MO_69 okay thank you so much but I am going to come visit New Delhi for about a month and then I can go to a better place

Questions… look… I’m a regular mom of 5 boys. What city are you in? The bars… is it safe? Is the heat humid or dry? (I live in Florida right now)
Planning on coming for sometime. Best and cheap place for my money.
What stores in India are you buying couches at ?
lot of furniture stores around
I love ur background music
I live in Austin to haha🤣I pay 1,300 for 2 bedroom-1bath
The rent is not the same in every city tho
Mumbai would be somewhat like austin...delhi, banglore would be cheaper tho.
Do you recommend a place where I can stay for a month in Thiru?
Athena approved 👍🏽 Your home is very beautiful and peaceful looking.i hope that you will continue to make content about your life in India.i will be watching.i am a new subscriber 😁

Thinking about India. I was raised by a southern Indian family. Are you able to buy prime cuts of beef in India? Considering the cow is a sacred animal.
Some states eat beef, like in Kerala and in the Northeast. I haven't seen any prime cuts
Yes you can. But where he lives, it's Tiruvannamalai, a sacred city, so meat is kind of taboo, but available in muslim areas. I get good organ meat from nearby muslim neighborhoods, it's good price.
do i need a schooter licenses?to drive?
Get international driver license to be safe. I have us license. No one has ever asked though

I think you spending too much or over rated.
I spend 400-500€ a month (including 200€ monthly house rent and with a luxurious life style in Bangalore even after paying my credit card)
And I save about 1000€ a month.
Show us the way bro!

My wife and I and both engineers and earn about 10 lakhs rupees a year.
Net Salary is about 80000 with incentives.
We pay a rent of 200 € (16000₹)
Instead of renting a bike we purchased it.
If you purchase a second hand bike in good condition then it will cost you only 1 or 2 months rent.
Example u purchase it at 20000 and resell it at 12000₹ your efficient cost is only 8000₹.
Swiggy will not work in your area so you might better cook at home.
Grocery bill for 5 people is 15000₹
I have a son who needs experience stuff like dipers etc.
Petrol cost is 1500₹ for bike and 3000 for car(not during CoronaCrisis) it's even lesser during CoronaCrisis.
Monthly vacation cost is 5000 including petrol, alcohol and petrol for car.
I don't know how you are paying more than 40000₹/ month in a small village in TN.
I am talking about a luxurious life style.
You can come to Bangalore and visit my home.

You Must visit northen India tooo......
I have seen some, more videos coming about those trips
what city is that?
What is the internet like?
Loving your videos, Benjamin. What do you reckon I would need per month to live in a major city such as Delhi?
I wouldnt try for less than $1000 a month at first. Longer you live there the more you will figure out how to live cheaper and better. At first though if you try to go to cheap you may have a poor time
As an Indian living in Delhi (have lived in US for 15 yrs) you can live here for the same price in a decent locality. As in $300 per month - you will find a 2-3 bedroom easily. I know because we rented our house in a good locality for that amount. But if you are looking for a beautiful experience Ben knows better!
how is the landlord there??
Good, I like him
Was that Arunachala mountain?
Yes it is...
