    • @d_kortman
      @d_kortman Рік тому +392

      @@chirags7265 expanding on the previous reply, when you brake, your body want to stay in motion like they said. This is because your weight is separate from the car. A body remains in the state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless and until an external force acts on it. Putting Newton's 1st law of motion in simple words, a body will not start moving until and unless an external force acts on it.
      Basically, once you start braking, the car will start to slow down, but your body will want to keep moving at the same speed. Because you’re wearing a harness, your upper body will be held in place, but that force is still pushing your legs forward since they’re not strapped down.
      Since your legs will want to keep moving forward, and the stiffness of the brake is really high, it is much easier to reach a higher brake pressure. Because of the g forces, your legs will weigh much much more, allowing you to overcome the stiffness of the brakes.

    IIRC, they have the brakes like that because it’s hard to rest your foot while zipping around a racetrack without slightly riding the brakes which was a problem in older cars.

    This is just 1 of many reasons why winning a the WDC is not just because the driver has the quickest/fastest/best car. Sure, it goes some way to helping, but as the tagline goes; “Power is nothing without control.”

    Because they are basically horizontal when they apply the brakes the driver is forced forward multiplying the force on the brake pedal.
    Momentum is a unbelievably strong force

    The g-forces the driver is placed under when breaking actually help to apply more pressure than the driver can exert themselves on the brakes. Kinda like a positive feedback between breaking and the added Gs
