Great video. My mirrors are playing up (but still working randomly). And van beeps when i lock the van. Assuming this will be the issue. Ill peel back the rubber grommet and take a look. Thanks! Great video and looks easy to follow. I normally lose interest in videos like these because camera angles are rubbish and all you can hear is the wind on the camera. Thanks again
@@Martysworkshop hi mate, back again 😂 just took the rubber sleeve off and pulled it back to expose wires. It's full of water. How on earth does it get in there? Was fitted tightly to the door and the van itself?
I would say it's more than likely coming in from the door side, if you take the door apart, see if the harness is elevated causing it to fun down the wires,
Very helpful video, i followed all your instructions, right up to the bit where you take off the boots in the door opening. Virtually all my wires were broken or about to break....Just had to fork out £155 for a new door loom....i'm dreading trying to fit all that back through those small holes...wish me luck..lol.
My thoughts on hinge wiring repairs, they almost always fail at any part that restricts the wire (in this case the fibre tape) I like to leave all the wires loose inside the rubber, i definitely dont tape them up as a bundle. I want to say it was bmw boot hinges that taught me that lesson, but may have been some convertible or other. Thank-you for the video, I dont "do" commercial vehicles but have a mate with a transit with no indicator in the mirror, and now I know where to look first. and on the crimp Vs solder debate. if the wires mint, solder. if the wires even remotely oxidised, crimp. IMHO.
@@Martysworkshop And apparently his drivers windows been broke ages too... id have got to the hinge wiring but likely id have repaired it in situ and not pulled the harness like you shown, made an aquard repair an easy one. thankyou!
Thanks. Great video. I'll have a go at my passenger door (which beeps twice and won't lock) seems to have water coming from it into foot step too🤔 Anyone else experienced this ?🤔
Hi Marty, Great video on the van again, always enjoy your van videos. Don't know if you read my last comment so ill put it here. just wondering if you are still going to do a video about your transit custom, and how bad they rust/don't rust compared to the mk6/7 transit. Cheers Thanks again
Sorry I have had a buissy weekend so been meaning to message you back, I'm servicing my van towards the end of next week so will get that done for you mate 👍
@@Martysworkshop Hi mate, no worries Marty. I really appreciate you doing that for me mate. Hoping to get one very soon, I’m buggerd with arthritis mate so can’t get down to look under them to see how they rust. I had the mk6 and mk7 and they rotted like mad, lol. All the best.👍👍👍
Hi mate, I have a problem were my reverse lights only work for a few seconds and then they turn off on my 2017 Ford Transit. I have replace the reverse light switch but still no luck. I tested the voltage of the reverse light wire and it has 5V but supposed to be 12V. I have asked many mechanics to fix this but they can't. All the other lights work except for the reverse lights. Do you have any advice? Do you know where the fuse is?
I'm not sure tbh, modern vehicles rear lights are ecu controlled so don't believe there is a fuse for it or a relay, it's usually controlled by the lighting module
Hiya bro...Good channel....don't suppose you know what wire goes were on bk of heated transit mk8 mirror....I have 2 wires and forgot to see what side they go onto back mirror pannell
@@Martysworkshop hiya marty,,yes but okay now buddy,iv sorted it....thank you so much for your swift reply m8... I changed the clear indicator lens and cracked the big drivers mirror in process...nightmare.. lol Thanks anyway marty bro🙏👍👌
Just had same problem on 2015 transit pickup but changed wiring loom for another new genuine ford loom new window regulator still no joy fuses all good 🤔
I have an issue where the van doesn't sense when the driver's door is opened so for instance the radio will stay on and interior lights don't turn on but the passenger door is fine, all switches work fine on the driver's door, windows, folding mirrors/ adjustment and locking, could it be within the harness? Or from what I can make out is the sensor must be in the latch? As it's not like older motors where there was a little push switch on the door frame. Any suggestions are appreciated?, It's had a security barrel/lock put in on the driver's doors, that couldn't be an issue?
I was allways a firm believer of soilder joints but just find that unless the wire is brand new it has a tendnsey to fail, just my opinion tho I can see the pros and cons to both, thank for your feedback and for watching
Which fuse would it be for the folding mirror. Everything works apart from my folding mirrors. I can adjust the mirrors but they just won’t fold in on the switch
Hello, my ford transist custom 2015 Central lock system is not locking doors makes horn when we press lock on remote also rear door is not opening. Can you help me.
Hello, so all the doors have a sensors in them so I'd one is saying open it will sound the horn to warn you, if you drive the van does a warning come on the dash saying a door is open?
Well if you have 1 door that won't open I would start there, try opening various doors and try to pull off, see if a chime goes of with a warning on the dash you can rule them doors out then.
And who was the complete bellend at ford who decided it was a good idea to make all 30plus wires black🙈 I’ve just had to try and work out which was which I had 6 to repair! But I soldered extra wire in & used heat shrink sleeving, and the jobs a good un👌

I have heard it can be done, but I beleve it is something that needs to be done programed in an ecu. Are you a member of cog (custom owners group) on Facebook? I would ask on there as that's where I get all my info from. Thank you for watching.

Hello stu, I doubt the lock would cause this, it could be the wiring or the catch, you need to strip the door down to repair either
Had the same issue on the mk8 transit cargo, best off soldering though I would have thought?
