This is amazing! Every carpenter I know has a love-hate relationship with plywood but I would never have thought to stick it on a lathe! Incredible work, sir!
I learn something new from every wood turner. I’m pretty new and need all the help I can get! Seeing you offset it like that opens up so many doors. It’s a beautiful piece sir.
I've turned a dozen or so plywood bowls. I like to fill voids with fine shavings and the thin CA glue. I love the offset idea. That's going to be my next project. Thanks for the inspiration.
I probably should use something like that, but glue on my fingers reminds me of being at school and making models out of cereal boxes and cardboard tubes.
I greatly enjoy your videos!! I was raised to improvise and make do with what I had. Your videos are a great example of that with great results!! Turn on!!
I like it very much it’s amazing how you make plywood look so good. I also like the offsetting part. Thank you for another great project for me to try. If it half as good as yours I will be very happy. Cannot wait for your next turning 👍👍👍
Plywood can be beautiful and your piece certainly was. Just tilting it that bit made such a difference. Bet the ply blunted your tools fast though! Love your videos, thank you.
Nicely done sir very nicely done indeed. The offset turning brings out some very interesting results. It makes one look twice at the pattern. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Fantastic looking bowl RDM. The offset angle on this was a stroke of genius! Have you thought about creating 'plywood' from semi decent wood just to avoid any voids in the final piece? I'm not decrying use of Starbond (great product) but just to get that (near) perfect bowl... Thanks for sharing this. All the best. Ray
Great bowl RDM, off setting it was a brilliant idea. You gave it a great shape and having it showing so many layers at once is awesome. Keep on turning. Cheers, Bluey 👍
Very clever and very nice....good thinking. I have a question: I noticed you used traditional bowl gouges on the outside of the bowl but went to a scraping tool for the inside.....was there a particular reason? Thanks again; Peter
I started by hoping that the traditional tools would stand up to the glue and mixed grain of the plywood. After sharpening my bowl gouge twice, I gave up and went to a round carbide tipped tool. This was a much better choice, but I still managed to dull and brand new tip, just from the inside alone! Hope that makes sense. Cheers 👍
I’m not familiar with the sanding sealer you’re using. Does it give you the finish you show after one coat, or does it depend more on the sanding prep? Interesting project and good looking results. Thanks
I'm going to have to get the plywood sheet out and see how it's getting on! Excellent job Roy, (I'm going to call you Roy), I wouldn't have used the black myself, I would have used thin and fine sawdust or coffee. But, hey, , personal choices. :-) Well turned!
Mounting it off set made all the difference!
Good idea. 👍
It definitely did! Thank you very much 😀
Interesting project with construction plywood. Interesting result as well.. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
❤ Most people don't realize how beautiful pallet is ❤
It really is. Thanks for watching
Wow! that looks great for plywood! gonna try this myself, thanks for the inspiration!!
Happy to help. Good luck!!
Bravo, that offset did extraordinary things to the final turned product. Well done!
Thank you very much 👍
This is amazing! Every carpenter I know has a love-hate relationship with plywood but I would never have thought to stick it on a lathe! Incredible work, sir!
Thank you so much for watching. 👍
Who would've thought that plywood could be so pretty!
Thank you. It turned out much better than I hoped! ❤😎👍
Awesome job gonna have to try that
Have fun. 😀👍
I learn something new from every wood turner. I’m pretty new and need all the help I can get! Seeing you offset it like that opens up so many doors. It’s a beautiful piece sir.
Thank you. It was a last minute decision, which transformed the bowl. 👍
I've turned a dozen or so plywood bowls. I like to fill voids with fine shavings and the thin CA glue. I love the offset idea. That's going to be my next project. Thanks for the inspiration.
Sounds great! Good luck 🙂👍
I love the colours that comes out of plywood. Beautiful piece.
Thank you so much!
Very attractive from plywood!
Thank you very much 😎
Oh my, looks like the storms on Jupiter. Very interesting idea to offset it.
Thank you very much! 😃👍
Very cool! ❤
Thank you 👍
From simple boring plywood to a beautiful interesting bowl! Stunning work.
Glad you like it! 😎👍
Very well done. The offset was an excellent idea
Glad you liked it!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! Cheers!
By off setting you made a very unique bowl. Well done.
Thank you very much for watching!👍😀
No idea why 46 people decided to be on Santa's bad list this year. Loved your offset bowl. Keep at it.
Thank you very much. Definitely one of my best pieces. Cheers 😊👍
That actually turned out better than I had expected!! Good job.
Thank you very much 👍
Thus proving that with enough glue you can do anything. Cool bowl I’m starting one tomorrow. Thank
Good luck! Hope it works out. Many thanks 👍
I use a set of small kitchen spatula's to spread my glue. They work great and the glue won't stick to them.
I probably should use something like that, but glue on my fingers reminds me of being at school and making models out of cereal boxes and cardboard tubes.
It's really really really nice and inventive congratulation
Thank you very much 👍
now this i have to try
It's loads of fun, but blunts your tools!!! Good luck
Genius idea !
Glad you think so! 👍😀
I have made many objects from scrap plywood. All kinds of fun doing it. I will try the offset next time. Thanks for the idea.
Making something useful from scrap is do rewarding. Good luck! Thanks for watching 👍
what a great job ,,,,,,,,,,,,,keep it up
Many many thanks 😀👍
Nice concept by offsetting the attachment. I might try it one day. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you very much 👍
I’m gonna have to give this a try. Thanks for sharing!!
Glad to offer a few ideas. Good luck.
The offset is a great touch and makes the bowl. Excellent!! Nice bowl!!
Thank you very much! 😎👍 It's still one of my favourite bowls!
Awesome! The offset is a smart idea. Congrats keep turning.
Thanks, will do!😎👍

Thank you very much for such a positive comment. It's so rewarding to hear! 😎👍
Incredible idea
Huge thank you
That is awesome! Try that again with your blue and yellow in between. Like the other bowl with the yellow and red. Love it.
I am definitely going to play around with plywood a little more. Hopefully I can add some extra colours. Big thanks for watching 😎👍
I've been watching wood turning videos for a couple of weeks and every time I think I've seen everything one of you show something else that's so cool
Glad you like them! This one is a special bowl! 😃👍
I am going to have to try this.
Good luck! It is a great project to try out.
That turned out really cool. Nice job. Beautiful bowl. The offset made all of the difference.
Yes it does! Definitely something to try again in the future. 😎👍
Great work. This piece it's beautiful. Awesome 😊😊
Thanks a lot 😊
Wow wasn't expecting it to look that nice. Great job & idea!
Many thanks 😊
I really like the offset. You created a beautiful bowl.
Thank you very much! 😀
You can use thin-set super glue and sawdust to fill voids...I love the awesome lines you created in that piece...
Thanks for watching. I was in two minds to use sawdust or coloured CA glue. I think I got away with it, as the voids were quite deep. Cheers 😎😎👍
That was cool.
Thank you very much 😊👍
Outstanding.Thank you for sharing.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much for watching 👍
Plywood, amazing looking, I think I’ll try it, thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for watching 👍

Great piece. Off setting it works brilliantly

Thank you very much. Yes the off set is the star here!

Carbide tools really helped with this one... so much glue! Thanks for watching 😃
That offset will drive anybody with OCD out of their mind. I love it.
Hahhahaa - Thank you very much. 😎👍
Nice. Well done.
Thank you very much. Stay safe 😀👍
I like it.
Cheers 😎👍
Great use for plywood scraps. Love the offset!
Yes! Thank you! 🙂👍
Nicely done sir very nicely done indeed. The offset turning brings out some very interesting results. It makes one look twice at the pattern. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Thank you for watching! Cheers! 😎👍
this shows me that i can use anything even plywood to turn. That helps someone like me since im just now getting into turning
Delighted to help. I’ve only been turning just under a year now. Scrap wood projects are my new thing!
Really great bowl brilliant I think I’ll have a go at doing one like that stay safe
Thank you very much for watching 👍
Love the offset. Amazing bowl. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like it!
Very nice! the offset mounting makes all the difference!
Thank you very much. I've never done one like this before, but it's definitely one that I want to try again with a larger bowl. 😀
I was thinking that was good ply as no voids hahaha. Turned out nice with the offset
Thank you! Cheers!
I like those jaded lines in the bowl.
Thank you. Yes I’m really pleased with this effect... although it was a bit hypnotic when spinning on the lathe 😀
Super!
Thank you 😀
Beautiful bowl Jim.
Thank you kindly
That turned out well!
Thank you very much 😀
Sencillamente hermoso trabajo, FELICIDADES!!👏👏👏

Thank you very much. It’s a very interesting bowl.
I liked the offset also....But I would have loved to hear some comments as you work .🤪
Offset added a lot of interest, great idea!
Thank you so much. 👍
That is really pretty and I love how you turned it offset.
Thank you very much. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the effect is brilliant. Definitely one to upscale in the future.😎
Very cool! I enjoy your beautiful work!!
Thank you so much 😀
That offset added a really cool effect 👍
Thank you very much 😀
Yo soy de México.
Muy bellos tus trabajos.
Me gusta mucho cuando usas varias piezas de madera para trabajar.
Felicidades my friend...
Thank you very much 😀👍
Immer gut, ein Handwerkerwerk zu sehen
Vielen Dank fürs Zuschauen 😀 - (I hope that this translated ok - Thank you very much for watching)
Nice Job.
Thank you very much 😀👍
cklever idea i love it
Thank you for watching 😀👍
Nice work! Good idea with your face plate ring to get the offset.
Thank you. It was chance that I thought of it, but what a difference!
Beautiful bowl 🤗
Thank you! Cheers! 👍😎
@@RDMWoodturning Cheers 🤗
Use a silicone spatula or sauce battery instead of a glue spreader, works wonders and are super cheap
I really do need to buy a couple. Thanks
That is so cool. Thank you.
Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for the steer Ray. I am currently going through a 'glue up' phase, so I might well give that a try down the line. 😀
i guess Im pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Joel Zeke i use Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Eric Bryan Definitely, I've been using FlixZone for since april myself :)
@Eric Bryan thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it!!
Great bowl 😁👍🏼👏
Thank you! Cheers! 👍
Great bowl RDM, off setting it was a brilliant idea. You gave it a great shape and having it showing so many layers at once is awesome.
Keep on turning.
Cheers, Bluey 👍
Glad you liked it! First comment too!!!
Superb.....big like
Thank you! Cheers!
Good idea
Like
Thank you 😀👍
would be cool if you used a colored resin to adhere the pieces together
Thanks for the idea 😎👍
I am going to try this. Thanks for all the links and good photography. Is the offset 10mm?
Yes approx 10 mm. It really does bring the piece to life. Thanks for watching
Hermoso !!!
Muchas gracias
The offset worked well.
Thank you. It made me feel rather dizzy watching the layers spin around! 👍
That is really cool - I'll have to try it. I notice you use Sanding Sealer a lot - i have not used it. What does that do after you sand?
Thanks for watching. Sanding sealer acts like a primer or base coat for the finish. It improves the finish 100% I would strongly recommend! 😎🎄👍
Very clever and very nice....good thinking. I have a question: I noticed you used traditional bowl gouges on the outside of the bowl but went to a scraping tool for the inside.....was there a particular reason? Thanks again; Peter

Interesting project and good looking results. Thanks
The sealer is brilliant. Just one coat and it’s ready to finish. Honestly it’s a great product. Thank you very much for watching 👍
Well done...consider a staging area to show finished turnings,,,no visual distractions ...
Thank you. Yes I’m working on clearing a space in my workshop... I just need to have a good tidy up first 🤣👍
Hmmm…there may be more glue in this bowl than wood! 😜
😂 quite possibly 😂👍
I'm going to have to get the plywood sheet out and see how it's getting on! Excellent job Roy, (I'm going to call you Roy), I wouldn't have used the black myself, I would have used thin and fine sawdust or coffee. But, hey, , personal choices. :-)
Well turned!
Thank you very much Bryan. Sorry to let you know it's Michael, not Roy 😂
@@RDMWoodturning Ok Michael LOL
Обязательно изготовлю такую посудину, просто ради интереса.
Удачи. Спасибо за просмотр 👍😎
Was the plywood hard on your chisel edges ?
Very tough, plus I had used loads of glue! This is where carbide tips come in useful!
although expensive, would a good quality plywood give a better finished
Very possibly. When I make one like this again, I am going to use a new carbide tip to see if that helps too. Thanks for watching.
Is that a bowl gouge or a roughing gouge you started with?
Bowl Gouge. But I should have used carbide from the start! Thanks for watching 👍
