"We all change. When you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives. But that's okay, that's good. You got to keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear… I will always remember when the Doctor was me."
This is both absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful to listen to. Matt Smith's regeneration was wonderful. The fact that his speech also in a way is him, Matt himself, speaking to the viewers is really touching. The moment when he smiles, looks into the camera and says "I will always remember when the Doctor was me." You can really tell he loved his role, and that's why I love him and he's my favourite doctor. :)
There comes a day in #latefandom. Usually w/ a hospital stay, and you end up loving them all. "Oh, that was Celery on a Lapel" phase or, "That was his Magic Tricks and Umbrella" phase or that was his first "bowtie" phase.
LOVED Matt’s Doctor so much. Still go back and watch him now. He was my first and most loved. I will always remember when the Doctor was him. Raggedy Man. Goodnight.
I really love how 11's regeneration was done. It was a great epic ending for the 11th Doctor. Matt was going to stay for 1 more season then he decided to quit. And we got an awesome 12th Doctor but Matt's run was truly amazing and a part of me will always miss him. But all The Doctors are awesome, he is The Doctor after all.
+Panda The first face this face saw, We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives, and that's okay that's good, you gotta keep moving so long as you remember all the people that you use to be I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear I'll always remember when the doctor was me
Matt Smith was my first Doctor, the one who made me discover Doctor Who! I loved 10th But seeing Doctor Who from season 5, years later and the nexts until this episode, I can only recall my first memories with Matt Smith, an amazing Doctor (like all!), Thank you 11th! ❤️
Time of the Doctor gets a real bashing in some corners, but it's one of my all-time favourite stories. And the Trenzalore theme is achingly sad and beautiful.
For real! The arc was brilliant and such a good way to tie up 11s era, only wish they'd had Madam Kovarian appear in a flashback scene to show us why the Kovarian Chapter broke away
this makes me feel like theres sometimes a bit of sparkle in the light to see you through the badest of times and then see the positives of life but this also makes me feel sad for people who have lost family or friends who they loved and treasured for all there life and then be taken from them
1:37-11:It all just disappears, doesn't it? Everything you are, gone in a moment like...Breath...on a mirror. Any moment now he is coming! Clara: Who's coming? 11: The Doctor Clara: You. You are the Doctor 11: Yep, And I always will be. But times change & so must I (A little girl laughs) Amelia! Clara: Who's Amelia? 11: The first face this face saw. (Young Amelia runs around the TARDIS) We all change, when we think about it. We're all different people all through our lives and that's okay, that's good, you've got to keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, Not one day. I swear! I will always remember....when the Doctor was me. (Amy Pond walks down the steps of the TARDIS.) Amy Pond: Raggedy man, Goodnight. (11 takes off his bowtie, looks at it one last time and lets it fall to the ground with a sad smile on his face. He shuts his eyes, letting the regeneration take it's course.) Clara: NO! No! Please don't change. (Quickly regenerates to Peter Capaldi)
You forgot: I will not forget one line of this (looks directly at the camera/audience), Not one day. I swear! I will always remember.... when the Doctor was me.
I feel like the 11th was one of the few doctor's to truly accept regenerating and in the end he went out being the rageddy doctor... crap remembering his last moments is making me tear up..
"Attention. Urgent action required." "Yes, yes, what is it, Handles?" "You must patch the telephone device back through the console unit..." "Handles." "Handles." "Handles..."
I was only 8 when he first joined Doctor who back in 2010 and when I watched it for the first time it didn’t take me very long that he was going to be my favourite doctor he played a massive part of my childhood there’s lots of moments he made me giggle my favourite moment was in the impossible astronaut episode he called river song mrs Robinson that tickled me and when it was his time to regenerate i started crying when he said but times change and so must I that’s when I started sobbing and then when he took his bow tie off and dropped it on the ground I lost it then I cried for 4 hours straight after it finished and I still to this day cry when I watch it I miss him so much if I ever meet him I will thank him for making my childhood memories fun and I will never forget all these amazing memories I will be keeping them forever ❤️❤️❤️🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭
I remember when I was about eleven years old I watched doctor who for the first time and Matt Smith was my first doctor I owe everything to Matt smith if it wasn't for his 11th doctor I wouldn't be a whovian to this day!! Thank you Matt Smith , thank you 11
With Matt's regeneration being the first one that I.. had to go through, I was sobbing that Christmas. I had just been introduced to Doctor Who with the 50th anniversary, and I had grown to love 11, despite how long I had been a fan. It took me days to recover, then Twelve came along and the cycle started all over again... I'm sure the same will happen with Jodie and her predecessor..
Murray Gold just doesn’t get anywhere near the amount of praise he should. He created the right music for the right moment. Show hasn’t been the same since he left 😔
When I decided to start watching the show, I started with Nine. But the first episode I watched live was "The Lodger" so I consider Eleven my Doctor. He is my favorite of the new series (Two is my favorite overall--with Eleven a very close second). I've been rewatching the show. "Cold War" was my episode for tonight. I'm never ready to say goodbye to Eleven again. And his phone call to Clara in "Deep Breath" will kill me, as it always does.
Imagine if Naruto's original series used a song like this in its dramatic moments. Like when Zabuza wanted to die next to Haku, his subordinate before he actually went into the next life. I think moments like that would be sadder if they used music similar to this.
Times change and so must I. We all change when you think about it. We're all different people all though our lives. And that's okay, that's good. You've got to keep moving. So long as you remember all of the people that you used to be.
Matt Smith never had the best run. Nor the best stories. But he always had the most emotional moments within the show. Thats something Stephen did right for him.
I think Doctor Who died for me in this episode. It felt like the end of a golden age. Matt was just my Doctor and Amy was my companion. It just felt like it all ended
When you think about it, we're all different people, all through our lives, but that's okay, you gotta keep moving, so long as you don't forget who you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.

I really need to catch up.

The Long Song instrumental. Copious amounts of tears everytime. GODDAMN.
"Goodbye Clara. Miss ya."
The Eleventh Doctor's true last words.
From our point of view, yeah. But they were't HIS actual last words, but then, you know that! :)
In his timeline he said that before walking up to meet Clara and then regenerating.
LOVED Matt’s Doctor so much. Still go back and watch him now. He was my first and most loved.
I will always remember when the Doctor was him.

Ughhh. I know I am a Clara Fan but when Amelia and Amy show up. I sobbed.
Janine Fields You know that Amelia and Amy are the same character, right?
John Smith ......yes
Same
Raggedy Man...
Goodnight
This so should have been called either "Raggedy Man, Goodnight" or "When the Doctor Was Me".
Before this album came out I put the pieces together myself in Garageband and called it 'When the Doctor Was Me' :D
Tom .M. Riddle Good Job! It so should have been officially called that. Oh well! :D
Totally agree
321jharris no. Sadly, it was first aired when Clara fed the leaf to the sun monster
Not this version, this piece is only from the Time of the Doctor soundtrack

trenzalore will forever be my favourite doctor who soundtrack piece
i will always remember when the Doctor was Matt Smith
I started watching Doctor Who the day The Eleventh Hour premiered. It was so sad to see Matt Smith go.
Such a unique and sad track. Absolutely one of Gold's best.
This one of the best send off Doctor Who music ever!
Murray Gold just doesn’t get anywhere near the amount of praise he should.
He created the right music for the right moment.
Show hasn’t been the same since he left 😔
Love his music so much. Although, Seguen was a very worthy successor imo
It is just achingly beautiful, the Doctor, the man from Gallifrey, the Time Lord.
Despite what people say I actually really liked this episode.
Mate who ever say ToTD was a bad episode is a troll
I like all the doctors, but eleven will always be my favorite. His stories with the ponds and with clara is just so special.
Might just be me, but listening to this song with headphones hits differently. It’s such a beautiful song.
When I decided to start watching the show, I started with Nine. But the first episode I watched live was "The Lodger" so I consider Eleven my Doctor. The greatest song i've ever heard....!
Feels like crying inside
this is not "the long song" this is "infinite potential" wich contains a part of the long song
Funny since the name on the video is the same as the one that the official soundtrack gave it...
Infinite Potential is Long Song, just different instrument I believe, and no vocals.
I'm pretty sure this is neither infinite potential or the long song. Neither of them begin like this.
Unless you mean the second part, which is infact 'Infinite potential', not The long song.
TempusVulpi it has the song Trenzalore before it plays infinite potential
3:15... Man those stupid feelings... I do not like them.... BUT IT'S MY FAVORITE PART OF THE SONG!!!

I love the bit at 3:37
I always sob when listening to this. He was such an inspiring doctor and this piece of music really goes with that. It's so so beautiful.
11 was my introduction to the doctor, so seeing him go really hit hard for me.
I never really became attached to a NuWho doctor until Matt Smith happened. My only wish was that he lasted as long as Baker did. 😭
You can show your bloody enthusiasm by not only quoting a speech or sentence from the goddamn scene.
"Not going to happend"
What the hell, they missed a great oppertunity by not naming it "When the Doctor was me" or something. D:
It might be my favorite Doctor who soundtrack ever. I am crying almost every time I listen to it. See you Raggedy Man💫
Times change and so must I. We all change when you think about it. We're all different people all though our lives. And that's okay, that's good. You've got to keep moving. So long as you remember all of the people that you used to be.
The whole song is great, but man do I always get the feels during the Long Song section (2:55-3:35)

Matt Smith never had the best run. Nor the best stories. But he always had the most emotional moments within the show. Thats something Stephen did right for him.

did anyone else listen to this and try doing Matt Smiths speech?
GNfilmsProductions are you talking about Rings of Akhaten Speech ?
no, im talking about his "we all change" speech.
That was still an awesome speech though
GNfilmsProductions I wrote it all down and did. It brought a few tears to my eyes. A really amazing speech. He did it so well.
I tried, but choked on my tears too much. Couldn't actually do it. Imagine how hard it was for Matt to do it.
Raggedy man, goodnight ♥
If you don't tear up at this, you are not human.
I will always remember when the Doctor was me.
This was in the 50th anniversary the who regrets and the man who forgets

"Who?"
"The Doctor"

It bothers me that they say it's The Long Song... it's not. It's the song "Infinite Potential" from Series Seven... there's something innately depressing about the fact that Eleven's farewell speech was given against a backdrop of infinite potential...
that riff starting at 3:42, is it in any other tracks? I feel like i remember it from elsewhere in the soudtracks, but im not 100% sure
Miriam W you have when the doctor takes off his bow tie when he regenerates
It’s one of Amy’s themes. It’s from the Series 5 soundtrack.
It's a variation of The Sad Man with a Box
Goodnight, my raggedy Doctor.

Matt Smith war wirklich Klasse. Ein wirklich guter "Madman in the Box"
