Doctor Who the shepherds boy , face the raven and the singing towers and Clara’s diner and every other track because Murray gold is toooooooooooooooo good 🐐
_"There’s this emperor, and he asks the shepherd’s boy how many seconds in eternity. And the shepherd’s boy says, ‘There’s this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it, and every hundred years a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have PASSED!’ You may think that’s a hell of a long time.. Personally, I think that’s a hell of a bird."_ - Twelfth Doctor.. The Doctor who has very little time for most humans but still cares and still shows up to help when he can with his kindness, his determination and his unyielding belief in his own goodness!
Stewart Seyfried, He may have technically been in the dial for 4.5 billion years but The Doctor himself didn't experience all 4.5 billion of them - he only remembers the one of the times he re-spawns. (He isn't 4.5 billion years older.) Making a Timelord regenerate is the same as killing them... Twelve himself (like Ten) has a hissy-fit at the end of his life about how he doesn't want to change. He even refers to it as dying: ''Well I suppose one more lifetime wouldn't kill anyone, well except me.'' He killed that man, end of.
David Tennant 12 didn't want to regenerate forever, that's what it was. He didn't know if he was going to get one more life, or 12 or hundreds. And as for the billions of years, it's a bit of a jumble I guess. He's chronologically not 4.5, billion years older, but he experienced the same days over and over, not to mention the earlier times we didn't see, where he didn't get what was happening, or where he painted Clara, or where he left the clues.
What I love about this piece is how it repeats the same melody, but gradually adds a bit more each time. It's perfectly parodying The Doctor's time loop. Just like how the diamond wall gets thinner and thinner, the music gets more and more hopeful, and eventually, victorious.
@@nulnemo4214 Parody does not mean to mock, it also doesn't mean parallel(which is what I think they were looking for), but it doesn't mean to mock. Parody simply means to make a piece of art in a style or genre with a different angle. You wouldn't say injustice or the boys are mocking superhero comics/films, but they are certainly parodying them. Mocking something would be satirical parody.
@@treacle4617 The Boys is mocking superheros as a concept, the comic is extremely explicit about it, the show is scaled back in that regard but still definitively meant in a critical context.
That's a great insight. I never thought about it that way. I thought he was just playing with polyphony, but your comment rings true. Thanks for posting.
Blink wasn't even the best episode anyway. So overrated. Better episodes than it are: Waters of Mars The Doctors Wife Human Nature/Family of Blood Midnight Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead The Eleventh Hour The Pandorica Opens And I could go on.
@@eddiefisher3093 Blink was still very good, not the best, but it's definitely up there. It's overrated, but that doesn't mean it's not an excellent episode by any means
"If you think because she is dead, I am weak, then you understand very little. If you were any part of killing her, and you're not afraid, then you understand nothing at all. So, for your own sake, understand this. I am the Doctor. I'm coming to find you, and I will never, ever stop. " -The Doctor
Imagine all the times some of the Time Lords had to listen to that. Imagine all the times they were reminded of the Doctor repeating the same tasks over and over for billions of years to reach them, and every time he starts off with that same warning: "and I will never, ever stop". Rassilon must have seen it at least a few hundred times out of the several billions, and I can't fathom how he still thought he had any chance against the Doctor.
(With a slight William Hartnell-ish tone into my voice) I will _always_ remember when Murray Gold... was *me.* **wailing Holiday opera chant breaks down from heaven**
When Peter Capaldi started as The Doctor, I was skeptical. I didn't think he'd be as good as some of his predecessors. Time and time again he has proved me wrong, and I will truly miss him. Scenes such as this one prove just what a fantastic actor is, and how fortunate we all are to have had him as The Doctor.
It's a shame he was sometimes given mediocre stories to work off of, but he manages to pour his heart and soul into even the most ludicrous of scripts and make them work. But when Moffat pulls out one of his rare masterpieces, like this episode, Capaldi excels even further, Capaldi is hands down my favourite doctor, although I on average prefer RTD's run.
@@lizardlegend42 It wasn't difficult to imagine !... But I just don't agree with you. If we look at, let's say, the twenty-five best episodes of Doctor Who (and let's also stay with only "NuWho", coz' it's easier to compare with : same period, same format)... Well, you'll have between fifteen and twenty which were writen by Steven Moffat, and surely not "one of his rare masterpieces", as you put it !... Of course, you can think diferently, and it's very normal - specially if you dislike so much Moffat ! But I've noticed that, generally, these people (I mean; Moffat's haters wild bunch !) just hadn't understand a single thing at those episode's stories (and substories) !... Merry coïncidence ? I don't think so ! So I finally went to think that, ouside some who are kinda "allergic" to his style of storytelling (and I may hear why... It can be a bit 'flashy' and, well... 'posed'? - even more his work for "Sherlock" and "Dracula" I think), nearly all the others were just suffering of an incredible... lack of imagination; even more in case of "illogic" things in "our" good old world... They just feel insecure when the UFO leaves the ground, when 2 + 2 aren't 4 anymore... And that's how Moffat writes !! That's the curse of genius : people get envious, or pissed off; and then they turn to become ''haters''... What a pity ! But that's how we are; us, silly human beings; who hate and burn down what we once have loved and raised up to heavens !...
@@lizardlegend42 some of capaldis episodes really were dire, usually in his first series imo but his acting was always top notch and made them worth watching for me
I confess my heart skipped a beat when this track was finaly posted. Also, little fun fact, in Heaven Sent, the skull of the Doctor was modeled after Capaldi's actual skull. The prop makers could've gone with a regular skull, but noooo, they went through the trouble of modeling after Capaldi, probably getting X-rays and measurements of his head to get it right on something no one would notice at first glance. Just the dedication of this show amazes me.
"This place is my own bespoke torture chamber. Intended for me only. And all the skulls, and the water. How could there be other prisoners in my hell? The answer of course is there were never any other prisoners. And the stars, they weren’t in the wrong place. And I haven’t time travelled. I’ve just been here a very, very long time." - The Doctor
It's incredible how Peter Capaldi is such a big fan of Doctor Who and then one day he gets to BE Doctor Who. Not only does he get to portray his childhood hero, but he makes his incarnation of the Doctor one of the best. Peter Capaldi, you are amazing. Thank you for being being such a kind and fantastic Doctor. :D
I agree; I remember watching an interview that dug up an old letter Capaldi had written to praise a Doctor who episode when he was a kid. I love even more that Capaldi got to do his own Tardis reaction and meet the 1st Doctor (though not technically Hartnell). It really felt like Moffat took the extra effort to make sure Capaldi was having fun with the show and it seemed like Capaldi loved every minute of it. This just made 12’s run so much better (I couldn’t even tell if he was acting or honestly fanboying in some of his most fun scenes); overall Capaldi felt like the best actor to play the Doctor to date (to me at least). In comparison Chibnall feels like he’s forcing Jodie (sorry don’t feel like butchering her last name) to act in a way that doesn’t suit her, and she just seems like the experience is a job (not one she hates, but not one she would do for free). I just really wish Capaldi and Moffat stayed on longer (I also kinda want to build a time machine and tell young Capaldi that he’s going to be the Doctor and a damn good one).
@@vullord666 I read somewhere that most "monster" episodes in Series 8 had been based off of his requests to do a Series more like a classic Season. A lot of people seem to dislike them but I absolutely love them. Some people see Capaldi's tenure as the low point of the series (before we got to the truly low point now) but it's my favorite of the Modern era, JUST for Capaldi.
They're not stupid, the Doctor Who official channel know this is gonna get streamed on UA-cam anyway, so they're just like "If people are gonna do it, they may as well do it through us and we'll get the views from it." Brilliant
Heaven Sent is my Desert Island episode. If I could only have one it would be this one - It is perfect on every level: the direction, music, design, acting, writing. It all converges perfectly to make magic. Haunting, melancholic, inspiring, tragic, relentless, tenacious. Genius.
@very_Thomasnt i think this episode is about as close to perfection as possible - but it isn't really a good representation of the show. It's a black sheep episode, standing out if anything. It's missing too much of the camp, a doctor/companion relationship, and adventure to be considered a sum of the show.
@@Milk88488 It's atmosphere is also very unnerving and sombre in the best way possible which is what makes it so good but also quite different. Sadly doctor who isn't really horror focussed
@@Milk88488 while its certainly a black sheep episode, I feel that everything that could have gone right in its development process did, to be fair it is the season finale but still
A few days before a shooter took the lives of several of my colleagues at the Faculty of Arts in Prague, my friend and I watched Heaven Sent just to fall in love with the show all over again. These days, the Shepard's Boy has become the anthem of healing, of coming to terms with the unspeakable, with grief many times harder than diamond. It is a hymn of triumphing by remembering the names and passions of those killed in our classrooms and hallways. Working bit by bit to restore everything our university means to our broken hearts. You may think that's a hell of a lot of work. Personally, I think we just have a hell of a heart.
I’m sorry for your loss my friend. I hope your are dealing with it well. This episode is in my top 3 favourites of all time, and my favourite soundtrack. It helped me during times when I lost others as well.
He deserved a better overarching story for the series he was in... It felt very disjointed at times, compared to how there were things sprinkled among Tennant's and Smith's runs that let their stories flow. If 11's run had that along with the gems of moments he did have, it would've been fantastic.
This was the greatest Doctor Who episode and by far the greatest scene. What amazes me most is that this truly shows us just how incredible the Doctor is. There has never been a puzzle the doctor could not inevitably solve and the confession dial was carefully and meticulously designed to be the ultimate and inescapable puzzle that was to have only two ways to end, confession, or death. The first time the Doctor arrived, his natural instincts and behavior creates the original chain of events that leads him to the wall and he conceives the plan to hit it, allow the creature to kill him, and go back and initiate a loop. Consider that, he figured out that since the rooms reset, something that would prevent him from making any effective changes to the environment, he can do something they never would have expected, sacrifice himself to make everything start over again, and each time slowly dig his way out. Typically the protagonist uses a time loop to try and do something different the next time around but the doctor goes beyond that, that natural sequence of events he created the first time around will always occur every time he arrives and it always ends with him punching and damaging that wall, the one thing that is retained from each loop. The doctor is using the one force that no well crafted puzzle is immune to, time, a single human punch may be no more effective than a drop of water on a stone, but billions of them over billions of years can wear away anything, even if at only one atom at a time, it is inevitable. The Doctor found a way to use time as the ultimate force of destruction and made it so that no matter how long it took, he would be there when it finally worked.
I agree but by far? Personally it is my third favourite but even as a favourite surly blink, empty child, waters of mars, midnight have to come close, and some others
I love this track. So much. Normally, I'm not one to listen to scores from TV shows or movies, but dang if Murray Gold isn't one of the best composers in television. This track is a perfect example of that.
I never thought anyone would replace David Tennant's place in my heart but then Peter Capaldi came. What a phenomenal actor. I wish he got more stories like Heaven Sent. I miss him.
"You might think, that's helluva long time. Personally, I think, that's helluva bird!" What an epic way to say "Nothing is impossible if you just dare!"
I know it's called 'The Shepard's Boy', but deep down in my heart, it will always be 'Breaking the Wall' or as I now call it, 'Doctor, I let you go'...
I think your title is actualy better, "breaking the Wall" packs more depth, since it can mean a literal, metaphorical and even emotional Wall the doctor broke through sheer perseverance and dedication. Oddly enough, I think the titles "heaven Sent" and "hellbent" felt reversed, because man if the Doctor was hellbent when breaking that wall xD
@@brocrew4191 The problem is, enough people need to give a shit to watch it again in the first place. I think too much damage has been done. Someone might pick it up again in another 20 years
Oh there it is, The Silly Old Universe! The more I save it, the more it needs saving, it's a treadmill. Yes, yes I know they'll get it all wrong without me. Well I suppose, one more lifetime wouldn't kill anyone. Well, Except me. You wait a moment, Doctor! Let's get it right. I've got a few things to say to you. Basic stuff first: Never be cruel, Never Be Cowardly & Never ever eat pears! Remember that hate is always foolish and love is always wise! Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind. Oh, and you mustn't tell anyone your name no one would understand it anyway. Except... Except Children. Children can hear it sometimes, if their hearts are in the right place and the stars are too. Children can hear your name. But nobody else, nobody else ever. Laugh hard, run fast, be kind. Doctor, I let you go!
I could hear his voice reading it Capaldi was the best Doctor, the one who showed the most how deep and truthful the character's emotions are, how complex are his actions, how much he really cares. As much as I love his predecessors and Jodie, he will always be my Doctor
One of the greatest moments in the history of this show. Shows the Doctor’s genius, determination, capacity for sacrifice, all in one brilliant sequence score by one of Gold’s best tracks.
I love the tenth Doctor. I really do. He was my favorite until Peter became the Doctor. He won me over completely and now I don't think any other Doctor would be able to take his place in my heart.
yeah, 10th was a more humsn Doctor that didn't refuse to die. 12th Doctor was a Doctor more similar with 1st Doctor. He learn thanks to Clara to be kinder and with Bill we see that. Doctor was happier but when everyone dies (Clara, Bill, Nardole and Missy) he wants to die and refuse to regenerate, we see he's a very old-old man and he's job is over and he deservered rest in peace. He's my favourite Doctor too.
Series 9 made Capaldi my Doctor. The series openers were amazing and just from the trailer I already knew this season would be different. It’s my favorite season of Who by far. The bloody speech in the Zygon Inversion. The entirety of Heaven Sent. Even Hell Bent in my opinion was great. Capaldi just brings it in a way that cannot be brought, he’s an incredible actor, and IMO the best Doctor of all time.
I agree completely. The only two episodes I didn’t like from Series 9 were The Girl Who Died and Sleep No More. All the other episodes I thought were very good though. This and Series 8 are my two favourite seasons.
For nine years, almost, I've been trying to put into words why this theme resonates with me so much; why I listen to it in times of hardship and depression. And I know why now. I think, in a way, we're all breaking our own walls, one little piece at a time. The Veil is the darkness that chases us, to bring us down. Often, we fall. Often we get low. Often that word, depression, it is the Veil. Yet we all get up again, and the more we get up, every time we do, we chip a little bit more off that wall. Our belief grows that we will beat our demons and reach the peace we all want. That, I think, is what this piece represents. We're all breaking our own personal diamond wall, and whilst we may fall, time and time again, eventually we will come out the other side.
There's this soundtrack, that takes five minutes to watch and five minutes to hear. and every day, a google user comes and hears the soundtrack. and when the video will get one billion views.... then, the first second of eternity would have passed! you may think that's one hell lot of views... but i personally think that's one hell of a Soundtrack!
Not even joking, this increases productivity around me like 500%. I just cleaned out an entire room and sorted everything and reshuffled stuff, as well as a cupboard in another room all in a few hours with this on loop
The first second of eternity has passed ! Thank you for uploading it and thank you Murray Gold for composing such a great track ! (Also I miss Breaking the Wall :( )
Oswin Pond all we need now is for them to release the unreleased tracks from Series 1-4 Such as the This is Gallifrey motifs from Utopia, or the Doctor's theme motifs from The Forest of the Dead
I really want them to release the variation of The Doctor Forever that played throughout Series 3 and 4 (Example of when it's played, the Drive Up scene in Gridlock). And also the more sombre variation often played in the scenes with Donna
Peter Capaldi is Coolest Doctor I ever seen ! He is the one who’s made me come back to the show, his speech made me feel better and made me want to stay alive . Made my life more colorful . I will never ever forget Capaldi ❤️❤️
@@cactbro jesus christ I hate that guy, he's the living definition of a troll, every fucking video on heaven sent and you'll find him talking about how it's the worst of the series.
I found something really cool in this theme. I noticed that around the middle of the theme a flute starts playing and it sounds exactly like a BIRD. You can hear some examples from 1:59 to 2:17. Then again from 2:24 to 2:33 (A little bit in the background) and finally "singing" along the theme from 2:34 to 2:54.
The Oboe is my favorite part of the song.. but in fact The Guitar, Voilens, Violas, Cellos, Flute, French Horn, Trumpets, Trombone.. Gives me the most chills ever in this peice of music
A little over a week ago I lost my companion to a fast growing cancer, It feels as if an eternity has passed since then. I will not stop until feline cancer is a thing of the past. No one should have to feel that pain! A last thing but thank you, this song captures the feeling of loss and grief of a loved one perfectly. It’s really helped.
Capaldi's seasons are by far my favourite. Even when-let's be honest - the writing or the narrative wasn't that great, he carried it. They took the doctor finding out who he is-something that usually takes an episode or two-and spread it across 3 seasons. And I loved every minute of it, and of watching him grow. And you could tell Capaldi loved every minute of it. Doctor, I let you go.
I remember watching Heaven sent when it was released. I thought it was good. An introspection of the character that is the doctor without any companions or outside interference to detract from his mind. Now, I realised its one of the most best episode available in the new who era.
I struggled to choose a favorite Doctor for quite a while, but after Season 9 (especially after Heaven Sent), there was no doubt in my mind. Capaldi was a FANTASTIC Doctor, and I'm always gonna look back on his era of the show with fondness. Thank you Peter! 😊
Peter Capaldi is the most underrated doctor. But he is the best to me. His acting is just incredible. He is more mature than previous doctors. And its his matureness that makes his acting better than previous doctors in my personal opinion.
Not just the most underrated but some may say the definitive Doctor of the modern age. Capaldi feels like the culmination of a journey for the character. He was certainly born to play the Doctor. I miss him more than Eccleston but Eccleston is very close to Capaldi in my list.
Anguish is a powerful thing. The power of loss, of grief in utmost total, can push us towards the most unimaginable of things. Much like the Doctor, we must remain strong.
i don’t know if this is a coincidence or not but even if you go all the way back to this leitmotif’s first appearance in day of the doctor, you notice that every episode this melody plays involves a moment of hope for the doctor followed by his death and/or regeneration shortly after.
It’s not for nothing that the episode was recognized as the best in the history of the series, such a soundtrack, Capaldi’s acting, and the script. Deserves nothing but praise
What is so great about this piece is that I represents so well the progression of Capaldi's Doctor, from all the the self doubt at the beginning of his run to surely one of, if not THE best Doctor of them all. Throughout the piece you can really feel that 12 grew, from a man who was desperate to know if he was a "good" person, into the most devoted and determined Doctors to ever. Brilliant composing by Murray Gold.
It's been over 6 years since this episode aired. And it's still one of the best episodes of television I've ever watched. Not a single flaw. And trust me. Right now, I really need the theme of never giving in and pushing forwards even if it hurts. It's what you gotta do.
The love for this track (which is probably my favourite in all of Doctor Who history) is unparalleled. I've never seen so much desire for one piece of score. It was mainly the reason I, and a lot of other people, wanted the whole series 9 soundtrack to be released in the first place, and they even uploaded it right here in it's purest form on the main Doctor Who channel which I don't think I've ever seen (very rare at the least). I'm sure the love for this track was why Gold decided to use it for Capaldi's regeneration, and I feel that it just came to be the piece that sums up Capaldi's tenure as a whole.
For all the crap Moffat could give us, this episode showed he truly understands what is Doctor Who. Think about it. It works wonders with Capaldi's Doctor and the themes of season 9. But if you think about it, every single regeneration of the Doctor would have done very exactly that. Not all as angrily, not all with exactly the same words, but breaking through that wall is definitely a very Doctor-y thing to do.
Moffat had the talent of making the worst possible episode, then directly after making a masterpiece... but his worst is pure dedication and greatness compared with Chibnall's best.
@@melonlordx I stopped watching Torchwood for the sake of my mental development when I saw a cyberwoman in a cybernetic bikini, so I dunno much about that, meanwhile Moffat was mainly good, at least in main Doctor Who, especially in comparison to Turner or Chibnall.
Moffat is definitely not the best show runner. Not the worst, that's by know pretty obvious, but he always lacked that direction that the earlier seasons had. But what he was was a fantastic episode writer. Throw him in a season to write one and it was likely to be one of the best. Blink and This one are two of the best examples.
IT'S A MIRACLE! After 854 days of waiting in the span of 2 years and 4 months, the soundtrack is FINALLY here!! It's just so amazing, I love it so much!! The Shepherd's Boy is just pure GOLD from Gold (PUN 100% INTENDED) Thank you for releasing this incredible music! Personally I think that's one HELL of a soundtrack 😎💿👍
First time what hit me was the tension and the atmosphere, then on second viewing the swelling sense of hopelessness that just keeps building and building. i think no episode has ever better captured his character, a man who's not a hero because he's always perfect or fearless, but because he never ever gives in.
This track invokes a person who, against their will, slowly adjusts to a home not their own. A home that is, in reality, a never-ending prison. A prison that doesn't end with death. But said person isn't afraid to die. He's a lunatic willing to spend an eternity bashing a wall, one moment at a time. ... You know, I think it's a twisted melodic metaphor for earth, and his life in general. You could argue that his enemies are the wall, but honestly humanity and himself are walls as well. It gives the feeling that he's wanting everything he ever did to have a purpose, no matter how small, to create a massive impact over time. Doctor Who is a tragedy about a man (or woman now) who bashes a wall in desperate to make progress on it, only to die again and again. But the wall is endless, as is (seemingly) the universe itself. Is he making progress? Is he making a difference? Everyone wants to tell him that he does, but he listens to no one, because he realizes fate won't allow him to stop chiselling at the wall. He doesn't stop to make pleasantries with people, he just pauses. Just for a moment, to breathe. He's at home near the wall, the wall he's desperate to break through.
From my point of view, the Twelfth Doctor is the Shepherd's Boy and fits the story well. The Twelfth Doctor is and will always be my favorite Doctor, they really brought out the alien expectation of the Doctor in him, he never understood Human emotions and behavior and he was also really passive-aggressive on the whole Time War subject. Something the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctor has. Something Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor needs, it feels like it's just been forgotten, but since it happened. The Doctor cannot forget the horrors of the Time War and it had a major impact on the Doctor since it happened.
"There’s this emperor, and he asks the shepherd’s boy 'how many seconds in eternity?'. And the shepherd’s boy says, ‘There’s this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it, and every hundred years a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed.’ You may think that’s a hell of a long time. Personally, I think that’s a hell of a bird."
Finished Series 10 4 days ago... yeah, better late than never... It wasn't good for my mental health... I'll miss him so much. I've never thought I'll say, someone can be better than Tennant, but Capaldi did it. I loved 10th, but 12th... wow... He was incredible.
Agreed. I quickly grew fond of his snarky, kind of grumpy way, but the way Capaldi packed so much raw emotion and how his monologues felt compelling, I would be lying if I didn't open the waterworks during his final episode.
How fitting is it that this song is played both when the doctor is in grief and doing all of this for Clara And when he is accepting it all and letting the Doctor go
I listen to this everyday. My wife ran away taking my money and most importantly my kid . I feel lonely dejected guilty fearfull hopeless . But this music gives me hope . It allows me to focus on day work and pass one day to another for that is all i can do without giving up . Perhaps after many years / decades / lives i will be rid of my problems . You are one hell of a bird doctor . Thanks for such a sad and hopeful soundtrack 🙏
Thank u Moffat, Capaldi and of course to Murray gold for this story. I keep coming back to this tale and it’s come to mean a lot to me in some pretty dark times.
I don't know if it's only me, but the time I spent watching Twelve passed by so fast. While i was watching the show it felt like Capaldi would stay and play the Doctor forever, i never realized how much i would have missed him until I heard this song and look speechless Peter saying goodbye... Man I miss you already, I'll never forget you Doctor... my Doctor...
Ever since I was a kid this show was always numbers one in my heart this brings me tears of joy listening to this I can picture every word he says in this episode by the music
It's a crime that not one aspect of this amazing piece of art has even been nominated much less awarded for its excellence. There's simply no excuse for this amazing work being ignored. Shame on all involved!
In past days I lost few of my personal battles and still... This music... It gives me hope. Such beatiful episode, story and music. Maybe I lost one or teo battles but I still have to go on and try it again and again like Doctor. Maybe one day even I will succeed and become one hell of a bird myself!

The Doctor who also literally shoots and kills a person (The General) in cold blood - very kind...

What I love about this piece is how it repeats the same melody, but gradually adds a bit more each time. It's perfectly parodying The Doctor's time loop. Just like how the diamond wall gets thinner and thinner, the music gets more and more hopeful, and eventually, victorious.
Dang. I never really thought of it like that, but you're so right!
Parodying as in mocking?... That's not exactly the term I would use. Following it, yes. Emphasizing it, yes again. But parodying it?...😳 Nope.

Blink is the best Doctor Who episode. You can't get any bet-
*Heaven Sent* - Allow me to introduce myself.
Blink wasn't even the best episode anyway. So overrated. Better episodes than it are:

"
-The Doctor
Imagine all the times some of the Time Lords had to listen to that. Imagine all the times they were reminded of the Doctor repeating the same tasks over and over for billions of years to reach them, and every time he starts off with that same warning: "and I will never, ever stop".

I think they developed the skull from the casting they on did Capaldi for Doctorn’s ghost in ”Under the Lake/Before the flood” It is Capaldi’s visage.

@very_Thomasnt i think this episode is about as close to perfection as possible - but it isn't really a good representation of the show. It's a black sheep episode, standing out if anything. It's missing too much of the camp, a doctor/companion relationship, and adventure to be considered a sum of the show.

He deserved a better overarching story for the series he was in... It felt very disjointed at times, compared to how there were things sprinkled among Tennant's and Smith's runs that let their stories flow. If 11's run had that along with the gems of moments he did have, it would've been fantastic.

Peter shoulda won an Emmy for Heaven Sent!!!!

Man, Thank you for sharing. Very inspirational.

When I say he is the best doctor of all time, people call me a mad man.

This music has helped me to endure a difficult time. It makes you get up again and keep going.
this may be a song of hope but also of sadness, it makes me emotional every time I hear this
What is so great about this piece is that I represents so well the progression of Capaldi's Doctor, from all the the self doubt at the beginning of his run to surely one of, if not THE best Doctor of them all.
@@SStupendous luv Moffat and hate s11 and 12 but what abt torchwood s2..?
@@melonlordx I stopped watching Torchwood for the sake of my mental development when I saw a cyberwoman in a cybernetic bikini, so I dunno much about that, meanwhile Moffat was mainly good, at least in main Doctor Who, especially in comparison to Turner or Chibnall.
@@SStupendous yhh I never said s1 chibnall was gd 💀
Moffat is definitely not the best show runner. Not the worst, that's by know pretty obvious, but he always lacked that direction that the earlier seasons had. But what he was was a fantastic episode writer. Throw him in a season to write one and it was likely to be one of the best. Blink and This one are two of the best examples.
In my opinion, simply the best episode of Doctor Who, with the best Doctor and the best soundtrack.
Finally! Thank you so much for putting this up! 😂
Elizabeth kurnia I know! It's only been just under two and a half years! :D
IT'S A MIRACLE! After 854 days of waiting in the span of 2 years and 4 months, the soundtrack is FINALLY here!! It's just so amazing, I love it so much!! The Shepherd's Boy is just pure GOLD from Gold (PUN 100% INTENDED)
Thank you for releasing this
incredible music! Personally I think that's one HELL of a soundtrack 😎💿👍
Samuel Darlington that pun is gold.
Cole Very happy to hear. I had to use it just for the release day :)
And one HELL of a Doctor.
First time what hit me was the tension and the atmosphere, then on second viewing the swelling sense of hopelessness that just keeps building and building. i think no episode has ever better captured his character, a man who's not a hero because he's always perfect or fearless, but because he never ever gives in.
Oh thank you lord
Torchwood Boy Hey Mr TorchWood Boy, I love your Reactions :D keep up the good work
Hey Torchwood Boy, big fan of the show! Cheers!
Torchwood Boy! 👍
And finally does...to arrive... home...
I’ve been listening to this since midnight! I love Face The Raven 😍 and of course The Shepherd’s Boy!
Alternate Title: The Best Montage In The History Of Ever
My favourite episode... to this day... the best of the Doctor and the best soundtrack to go with it... I miss when who was like this.
I’ll miss Capaldi so much :(
Finished Series 10 4 days ago... yeah, better late than never...
When the world needed him most he returned. Welcome back Murray Gold!🎉
How fitting is it that this song is played both when the doctor is in grief and doing all of this for Clara
And when he is accepting it all and letting the Doctor go
The whole song is a thing of beauty but for me those last 30 seconds when the horns kick in, that's art, man. Stunning stuff.
There's something about this whole scene and the track used for it that makes it one of the best in all of television
The best soundtrack and episode by far. The repetition and momentum builds in the piece to mirror the Doctor's predicament. The genius of Murray Gold.
heaven sent is the best episode of tv ever. beautiful.
I just watched this for the first time and haven’t closed my jaw for 5 hours
Thank u Moffat, Capaldi and of course to Murray gold for this story. I keep coming back to this tale and it’s come to mean a lot to me in some pretty dark times.
I don't know if it's only me, but the time I spent watching Twelve passed by so fast. While i was watching the show it felt like Capaldi would stay and play the Doctor forever, i never realized how much i would have missed him until I heard this song and look speechless Peter saying goodbye... Man I miss you already, I'll never forget you Doctor... my Doctor...
If it were up to Capaldi, he would have stayed a fourth year....Chris C wanted to start totally over with the show...
Underrated is not a strong enough word for how beautiful Heaven Sent was. I do appreciate it if that matters
One of the best Episodes, and the soundtrack is so stunning, amazing, it tells the story itself. Perfect series
I mean...
The performance our beloved Peter gave..
He deserves recognitions
And fame
In past days I lost few of my personal battles and still... This music... It gives me hope. Such beatiful episode, story and music. Maybe I lost one or teo battles but I still have to go on and try it again and again like Doctor. Maybe one day even I will succeed and become one hell of a bird myself!
This made Twelve’s send off epic
Bringing this track back for Peter Capaldi and Murray Gold's final scene was absolutely brilliant.
