I think it only makes sense if knowing about Caroline is what made the turret stop shooting, but the turret just says what it knows and it wasn't even the first thing the turret said. It just doesn't work.
Fun fact: The Prima Donna Turret is not only on the credits. In test chamber 16, if you manage to blow up the turrent thats in the vents and crawl through it. You'll see him, getting singed to by 4 turrets.
I absolutely bloody loved those things. I never got to connect with the companion cube because my brother completed all the levels with it even after i asked him not to, but these things are absolutely adorable.
and after that seeing a lot of non-deffective turrets goes to crusher... i think its interesting psycological moment, cause in first walkthrough i did ssame thing. oh, and, if i correctly remember, deffedctive ones will explode after some time in this map.

I just had a thought. What if turrets had the souls of failed test subjects put inside. Maybe that's why they say "No hard feelings" and "I don't blame you" along with "I don"t hate you" as well as their screams of pain or panic when grabbed and destroyed.
No. The souls are put in personality cores and maybe even companion cubes. However, it's possible that turrets had to capacity to hold souls too, as seen with Wilson from EZ2.

Prima Donna Turret? I recognize it more as the *Wife* Turret. And I don't know why you've skipped two other turrets in Portal 2, although I can make an educated guess about one of them. The first missed one being the "backwards" turret, which despite aiming at the player, shoots in the opposite direction. The second one being the "faulty" turret, which acts exactly like the default/clean turret, just with a different skin (as in more unfinished/broken). That one I may understand why it was skipped.

I think the moving mechanism for that would be too big, considering the turrets are full of bullets, however the frankenturrets have space for that.
Unless Wheatley just modified them so that they can move.
