      Read a mainstream piece that criticizes this session. Honestly made me sick. They claimed his second attempt was much better. Nah, gimmie the heartfelt stuff everytime. Keep your overproduced , for the masses bullshit. It means far less. Even at a glance.

    Back in the day, if I didn't go to school, my dad told me then, your coming to work then, I grew up in Cypress Hills, cutting post, learned how to drive a 66 3 speed chev manual transmission and everyday after work we would stop at the lil lake in the middle of Cypress Hills and we would have fun, god I miss those days, I hardly ever went to school, I never took any books home, I learned everything from my dad, he was my step dad but he's the only dad I knew, I started working 5 years old, everytime we had tests and quizzes at school I always passed, my dad taught me as I worked, I'm so glad I learned from him and all my step brothers and step sister's. The memories are always fresh in my mind, I'm so blessed to have had all the human beings in my life and for air that we breathed and all shared, I'll see you all again dad and brothers and sisters, I know your always around me, I catch a glimpse out of the corner of my eye, I know your all there guiding me to this day, I know your all out there on some other world waiting to come get us when it's our time to leave here, I'm 54 now and it feels like I'm here for another 100 years but that's ok, I know your all out there, I'll see you all again, I can't wait but we all have to run our time here first, I can't wait to start living again, all of us together again. I wish that everyone knew what we all know, the end here is all that matters now, so to all you other human beings here I'll tell you, you have everything to live for here for now but life here has to run its course then the others that are not here are waiting to come get us, so have that to look forward to when you are not feeling yourself or your down, life goes on elsewhere just let your life run its course here, you will understand when you're drawing your last breath, believe in that, believe in god. 5:51

    I'll tell you, driving through the desert with no one around and during this winter storm that hit near here, it was eerie listening to this music. It doesn't always snow in the desert but when it does, it snows a lot. I remember sitting outside too, out in the middle of nowhere really and listening to his music. You get transported to another time, a more simple time. I started thinking of the railroads, the trains that no longer ran, all the folk that came before me on the ground I stood and traveled on. Good music paints the best pictures ever. But it also complements your life and travels, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Colter's music is just that.

    This is my favorite Colter Wall song so far. It has the lyrical greatness of Sting's "I hung my head" but because of his deep register reminds me of how Johnny Cash covered it. Regardless, truly a great song. No fat on it, from wire to wire, an original and very well done story song.

    Original 16 hit the jackpot with Coulter. He is by far the best that’s played at the brewery. No disrespect to the others, of course!

    I can not explain how much I respect this young man amazing talent. But my true respect comes from not being sucked into the music industry that would have him being the next country sensation who sings about being a farm hand while there boots cost 3 grand. It's amazing story telling about things that matter not who you are endorsed by and if there's a controversial figure on your beer can

    This story about Henry sounds like a western, and Colter sings the whole movie to you in five minutes.

    Damn, that guy's got me sitting here for over an hour... I was actually trying to "recover" from Sierra Ferrel, when I kept stumbling over his name in the comments.
    I get it, now.
    Low and behold, I need booze ...

      Seriously this single song has a better plot and storyline than most modern day movies/television. The way he sings the intro, but you don't know the context, then circles back around to it at the end and you realize why that line is being sung...it gives me chills. At first you hear the refrain on a surface level. At the end the full weight of why those lines are being sung hits you and it has so much impact. I could write a whole paper on this song it's so incredibly good.

    “Henry sat there laughing up his blood” I love that line. It says a lot. He knew his life would would end with hot lead tearing through his body. I imagine a feeling of relief in his death, and that line perfectly portrays his content, anger, and relief in his death. Such a beautiful line

      for what it's worth, the word "laughing" can be used by some folks as another word for coughing. not sure which way Colter meant it though

    • @ViciousTuna2012
      @ViciousTuna2012 Рік тому

      I'm fairly certain he meant literally laughing. If I had to envision it that laughing would involve coughing too. It paints a sardonically comedic image. (comedy in the tragic sense. Think Greek) @@WOODALLY
