Just found you recently and came across this video. I never had any concerns about the adjustment using the y-strap. I can see how intense it is from the adjusters and the adjustees, and it looks amazing. I love the smiles that appear on each patients face. I was curious as to how effective it was and if how often it would be recommended to have done. This was a great video and I thank you and all like you who do your best to service the patients and keep us all feeling great.
You have great questions. The Y-Strap is a great adjusting tool and it’s very effective for people who need it. It’s hard to tell you how often you’d need though it since everyone is different. After you have an exam and your first adjustment, you’d have a better idea of the frequency of treatment that’s best for you. I’m glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
Hi Dr.Shelly I have watched many of your videos, I think they are educational and a little entertaining. I just saw your video about what UA-cam was doing I see no problem with the way you dress while doing your sessions, I think you are a very good doctor and shame on UA-cam for hating on you just because you are beautiful as well keep up the good work younglady Your Awesome.
In electrical, sometimes you find a new tool to use and think, "Oh my god, this is so much easier to use and more effective. Why was I not using this before?!" Seems to be the same for chiropractic too.
The Y-Strap adjustment is a long-axis distraction adjustment while the other adjustment I perform afterwards is a lateral and rotary type adjustment. In other words, by performing both types of adjustments, each vertebral segment is adjusted in all planes. This is the most effective way to ensure proper vertebral motion.
Is this safe for someone who has Cerebral Palsy with low back spasms? I had a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy almost 30 years ago. Lots of scar tissue in lower back.
Hi! Thanks for your question. It is important that patients get a thorough exam before any type of adjustment. Most people are candidates for the Y-Strap adjustment, but not everyone.
I don't quite understand your question. Are you asking if the patient gets taller after this adjustment? If so, the answer is yes, but over time with consistent treatment. Adjustments like this allow the vertebral discs to stay hydrated which prevents age related disc degeneration and height. It also allows for proper spinal movement and biomechanics which improves posture.
If by lessen the curve, you mean it would decrease the normal lordosis of your spine, the answer is no. This adjustment actually improves the normal range of motion of the vertebral joints in your neck, which can help improve posture and ultimately improve your curvature. Tight muscles and poor posture are normally the cause of a straight neck aka military neck. Since the YStrap adjustment helps to relax tight cervical muscles, it can help prevent the loss of cervical curvature.
I've had a towel pull on my neck by a chiropractor and now my neck hurts but it felt good at the time. Not sure if this is the reason but I've never had neck pain before.
Sometimes patients are sore after their first adjustment. That’s normal. Just like you may be sore after your first time working out or doing a new physical activity. It normally only lasts for a day or 2. I would contact the chiropractor who adjusted you and let them know you’re having some pain. They’ll be able to help you.☺️
The Y strap is trash it doesnt do anything the only thing it can do is hurt you and paralyze you watch some surgeons that react to these y strap adjustment i saw one adjustment thay went wrong and the guy got paralysed its just that people think that it does good even tho it doesmt the chiro tells them that it will adjust their neck and relieve their pain but its the opposite the people just experience placebo effect
Plus most of the chiropractors arent doctors they are just bussinessman making money of people thinking that cracking their neck will help the nech pain it doesnt but cracking your bones and neck can still help you it has some good relieving effects but sometimes the chiro just takes it too far and risks your health
Funny how particular people will bash Chiropractors and yet medical error is the 3rd leading cause of death - adverse drug reactions are another leading cause of death... 🤔
You would have to be seen by a chiropractor to determine the best treatment for you. Mild herniations usually benefit from the YStrap adjustment, but each case is different and you'd need an exam to know for sure.
No, I don’t. I suggest calling around to different chiropractic offices and asking if they use the Y-Strap. Or you can check on the Y-Strap website. They have a directory of practitioners who have purchased a Y-Strap.
Traction adjustments (the Y Strap) can be very beneficial for those with irregular spinal curvatures. The "side effects" are not different for those with mild scoliosis. Soreness is possible in all patients who receive this treatment, however it is not very common (in my experience.)
Why am i addicted to getting a Y Strap Adjustment? like i’m addicted to it. even watching people get Y Strap Adjustment makes me feel that amazing feeling u get a after the adjustment
No, I haven’t, but it likely improves slightly immediately after treatment due to improved posture. Overtime, the benefits to height are due to increased hydration of the intervertebral discs.
Dr. Shelly can you please comment on what you think happened to this guy (ua-cam.com/video/FxZfqf6o8g0/v-deo.html)? He seems to have stopped breathing and started convulsing. Do you think he was paralyzed? I know he should have pulled and released the neck part instead of having it stationary.
First of all, that is NOT the proper way to perform the YStrap adjustment. I never have adjusted someone the way that man was adjusted in that video and it’s disturbing to me that the title of that video was referring to the Y-Strap.
Are there any conditions that would make this technique contraindicated? I am suffering from Facet joint arthritis pretty much from my sacrum all the way to my neck. I also have terrible TMJD and my neck lacks curvature. I always feel like my atlas and axis are so messed up. Ugggh I am so tired of all this pain. I watch this adjustment and I can just feel my vertebrae begging for it! 😰😰
Yes, there are some conditions that are contraindicated for treatment like this. You would have to be examined by a chiropractor before any adjustment, but this type of adjustment is normally ok for patients with facet arthritis.
Personally I don’t know anyone who has died from the Y-Strap adjustment. If you have Instagram, watch this and read the comments… instagram.com/reel/Cfj4VADOQuv/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

What is the best adjustment for sciatica?
In electrical, sometimes you find a new tool to use and think, "Oh my god, this is so much easier to use and more effective. Why was I not using this before?!" Seems to be the same for chiropractic too.
Yep!

That made me happy! Thanks for your comment!

Those eyes and that smile!!! 🤩
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I've been loving all of your videos lately. Looking forward to more!

How come you crack the neck after you use the y strap? Have you ever adjusted a person with autism
The Y-Strap adjustment is a long-axis distraction adjustment while the other adjustment I perform afterwards is a lateral and rotary type adjustment. Is it possible doing Y Strap could cause herniated disc since a person is laying down and neck is pulled and disc could come out a little?
All true. This is by far my favorite adjustment! ❤
Mine too!

Thanks for your question. You would have to see a chiropractor for an exam before determining if you're a candidate for this type of treatment.
How effective is it for a scoliosis in adults?
Hi Dr., Do you recommend every patient get this adjustment?
Hi! Thanks for your question. It is important that patients get a thorough exam before any type of adjustment. Most people are candidates for the Y-Strap adjustment, but not everyone.
Can this help with sciatic issues?
Yes, I have had patients who had sciatic relief with this type of adjustment along with other chiropractic adjustment techniques.
If You use y strap, the pacient is taller after? How much?

Great video and explanation! I was just wondering if this adjustment would lessen the curve in your neck since it is an intense pull?
If by lessen the curve, you mean it would decrease the normal lordosis of your spine, the answer is no. Tight muscles and poor posture are normally the cause of a straight neck aka military neck. Would the Y strap be a good thing if there is arthritis at the base of the neck?
Possibly, yes. But we would need to do an exam first to make sure the Y-Strap adjustment is right for you.

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! ☺️

Exactly!
You can be against all of those things at the same time
If you have back pain, try the Mackenzie method
Interesting about the medical insurance
😉
I have herniated discs. Would the y strap be detrimental or enhancing?
You would have to be seen by a chiropractor to determine the best treatment for you. Mild herniations usually benefit from the YStrap adjustment, but each case is different and you'd need an exam to know for sure.
Hi Do you know a place in NJ where I can get the y-strap done?
No, I don’t. I suggest calling around to different chiropractic offices and asking if they use the Y-Strap. Or you can check on the Y-Strap website. They have a directory of practitioners who have purchased a Y-Strap.
I love the strap so amazing 🤩
Are there side effects if a pt has very mild scoliosis?
Traction adjustments (the Y Strap) can be very beneficial for those with irregular spinal curvatures. The "side effects" are not different for those with mild scoliosis. Soreness is possible in all patients who receive this treatment, however it is not very common (in my experience.)
@@DrShellySeidenberg I see what you did there :) ! Appreciate your quick response. It was nice to see you both helping each other out.
So you went from team ring dinger to team y strap?
Not sure what you mean?
@@DrShellySeidenberg There's another popular UA-cam chiropractor who uses a towel, and calls it a "ring-dinger" adjustment.
@@airlinepilotonewheelguy2800 yes, I’m familiar with him. I’ve just always been a Y-Strap fan!

I agree! The Y-Strap adjustment is amazing!
Why am i addicted to getting a Y Strap Adjustment? like i’m addicted to it. even watching people get Y Strap Adjustment makes me feel that amazing feeling u get a after the adjustment
At least you're "addicted" to something that is healthy for you! I have a few Y-Strap videos on my channel, so be sure to check those out too.😉
Have you measured anyone's height before and after?
No, I haven’t, but it likely improves slightly immediately after treatment due to improved posture. Overtime, the benefits to height are due to increased hydration of the intervertebral discs.
I volunteer! I need a decompression and Ill let you measure me before and after! Lol.
Is it expensive?
The fee for this type of adjustment varies between chiropractors. However, it's not more expensive than neglecting your health. ;)
Do you need a bench in order to use the y strap? Or can you put the patient on the floor ?
I would only do that adjustment on a chiropractic table, not the floor.
would this be good for someone with L6 S1 fusion?
Fusions cannot be adjusted, since they are fused together. However, your cervical and thoracic spinal areas can still be adjusted.
