Band Maid DESERVES to be on the big stage. They have come a long way in 10 years and this song proves it. Their sound in epic. When they play in Atlanta and then Nashville, there should be record label execs attending those concerts to see how talented Band Maid is. Screw the language barrier, these women are RockStars!!!

Atlanta show was nothing less than AMAZING!!!!
Some songs are churned out by a factory, others are written by an amateur with a passion but lack of technical skill, yet others are engineered by a master technician with nothing to say. And some songs are crafted to perfection by a master with a passion and something to say, insane amounts of work and care going into every single detail having its place.
Most bands produce a mix of these. What sets BAND-MAID apart is that the vast majority of their music falls into the last category.
Nothing is left to chance, no aspect of the song neglected. True artists.
Still my absolute favorite song without a doubt from Band-Maid. I love every song, but this is IMO their masterpiece. So many different riffs, the lyrics are heartbreaking and it has such a cool way of changing tempo etc., i adore this song... LOVE to see your reaction to it :) Greetings from Germany

I was at this show 1/9. The Tokyo Garden Theater sound was perfect to my non-professional ears. I was in the first balcony level just right of center balcony. When this song started both fists went up in the air and I screamed so loud. It’s one of my favorites. That night was amazing.

@philip: if you want to see a cool show at Tokyo Garden Theater, Nemophila will be performing there this July. I think you can get tickets. I can’t make it to that one, and I’m regretting not being able to, but I promise that will be a show for the memories.
When it comes to melodic hard rock, this group is just on a whole other level.
I almost positive that the reason Kanami's guitar is louder this show is because so many people complained about her guitar being so quiet in past shows. And I'm pretty sure it's because they read comments on their videos and get feedback from their fans.
@@philipcable437 everyone complained her solos were too short, so she wrote from now on. (Probably) And when unleash came out and misa done away with her bangs and everyone complained then shortly after right back to the bangs and still rockin haha. They know what the fans want.
I think you're the one responsible for getting me into Band Maid. So for that I owe you big time.
There is a duet between Saiki and Kanami for this song and Anemone that is accoustic and absolutely heart melting. It is a master piece and you get to hear how beautiful Kanami can harmonize with Saiki.

I think one of my favorite parts about this video is they left blemishes in. I like that my heroes are just human beings who work their ass off to be really good, and not infallible demi-gods.
Finally Puzzle is up on their channel, still my fave track from them. The studio coast version is even better but more than happy with this one. There is an Acoustic version from the 2018 Zepp Tokyo concert with just Saiki and Kanami that is well worth a listen too if you can find it. Great reaction too.
I don't think it's your new headphones. It's the board mix. This mix has Miku and Kanami's guitars far more separate than I've ever heard before, and I really enjoy hearing each part so distinctly. Kudos to whoever was running the board and to the mixer.
Each instrument including the vocals is playing the puzzle pieces. I like the calculated chaos.
For quite a few of us, 'Puzzle' is the favorite song from our beloved Maids, and I can absolutely understand why. It's an assault on the auditory sense in the most positive way, and it's always just pure fun to listen to. 🔥🤘🏻

The Maids have hinted that they want to do more tour dates in the US in August, but they haven't announced any yet for August, so you might get lucky. You are probably going to get hit with dozens of requests for the acoustic version of "Puzzle" with only Kanami and Saiki. The lyrics are the same in both versions, but they seem to have a completely different meaning with the acoustic version. As for the question of which band member I'd like to take music lessons with I would probably pick all of them.
I wish I could've been there watching and being awestruck by their Beauty and Amazing Musicianship.

I love it when BAND-MAID is "almost too much", to the point where anytime they're not it feels like not enough.

Thanks, Tony. Band-Maid mixes have been all over the place throughout their career--good, bad, and ugly. This one's pretty decent, although there are better ones. One thing that always shines through is the great songwriting and performance! Puzzle is top-tier Band-Maid!
The interplay of Saiki and Miku on vocals, with Kanami chiming in on guitar is epic. Miku has also become a very legit guitarist in the past few years...not bad when you remember she couldn't even hold a guitar properly when BAND-MAID formed.
There's a little seven-note unison in Kanami's solo (at the 3:00 mark in the original video) that just hits so hard.

@@jkkansasband7056 Maybe so, or the general mix is more separated. It's there in the earlier versions but much more obvious in this one. I hadn't noticed it until I went back and listened for it. There is _so much stuff_ inside their songs!
@@surfingasongwave Yeah, I had to go back also. It is there just not as prominent. You can almost always find something you've missed or glanced over from the previous 500 times you listened to a song. They're Awesome.
Just listened to this three times in a row and finally keyed in on Akane: man, it's a clinic on all the possibilities for playing rock and roll.

Reactors have been complaining about Kanami’s guitar being burried in the mix and not loud enough in the past. I think the new mix levels, noticeable on everything since the Eggman online concert have changed to address that. Personally I could not be happier with it.

I watched the live stream of the TGT concert. My sense is that for this video they mixed DI from the board with some live mics for ambient sound, and then they compressed the result in the same way that curses the UNSEEN WORLD album. I’m so happy to have this available, but maybe the Studio Coast recording sound better.

first heard "Puzzle" in 2017. Loved it from the start. Difference in this "updated" version. Mainly Miku's guitar, much more promenade. She's come along way with her guitar. Still can't figure out when Saiki is breathing in parts of the song.

This is a great song, though I have to say the live acoustic version will always be my favorite.

They performed this in their biggest arena to date (by far). Maybe that affected the soundscape?
This mix DOES have Kanami's channel more balanced with the others; previously it has been usually too low in concert recordings.

For whatever reason Miku puts Saiki (and herself) in some pretty heart rending emotional places with her lyrics.
Saiki has said that she doesn't just want to sing the notes and the words she wants us to believe it.
On some occasions she has had to fight back her tears.
A lot of the fans sight this song (the live acoustic with Kanami on backing vocal and guitar) as their favourite.

Great reaction as usual Tony. Kanami's mix did seem to be a bit loud and dare I say slightly distracting with that Angus Young sounding Riff playing over the vocals. I think it should have been mixed down a bit and Miku brought up a little. Still a banger of a song 🔥

It actually came out in 2016 if I'm not wrong. Still one of fan favourites.
Who would I want to take lessons with? Man that's hard to pick, but I would choose Kanami, as she has Miku to show her lesson prowess, maybe I could play slightly after a million lessons!

So many thoughts on this. Miku, she has taken her guitar AND vocals to a new level, good on her. Kanami, she plays a magical solo throughout the whole song. How does she do that? Saiki, wow, just wow. She hits every note perfectly. Akane, so consistent, perfect actually. She is so good. And finally, Misa Misa Misa, if you just listen to her part, you realize this song would not be what it is without her carrying the whole bottom of it all, a bass solo on her own for the entire song. I'm seeing them in Houston a week from now, man oh man, I can't wait!

Is it just me or is Miku playing a little bit more complex part in this song than she has previously live?

It's not your headset, its the mix on the video. They seemed to have pushed the treble a little higher on this mix this time. Personally I think MISA is a bit buried this time, but that's me. ;)
I firmly believe the title of this song, Puzzle, is because of how many different instrumental pieces have to fit together in order to complete the sonic picture. This is, and always will be, one of my top 10 if not top 5 songs from Band-Maid.
I'm no sound engineer, but couldn't you have just turned down the volume a smidge, or is that oversimplifying things?

For my taste MISA is a little bit low in the mix than the other inatruments, and as a bassist I need more bass 🥺
It isn't your headphones, it IS too effing LOUD, in fact to the point of being distorted. The audio on the official videos of the Tokyo Garden Theatre concert (which are from the BRD/DVD) is just the stereo from the live-stream of the concert back in January, which has had a shed-load of compression, hard-limiting and possibly treble boost (crudely) applied. If you look around there's a recording of the entire live-stream and its _unmolested_ audio (even as 128kbps aac) is so much better - none of that clipping-distortion on the vocals and a lot of the guitars. I've compared them in an editor - the bluray looks like a solid block with occasional gaps, the meters stay pinned between *-2dB and 0dB* almost constantly. Frankly I was gutted when I first listened to the bluray a few days ago because I was hoping that like many concert recordings (intended for home theatre systems) it had escaped the clutches of a "mastering engineer".

@@DrumRollTonyReacts You're very welcome, and thanks for your rhythm breakdowns - I'm not a musician so they give me a lot of insight. Anyhoo, Band-maid were obviously hit badly by the lockdowns, like most musicians they need to play to make a living, and on top of that they were just breaking through overseas (that US tour last year would probably have happened in 2020) . Of all the live recordings they've released this latest seem like a rush job - the concert was a live-streamed on a subscription service and I don't think it was intended for release on disc - it sounds like they didn't even capture a multi-track (the audio on the bluray is just PCM stereo).
How do you explain Band Maid to someone? You show them Puzzle live. Nothing more needs to be said.

Always love the Maids. But I think they have left Saiki's voice a bit thin on this one The usual depth & timbre is not there. Same on their last live release release too. I prefer the mix on the 2019 live version of Puzzle myself.
