  • Super excited to bring you the mod guide for the Hori Fighting Stick Neo I/II. We are taking what is a decent arcade stick for the Neo geo / Supergun and making it excellent with a new Seimitsu joystick lever and new Seimitsu buttons. I consider this mod intermediate but I believe in you! Give it a shot!
    Please post your completed mods on Instagram so I can check them out!

    I absolutely LOVED this 'How To'. I just taught myself how to Crimp both Spade and JST connectors, Making Splice cable, and stuff..
    So what I loved here was the examples of Freedom of choice people actual have available to them. .
    When it comes to this kind of work, peoole become absolutely way to Rigid...but it does make sense... We are dabbling in a sort of work which in my opinion has been Mystified in order to shy people away from Electrical work and HAVE to devote yourself to a Trade.
    These people color code with everything try so hard to make you never realize that cooper cable is copper cable, or a Conductor will Conduct so as long as the medium in witch voltage is traveling through is unified, or touching which is why you reinforce the idea that Metal cannot touch metal in regards to the conduction of electricity so you cover it with something.... That should help others understand why you gotta use Silicone sleeves for your Space Connectors...
    And all this Solid information is just all for modding Arcade Sticks... People wouldn't even realized they are learning something they could make a career in.
    Thanks for the upload, and I am Very Much waiting on those New Wave M.A.S Sticks!
    I want one for my Xbox Platforms!

    If I'd known about the LS-33 when I did my mod, I'd have used that over the LS-56. Less dremel work, but it still gets the job done.

    Recently modded my Neo II with seimitsu Sels-70.
    it comes with the NT shaft and I found I didn't need to grind anything off on the shaft and you can remove two washers to get a similar height of the original stick.

    Hi! You've inspired me to do a mod for the Hori hps, and I wanted to know how you go about finding out which wires are the ground for the joystick, my board looks nothing like this one so I don't think they would be the same. Thanks!

  • @wadestoss3325
    @wadestoss3325 2 роки тому

    At first the LS-56's height terrified me, its so high and it made it unpractical to use a bat top which I prefer. Oddly enough though when I tried it out it just kinda felt awesome. My favorite ball top lever.
    I didnt know counter sink bits exist, I should probably get one, the one time I had to counter sink I just used a bigger drill bit lol

    Know anything about the DB15 pin connector? I need to install a cord on a Hori Neo 1 Fighting Stick and I don't have any cords there to help. It's been completely remove from the connector.

  • @MarcBarkyMarta
    @MarcBarkyMarta 2 роки тому

    So just a quick note - for any of these Supergun/Neo Geo sticks, another option is to pick up a female DB15 screw terminal, look at wiring online for each pin, and just connect your own wire ends with a screwdriver. A lot less soldering if that's not your best skill (like me). You can then shave down a Neo Geo/DB15 extension cable at the male end with a Dremel, and just connect the wire to the screw terminal and run it through the hole. I've done this for a bunch of sticks and love it! Pretty easy to do.

    • @MarcBarkyMarta

      @@ScanlineCity well, if you're interested, my next project involves creating a Sega Genesis/MD stick out of a Sega Virtua Stick High Grade, a DB9 terminal and an Arduino with code I'm writing. With an Arduino, the sky is the limit if you can learn to code it, and with just a little programming, you can add turbo. Just waiting on some components to test!

    Thanks for the video, though unfortunately someone told me this stick was a "drop-in" replacement and to check out your videos, but I'd rather not do any drilling and cutting on a fairly hard-to-find stick (a Neo II is about $100 right now).
    Do you have any general advice or videos on stick refurbishing? Mine's just a bit stiff once you start pushing the microswitches, like 50-100% throw is much much stiffer than before the microswitches actuate. I suppose I could replace them? Or maybe there's something I can grease?
    Thank you!

    • @ScanlineCity
      @ScanlineCity  2 роки тому

      Yeah if you don't want to drill etc I would just clean the heck out of it and use a bit of grease. But honestly it so much better with the mod and for the most part you really can't ruin the stick

    Why not just soLder the board to the buttons the way it was? That is easy enough to do, and the soLder pads are easily large enough if you need to expand the holes.
    Much tidier and no need for that messy glue or cardboard.

    Hey Scanline, I had commented on your pcb cover interview with Retro RGB and tried to get the word out to other arcade channels that I knew of. I hope its reception has been going well for you. I'm looking forward to your MAS designs more and hope to see an Industrias Lorezno version (or ultimarc magstick + which I think is secretly built by iL, but I have no proof). Also do you know any brand that uses Hall effect for their sticks? I'd personally like to see a MAS variant as a drop in replacement deck for Arcade1Up's and the like. In the future, it would be cool to see an engineered motorized/mechanical gate that adjusts for games based on their need for a square; octagonal; circlular; vertical; or horizontal gate based on game type.
