- In this video, I go over the Meta Quest 3 Battery Head Strap by KIWI Design. It was the most comfortable, best balanced headset in my opinion for the Quest 2, so why fix what isn’t broken? Well, KIWI Design have kept the design the same, but increased the wattage output to help power the more powerful Quest 3. To confirm - The Quest 3 can charge at either 15w, or 18w depending on the load on the headset. Hope the video was useful, and thanks for watching 👍
hi.... how it`s best way to use it ? let battery drain on the quest 3 and after connect the head strap battery ? or keep connected all the time ?
Connect it straight away, this will be the same for all battery head straps, so they can keep the Quest 3 as topped up as possible until the headstrap is drained. If you start with a low Quest 3 battery, then there is a chance the Quest 3 battery will run out before your battery headstrap is fully used. This will depend on the load on the Quest 3 though, hope that helps 👍

How is it with face and forhead pressure?
I just installed one of these on my Q3 and concur with this review. It is definitely more comfortable than the Meta version. I have both and will be using the Kiwi.

Can either of you tell me if this head strap fits in the official meta quest 3 case please?! (Obviously whilst attached to the headset!)

@@rasterico I don’t have the case, but its dimensions are very similar to the Meta version so it probably will fit. Maybe check the web site or call their customer service to check.
@@JamesBond-qv2ht I found a video by Kiwi themselves that shows it fits perfectly in the official case so ordered it! Got it earlier and can confirm it’s a very comfortable strap! Just waiting for my official case to come now :) thanks for getting back to me :)
Thank you for the review! I've been looking for this. When the headstrap is connected to Q3, will it charge both strap and Q3 when the strap is plugged in?
Glad you found it useful, you can charge both the Quest 3 and headstrap if you have the headstrap plugged into the Quest 3, and the headstrap charging, but the speed that the Quest 3 charges is reduced. So it will take longer to charge the Quest 3 this way. This happens with other battery head straps too and isn't something that just happens with the KIWI Design one. Hope that helps 👍

@@DayDreamerVRwhat about this Kiwi battery strap with the Meta charging dock. I really bought the dock for the controller batteries and to charge them, but im hesitant to charge my headset with the Kiwi strap on the Meta dock. Do you know if it would be an issue?
@@UA-cam_This no it will be fine, both the Quest 3 and the headstrap have built in protection which would prevent any issue 👍

I think there's still a lingering bug with the charging where it gets stuck at that lower charge rate until the unit is fully drained. For a while, my charging issues were resolve until they mysteriously re-appeared and started draining the Q3 while still plugged in to my 10000 mah battery. Nothing I did could resolve the issue until the headset's battery got run down all the way one day, and it was suddenly holding 100% again.
This behavior has happened 4 times now, and I basically jumped for joy when I heard the headset die yesterday. I charged it up today and it's back to working just fine.
I think you're right. When working in immersed, sometimes my battery stays topped up at 100% for as long as I'm working, and the next time, with no changes the Quest 3 can drain relatively quickly. I hope it is something that can be sorted 👍
@@DayDreamerVR What's your experience with the headset and adapter piece 4 months on now? Has it improved or have you found any solutions to this issue?
@@cryptosguns although the adapter was an option, kiwi stopped selling them as the charging rate of the Quest 2 version of their comfort battery head strap wasn't as high as it could be for the Quest 3. So the newer quest 3 kiwi design comfort battery head strap will give a higher charging rate (3 amps, so 15watts). This still won't be high enough if you are pushing the Quest 3 and it's using power quicker than that, but the Quest 2 strap with the adapters will really struggle to keep up so the headset could discharge quicker. If you do go for the Quest 2 version and adapters, then as long as the headset doesn't fully run out of charge before the strap has discharged all of its battery, then you should get around the same overall battery life. Hope that helps 👍

I just got mine in today. I tried it on, and it felt great. I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet though, so not sure how long it will last.
Glad you liked the comfort. It should just slightly over double your Quest 3 battery life. So if you typicall get around 2 hours, it should now be around 4. Makes you wonder what the point of Meta's own one is at over twice the price with half the battery size. Hope you're pleased with it when testing 👍

Would you reccomend this headstrap over the aubika quest 3 headstrap with 8000 mah and 18w charging?
That's a difficult one. The battery is likely to last a bit longer when gaming with the Aubika 8000mAh, and it will be able to keep the Quest 3 topped up for longer due to its 18w charging rate. The Aubika is comfortable, and has good reviews. I don't like the charging port being underneath on the Aubika strap, as I find it just easier to charge from above, but thats only a small thing. The Aubika strap doesn't have the padding at the rear, so potentially could be slightly less comfortable, but it's still good. Both will work well for balancing the headset. The KIWI Design head strap is cheaper from what I can see of prices right now. But I can't get the KIWI Design headstrap on Amazon UK so delivery could be longer. I like the design overall of the KIWI strap more, but again its probably a personal preference thing, and it is slightly more comfortable, but only slightly. I would stick with the KIWI Design strap, but then I haven't ever needed a longer battery, and if I'm working all day in it I plug the headset straight into a USB C mains charger anyway so don't use the battery in it. Hopefully this has helped you decide based on your usage etc 👍

i was between these 2 aswell. but being from the UK and hearing of bad shippping from kiwi im edging towards the aubika, but im still unsure which one to get
and the kiwi is like half the price aswell

Does this mean when my quest is switched off it will continue to charge my quest? Or only battery stays on when quest is on?
It should continue to charge even if your Quest is off 👍
@@DayDreamerVR is this a bad thing. I mean there is no on off button so I’d charge from the back usb to charge the battery and the quest 3 once it’s charged I unplug the cable . But then the battery continues to charge a full quest until that battery drains?
@@ChrisJones-sw9il I think once the Quest 3 battery is full, it stops pulling current through, so the battery strap stops at that point, although it might still show a green light to indicate the Q3 battery is fully charged 👍
Does it relieve face n forhead pressure?
As it is really well balanced, and has the big padded top strap, it means you don't have to have it so tight to stop it moving up/down your face, and reduces pressure on your face. I also use the Pace VR fabric cover for the facial interface, and that makes the facial interface more comfortable too. With both, it does make the Quest 3 very comfortable with less pressure on your face 👍
@@DayDreamerVR what i needed to hear, i also ordered the AMVR facial interface, i think both are gonna solve my problem and finally be able to use my quest 3 because honestly i became draided to grab and use the headset like it is some plague.. and even regreted buying it at some point.
