Use that stapler upside down. Its easier to keep presure under your hand than out in front of it. The battle with that type of stapler is consistent presure at the point where the staple ejects.

That turned out awesome, I love the colors. I think I would have put a gutter on the building, gonna dump a lot of water in your run.
