I disagree with you on using the outsert, It is very necessary to protect the permanent lens from damage. There are also more options than just the smoked lens

Good mask, as soon as I started my FRDF CBRN Specialist role we switched from the older cbrn masks to these, the difference was like day and night.

As a 74D, I can tell you M50 is a great mask compared to the M40. I do have to explain to soldiers one of the big differences between the two: M40, you can breath without the cannister being attached and not so for the M50.

Hey, sorry nobody got back to you. I got issued this mask with the inserts about a year ago, used it a lot in the field. If you haven't found out already yourself, the inserts are great. They cover almost your whole field of vision, and there's a few degrees of separation between them and your forehead so they don't fog up as fast as you'd think. Glasses *I think* will break your seal so that's bad to go, but I've always had the inserts so I can't say for sure. Good luck

Very nice video. I have a question. I know the filter mask is for gas. Is there any filters for M60 mask to use for COVID-19?
The virus is extremely small. It would work for the most part but you could absolutely still get the virus
@@CombatArmsChannel since it comes out of pneumonic lungs , the particles are hardly on their own. they're usually attached to other particles increasing in size.
Is it possible to address cheek placement when using a rifle and hydration? Will one of the filters need to be removed? What will the hydration tube connect to? A usgi canteen? Bladder? Thanks for sharing.
One filter is usually removed when shooting, works well. Just gotta ensure the rubber seal inside isnt damaged before or after. Tube connects to a canteen cap that is included but you can also buy and adapter for camelbak as well

Can you do a video on cleaning one? Or explain what you do? I've been using Lysol wipes to clean mine, but I haven't been able to clean the inside and the Lysol wipes I feel are removing something off the mask
Don't use Lysol to clean your mask. This is recommended against strongly by the manufacturer. Use Warm Water only if you aren't trained on maintaining your mask. If you are exposed to a CBRN environment and don't have the proper resources to decon it, only use glycerin soap.
Use soap and warm water and soft cloth. I also use lens cleaner eye glass wipes for face len

How long do the filters last when exposed to open air?
Shelf life of 5 years when sealed, 30 days when opened, and 8-24 hours when exposed to a CBRN threat

Depends very much on the environment. Activated carbon can last 3x~5x longer than advertised if you only use the filters sporadically, in relatively clean environments. It's also worth noting that filters tend to slowly lose their capacity to adsorb or neutralize contaminants, which means that expired filters will still tend to work for a while, with some loss in performance, and can therefore be useful against less serious chemical threats.

@@D00dman I would steer clear of ebay or amazon selling m50 masks, at least for now. Many have been selling replicas that are used for airsoft or paintball and claiming they are the real deal, and charging a ton for it, obviously.

@@pjotrskuksjonoks5109 both lol. Rn on eBay the M50 is in more quantity than the C50. But I’d still be skeptical of the stock on eBay since some of the M50s found there may not be in serviceable conditions, depending on the listing of course.

Yikes, are you sure this is infantry proof? I suffocated myself like an idiot when I took both filters off to check if they were blue and the mask sealed itself.

tip #1: don't refer the M50 as a Pro Mask, Pro mask is the commercial mask term, M50 is a military specific mask. So M50 is just M50. There are differences in quality and military performance of Pro Mask vs M50.
