    Great boat, your'e going to have a real adventure ! Looking to move over in a couple of years, but not sure my Mrs would be up for living in a boat though. Look forward to seeing the video with the place cleaned up ;)

    Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us, our intention is to buy a sailboat next year and give it a whirl. We have wonderful friends in Batangas and Puerto Galera that will help us get started. Looking forward to new adventures in the Philippines, Cheers

    Hi Ronnie , love the boat ,I hope it goes well for you ,id get some tuition before you cast off ,its not as easy as it looks sailing a boat , there are a lot of online courses and try to find an experienced sailor to guide you , if it was me , id check the hull to see if it clean and free of fouling and have a mechanic go over the engine and have the diesel cleaned as it can deteriorate if its been left for a long time ,the books to read have names such as day skipper and coastal skipper ,learn to read charts and stuff like that ,I wish it was me

      Hi Ronnie, really interested in how you found the boat and the buying process. I've just done a sailing course for beginners at PGYC and looking to buy a boat for retirement in Phils. Originally, I'm from Motherwell. Most online web sites have expensive or over-priced yachts. Know any reasonable ones? Are you going solo or having any crew?

    Nice boat, most kids go to the Boy Scouts when they are young, I went to the Sea Scouts and learned all about boats there. In fact I sailed a 30ft. Ketch from Baltimore Md. Chesapeake Bay, to Panama City, Florida when I was 24yrs. old. It was an old Wood boat but had a wide beam and could sail without barely touching the tiller. I hope you have a great time with your boat. OH, isn't it really hot inside the cabin?

    Hello! Thank you for the video. My friends and me are planning to Philippine this April to have a sail trip. Can you recommend some companies to rent a sail boat for cheap?

    Whatever you do here in the Philippines, is hard work. Nothing is straight forward. If you go to the bank to draw a large sum of money or sort out your bank account. You could be sitting there most of the day.

    You just cannot be a pack-rat and live on a sailboat! That boat probably acts so heavy with all that stuff. Good luck getting organized! I'm hoping to be looking for another boat soon... if we can ever get back there!

    No exact date yet of moving there, but could be a few months to a year. At least I wont have to worry about a monthly income once over there since the Navy/VA takes good care of me. Would love to see your boat in person. As I said I miss being on the ocean on a daily basis.

      You got it. I will be in Angeles for a bit then in Dumaguete. You plan to take her out to the open ocean? If you are even thinking about you best make sure you know how to handle her.

    I'm curious what you paid for the boat?? Are you planning on taking it to other islands like Palawan? I have often thought of crewing on a boat around SE Asia or South Pacific. In a few months I will finally have the means & time.

      @RetirementplansPhilippines  6 років тому +2

      The plan is to cruise the Philippines including Palawan. You can find the price of sailboats on the sites Broadwater marina and Puerto Galera Yacht club. The price of Hawkeye remains with me as one day I will be selling, Sure you understand.

    Great boat! I'm a bit curious why a guy who isn't a sailor would buy a boat? I spent most of my adult life in the US Navy and really miss being on the water. I will be moving over there in a few months so maybe I will run into you. What did you pay for it?

      I was a sailor/seaman in the north sea for five years but thats got nothing or very little to do with my decision, I just wanted a adventure, I love to travel but because of my injuries i need my home close at hand. Best of both worlds.

    by ra way: transferwise dot com is great for international money transfers - much cheaper than local banks!

    Is there good deals on boats there? I've always wanted to buy one here in the states. In Socal they seem to be very inexpensive as there is a lot of marinas but also not any typhoons.

      you get what you pay for, you can get a live aboard cheep but to go to sea you require a bit more.

    They make it hard to transfer peso to dollar to send outside the country because President Duterte buried the Philippines to insurmountable loans and debts from China. They desperately need to keep all the money within Philippines. Philippine economy is top heavy and very fragile, it could collapse if they don't do aggressive measures. Duterte is a very bad economic manager. The annual national budget since he took office was deficit in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and that for the first time in 15 years were budget were always balanced.
