Carl might get scared when taking a car ride because of getting left behind by whoever dumped him. Maybe when he realizes he's not getting left behind he'll get over being car sick. Now he's nice and clean and being taken good care of. GOD bless y'all.
Such a sweet baby. He behaved so well while getting cleaned up. I wish a little dog like him would find me. ❤ He knew he had found the right place with your family.
Your vet can give you something to give him before drives. You give it about an hour before you go. If he was dumped before you found him, it's probably nerves. Everytime he gets in the car, he may be scared that he's not coming back.
Hi Brandi. Love your videos. Carl couldn't have a better family. He wasn't too happy about that bath. So adorable now that he had a good washing. God bless and love yall ❤❤
We'll be praying for the children and all that this sickness will pass and everyone will be well soon. Carl did so good getting his bath I'll tell you he stumbled into the right people, they say dogs pick their people and he got a wonderful family. He's a smart boy. God bless yas 😊
Brandy the black rubber mat hanging on the wall behind the dog is for them to stand on while being bathed so they dont slip , but it only works if you actually put it into the bath ( just so you know for next time LOL )
My 2 girls get car sick also. When I drive alone, I have them in the front passenger seat, and they never get sick. When I have someone else driving, I sit with them on my lap in the front passenger seat. It's something about the back seat. I also try never to give them anything to eat if we're driving somewhere or while were driving. Just a thought.🤷🏻♀️❤️ Hopefully, the remote training collar helps him. I have never trained with one of them but know several people who have and they work. Also, try to use, like, one to two word commands. Like No, Leave It, Off, Stay. It also helps to use a sound like a loud SSSH! TSCH! Grrr! (Growl sound) or his name Carl! as an attention getter! I've used that for years. Carl! No! (can be for thing you don't want him to do), Carl! Leave It!(this one especially for the chickens), Carl! Off! (this one for when he is jumping on you or jumping up on stuff) These are just some ideas. I've used these for years for all kinds and sizes of dogs. I've also tried other things inside the house like a can with a few washers, bolts or coins in it with a lid you shake it to get their attention and then say the command. Or a spray bottle. Spray and give the command. But like I said I never had a remote training collar (also known as a "shock" collar). I used training collar (also known as a "choke" collar). I hope these ideas help. 🤷🏻♀️ Carl looks so cute. He did better than my girls would have done when you turned on that blow dryer. They would have lost their minds!!!😱 Y'all are so good with him. Actually, he did extremely well. He is such a good boy.❤ God bless.😊❤
Maybe Carl could be somewhere he can look out the window. I used to get car sick until I realized I didn't as long as I wasn't looking down. Sorry your town is having so much trouble with illness. Will say a special prayer for them.
Bet he feels better having a bath. Most dogs get motion sickness, riding in a car.My dog did.we started taking her on short trips to the store, with a grocery bag for her to throw up in.I sat out in the car with her, while her, while my husband went into the store. We did this many times, going out a little father each time. Then she stopped throwing up .We were able to take her on long vacation trips with us.This might work for you.🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Carl is adorable ❤so glad he found you ❤God bless you and your family for keeping Carl ❤❤❤you guys are the best ❤❤much love from Traverse City Michigan ❤
The more Carl rides in the car the more relaxed he will become. The more relaxed no throwing up. You could start with rides up & down the driveway. He may relax more riding in a crate. Glad your family rescued him. Have a safe & blessed day from NC
Brandy just an FYI, you can place those black mats hanging in front of you on the bottom of the shower so Carl doesn't slip around so much. Carl's really lucky to have found a loving family!
I have a dog that gets carsick also. I got a prescription from my vet for a pill to give him about 1/2 hour or so before I need to leave and it works great.
I wish I knew that. It's motion sickness. We took it on the boat when we went fishing on the ocean. I use to get sick real bad. My dog was carsick every vet appointment.
@marilynhemingway5219 ok I was wondering because I take gabapentin myself, they only give her one for the trip, small dose but I am going to ask him about the dramamine instead, I don't like her using it. Thank you God Bless you
From someone who used to work in a dog grooming salon. If you want him clean, clean, get some Orvus paste and use it with the dog shampoo (be sure to not get in the eyes), about the size of a dime in diameter and thickness for his size (this stuff is really concentrated) and you will see how dirty he really is. Rinse really well, then use regular dog shampoo (I love lambert kay's tearless shampoo), with him I would use a whitening shampoo since he is so light colored. Then rinse well and use a tiny bit of conditioner. With the blow dryer, he would dry faster if you brush him the same time while blowing him starting when he was about 1/3 dry, keep brushing and blowing till he is fully dry. As for the eye goop, you can trim that area yourself carefully with a scissors, I trim where the nose starts a good slop (1/3 of the eye length) as tight to the skin as I can get without cutting the dog, if you have to go in several shorter "layers" that is ok too. I go up over the nose, do the same with the other side just wide enough that it is easier to get the goop off before it gets tangled in his long hair. To trim the face just grab the hair under his front jaw and hold his head still, if he starts hopping around give a stern "no" and a tiny side to side tug of the hair you are holding. It will not hurt him and if he fights you do not give up and let him have his way. When trimming just be careful to not poke him in the eye. If you want a faster way you can use the clippers and use a 10 blade, just wide enough to have the lower eye corner short, again be careful of hitting him in the eye or eyelid with the clipper blade. Be stern with him, you can not "baby" him when doing this stuff. He needs to learn what you will allow and not allow. I would actually look and see if the closest town to you if any pet stores offer obedience classes and if they do at least take him for at least the beginner class to teach the most basics. Trust me he will listen much better, might be something Hope might be interested in doing with him. The car sick issue, he most likely will not grow out of it, just make sure to have a large towel with for him any time you have to take him in a vehicle.
One of my cats always got car sick in her cat carrier. She always got diarrea. I always lined the carrier with newspaper. It was a smelly mess. Carl looks so cute all cleaned up. I'm sure it was a dramatic experience for him. I have never seen a pet washing place in my Tractor Supply stores. Or maybe I just never noticed.
Carl doesn’t look like much when he is wet. Reminds me of my Sheltie. When she got wet there just wasn’t much of her seemed like. Brandi you are so great with Carl. You speak softly and encourage him. Thank you for the video. I will be praying for your community.
I enjoy watching a channel that does pet grooming and Carl does better than alot of the ones that are regularly groomed by a professional. What a little trooper. Look at all the $$ saved.
Carl is adorable, talk with your Vet about giving him something for anxiety in the car.. Our Doberman use to be that way we were able to give her 50mg of Benadryl before car rides.
My puppy Summer did the same thing in the car.. I started taking her on more rides and a clean up bag of paper towels and stuff. I also put her on a doggie pad on my lap and I always buckle her in. We go camping a lot so I had to get her used to it. She did quickly. I took doggie chews to keep her busy and she was great.I just love Carl. Good luck.
There is medicine you can get for Carl. We used children Benadryl. Your Veterinarian can tell you what dosage. Also we found doing short rides 3-4 times a week help for the dog to get use to the movements, but definitely did the meditation for longer out of town trips, it also makes them sleepy. Hope all works out. 😊🙏🏼
Aww, Carl got a bath, i noticed the black mats hanging on a hook i do believe that those are put down to keep animals from sliding on the slippery bath floor. Carl is a trooper. My GS would have jumped out every chance he got. Carl is looking pretty clean❤. Car rides were not my GS favorite thing always got sick so we never let him drink or eat anything until we got back home from the vets office. Sending prayers to everyone that is unwell. Sanitize and distancing would be a good idea. Ya'll be safe and see you again in the next video ❤
Before you go anywhere in the vehicle, make sure he doesn’t eat anything. Our Pomeranian used to get car sick all the time till I figured out she was eating before I took her for rides. Now she does great on rides & actually is excited to go!! Good luck!!
We always put our dog in a kennel to take her any where because she gets sick every time we go any where there is a medication that helps but you have to give it to them a half hrs to 45 minutes 😮 before you go and no feeding before you go😮❤
Carl is blessed because you kept him, loving him, caring for him and giving him a safe and secure home. I know Sean did not want another fur baby, but I think he has accepted the ladies of KID absolutely love Carl and will keep him always. Plus Sean may have spoke tough, but he too is an animal/dog/cat lover. A tough former Marine can be a big ole softie when it comes to his girls. It helps BRANDI is the real tough one!🤪🥰 Carl facial appearance reminded me of DNA of a Schnauzer. He sure does have terrier in him, but wonder what else. He is beautiful, I would have rescued him and LOVED him immensely, just like you all.
I had a dog that got car sick, we did not feed him breakfast when we knew he was going to be going anywhere in the car. We fed him when we got home or to our destination. It didn;t hurt him to miss a meal now and again and it made taking trips a lot easier.
I couldn't say the word "bath" around my cocker spaniel. He'd run into the bathroom and sit down in the shower. There was no option other than to give him a bath. If you didn't, he'd sit in their whining, crying and barking until you gave in and he got a bath.

I just love Carl❣️ He's a sweet boy ❣️

This dog chose the right family now he is the "baby" and he loves you all, nice addition to your family. And he is crazy about your kids.
I’m so glad he chose us ❤️
Hi count it all joy! Poor Carl. Is Hadley letting her hair grow longer? She looks awesome!
He did great!!! Would love to have one of those get ups in my home!! Carl is a precious little soul.

Our doxie would get car sick so we started putting the window down and let her get some air. Had a harness on her for safety.
Carl was so good through all that washing.

Try giving him a few ginger snap cookies before you leave. I had to do this with my Great Pyrenees.
