Thank you for the video. It took about 10 minutes to open, straighten and re-assemble. I have seen people mention this as being a manufacturing flaw, but it looks like cable was purposely bent in that fashion in order to run it on top of the rest of the ribbon cables that are bound with the blue tape and secured by the clips on the Wifi module mounting bracket. This is absolutely a design flaw though, especially with all the head room under the cover. Thank you again.

MrBentFinger Thank you for taking the time to do this UA-cam video. Our Wi-Fi hasn’t been working on our LG for over a year now. Today I figured I would get back on UA-cam to try and troubleshoot it again and I found your video. We are so thankful. Thank you so much.
First, this is an awesome, effective fix. Thanks a bunch @MrBentFingers! Second: I have a somewhat extensive background in High Frequency circuit design. This looks like a classic issue of either bleeding out the RF signal at the bend (really poor attention to detail). Or using unshielded ribbon cable AND allowing a fold back bend in the cable. Either way, RF loves to play on the surface of the copper, so any sharp bends will encourage signal loss to ground - which, in this case, is the TV’s metal case and the connector hardware. You are a serious service to humanity, Dude! My girlfriend was blocked from training to V-Shred videos. And I need my Andrew Huberman fix. We can’t have that now, can we?!?

@@PeteG0429 Unfortunately did not work for me, even went the extra mile to insulate/shield the wires with faraday tape just in case. Got a new cable and wifi module on the way since they were cheap. My TV model is OLED55B7A-U
I have the same problem with my LG 65UH9500. Do you have a theory as to why this works? I suspect it has to do with re-seating the ribbon in its connector which then makes a better electrical connection than existed before. The contacts on the ribbons are pretty thin.
Hey DT, What I believe happens when straightening out the ribbons is you’re opening up the highway for data? Know what I mean? When it’s crimped it eventually is unable to carry the signal and eventually breaks fully, when you straighten it, you pump life back in it! Best example I can give. Good Luck and I highly appreciate the comment, like & subscribe.

I had to do the same with my UJ7700 when I open it up I noticed the Wi-Fi card wasn't burnt broken or w o r n. But I did notice for some reason the wires connecting the card we're bent in an odd Direction for no reason there was more than enough room for it to be straight and you have almost an extra 3 feet of wire bundled up I think the wire kind of acts like an antenna so I straightened out the wires and put the back on the TV. Thanks for sharing. Does it works on all LG smart TV model? just thinking Why would LG TV manufacturer do such, when it will cause future problem on WIFI connections?
John, I can’t speak to all LG Smart TV’s because I have not personally opened every make and model. However, if you are experiencing the same issues...there’s a good possibility this would fix that issue. Good Luck! 🍀
It is NOT THE WIRES BEING BENT! It is disconnecting the wires that resets the modem. The mother board resets when you disconnect the wire buss. I take tvs apart and take off the wiring connectors and it resets the whole TV. Then when I turn it back on I get a welcome screen and have to set the TV up.
Not necessarily so. I never disconnected the wire buss, just made sure the ribbon cables were fully seated. I am not saying that resetting the buss won't fix any failure, as there will be a few failure modes for any given component. So, there is no reason to go uppercase and all.
@@1dfineus2dfendus25 A lot of people remove the wifi from its mound and put back on. Which I think allows it to lose the common ground and reset it. I would assume there is battery or long term capacitance holding a charge to the circuit. It comes down to not having the network cord plugged into the TV. That causes it by default to shut off the wifi. My setup I have the network cord plugged in. I did get it to reset the wifi without taking it apart. It did shut back off again. Weeks later(now) I just checked it. The wifi came back on and shows routers out there. I am using the network cord to the modem at this time.
I just did a factory reset, pain in the rear but it worked. I have a brand new LG OLED, so no way am I taking the back off. Wish I'd bought a Sony now.
Just so you know…IMO I would buy Samsung, the UI and remote are way better! If you have anything in front of the Sony IR window you can basically say the remote is garbage! Again, just my opinion…I will buy Samsung from now on.
I would assume when a person takes the TV WIFI off of the metal frame of the TV body, It looses the common Ground. Thus resetting the WIFI back on. I have heard many people disconnect the ribbon from the motherboard for a minute, also get the WIFI to turn back on. If you have a network cable plugged into the TV from the modem, expect the TV to shut the WIFI back off if you have gotten it to turn back on. I think it is a energy and memory saving thing. Anyways. I did not do this de-constructive fix to turn on the LG WIFI internally. ( ͡👁️ ͜ʖ ͡👁️) I chose a different fix. I just went into the tv menu. General - Location - LG services country. ♦Turned off "Set automatically". Changed it to Canada. The TV re-started. Then went back in the "LG services country" and changed it back to USA, Making sure the Set automatically was shut off. Exit. TV re-booted. Now, it didnt turn the WIFI on at that time. Next morning I turned TV on. The TV was on for 5 minutes. It shut itself off. I turned it back on. I went into the menu - network wifi. The WIFI was then on and showing all the signals around me. Be prepared to re-select your Apps when it reboots. It does not reset the TV. Just the apps menu that flashes across the bottom of your screen. It shows one it is NOT a wiring issue. Its a firmware issue. Good luck too all in your TV repair.
Hey JJ J, Hallelujah! Am I right? 😂 Thanks for leaving a like/comment. As John Belushi said as Bluto in Animal House said “Be sure to sub...Don’t Cost Nothing!”

I tried taking the back cover fully off but it doesn’t come off unfortunately so I coudnt fully try it, also the wiring was different on my tv so it was more difficult
Well, if you couldn’t get the back off I don’t know what else I can tell you here. You have to be firm, but gentle enough so you don’t crack plastic or break clips off. If you are unable to perform the first step here then I can’t really guide you other than to seek help from a professional. Best of luck!

Ask your parents to help, it may just need to have a new password setup because it’s no longer recognizing the old one. Then if your parents think it’s because there is an issue within the inside of the tv...maybe you can help them by showing them this video and if they think this is the solution- then you can help them fix it together. I hope your problem is solved soon and thanks for leaving a comment. Let me know how everything works out! 👍🏻

the whole TV. Then when I turn it back on I get a welcome screen and
have to set the TV up.
Appreciate the feedback, I have never claimed to be a professional…however, it worked and that’s what the video shows.
@@PeteG0429 I am glad you are a helpful person. Keep it up. =) You will live long.
TY - Karma Increased by 5pts. 😂👍🏻
I would assume when a person takes the TV WIFI off of the metal frame of
the TV body, It looses the common Ground. Thus resetting the WIFI back
on. I have heard many people disconnect the ribbon from the motherboard
for a minute, also get the WIFI to turn back on.
Thank you for your help!
You’re quite welcome and thank you for the like and subscribe!!!

White Tyrone you’re very welcome. I highly appreciate it. Thanks for the sub!

Hey JJ J,
Hallelujah! Am I right? 😂 Thanks for leaving a like/comment. As John Belushi said as Bluto in Animal House said “Be sure to sub...Don’t Cost Nothing!”
The WiFi keeps searching for me and does not find any connection available even though the WiFi is switched on and is working fine... any one have any fixes?
Did you try this fix that’s in my video? I’m just curious if you’ve attempted this fix yet???
I tried taking the back cover fully off but it doesn’t come off unfortunately so I coudnt fully try it, also the wiring was different on my tv so it was more difficult
Well, if you couldn’t get the back off I don’t know what else I can tell you here. You have to be firm, but gentle enough so you don’t crack plastic or break clips off. If you are unable to perform the first step here then I can’t really guide you other than to seek help from a professional. Best of luck!
Think this might be my problem, but I'm not so sure how risky it is to take apart the tv. It's not mine, its my fathers.
Torjus HT Then you would definitely talk to him about it before doing anything. Then he can decide what needs to happen from there. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck w/dad! Show him this video, I’d appreciate it!
Me being 12 👁👄👁. I don’t know how to do this and my WiFi doesn’t connect and it’s making me mad I’ve put in the WiFi password like 20 times and still doesn’t work😞.
@@PeteG0429 my parents thinks is because of the auto clicker I have all night but it isn't, trying to explained to parents but they say no of course. Thanks for the offer I might so in a couples months please remind me.
