Unclogging Lake Intake Culvert

- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

I checked after making this video we are actually in a moderate drought about to hit a severe drought if we don't get a bunch of rain fast
I'm in Idaho and we're having serious drought as well. ☹️
@@Dana.1 - I live in Texas and there are burn bans, but some guy in our local news literally set stuff on fire (🔥)...
In the uk we are nearly in a drought and by the end of August a severe is predicted, but then we have got 5 weeks of rain predicted, typical uk weather.
Same with portions of RI
@@UltimateLegobuilder2024 Speak for yourself. I'm in North East England and we've had rains every day for the last week. Just you southerners with issues, as usual 🤣
I'm on the hunt for blocked culverts here in Perth, Australia. I'll make you proud brother haha
I just spent 3 hours watching a guy clear culverts. My stress level has disappeared. This should be required watching for everyone before they start their day.
Love it when you say things like "come check it out". Every video feels like a little journey I've been taken on!
I’ve commented this on another video but think it’s worth mentioning again. I really appreciate the temperature conversion on screen. 👍
I also thought that was very thoughtful of him to put the temperature conversion for others who may be used to the metric system because sometimes I get irritated when European videos use the metric system and do not convert it to English system so therefore I have no idea what distances or weights they're talking about unless I did a bunch of math figures LOL
@@justicekrista5665 because the entire planet uses metric.
@@penguin44ca I know that, except for the US.. a friend explained it to me and the metric system is much easier to use, but when you're born and raised with the US system I mean unless you can really do some quick math calculations, it is hard to know those distances and weights
You've given me the motivation to do the same thing. Drain that's been blocked for almost a year was causing some bad flooding so i cleared it out. So satisfying, keep up the good work.
Great work! Would've loved to see that too
Nice one!
Literally the best result of sharing content.
Brothers from another mother. Look at where the river overflows the dam, Turtle!
Love your enthusiasm and knowledge.
You're my guilty pleasure post 10
This was a fun episode. It's so beautiful! And I loved seeing the little fishes swimming around in the culvert! ☺️
I love seeing familiar locations in the different seasons. Last time I was here with you it was all about the frazzle ice 🌻☀🍂❄
So cool to see the river not raging!
Always enjoy how educational your videos are. That you take the time to observe your surroundings before taking action. The rock you did not move is a perfect example.
Also loving the duel camera action. You are stepping up your posting game in all the right ways.
Suddenly feel the urge to swim. No idea why.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures and thank you even more for your work! You are awesome ✌️😄
Do you realize how much pleasure your videos bring people? You’re amazing. Thanks for another relaxing, friendly, informative and satisfying instalment!
Wonderful to see a young person interested in the Water Cycle, the ecosystems of his community, and his hard work in ameliorating some blots on the environment.
I think you just aren't looking in the right places, because I work with geologists and other environmental scientists all across the country who do all of the above, and the millenial/z generations are as (if not more) engaged as any before them. We're the ones who grew up in the post-Rachel Carson era. It's too bad that your first reaction is to be surprised.
Hey Post. Do you reckon that when the DoT come along and find that work has already been done, do you reckon they know it's you. Maybe they check your recent videos to see if they need to go out to certain places.
It's incredible work Sir.
I know things to be a fact if I've heard you say it.
I reckon by the time you get to a certain age you won't even need to use the rake, it'll just clear with a wave of your hand.
There's a lot of crazy, awful, selfishness and just plain mean stuff happening in the world but just knowing that there's people like you out there, doing what you do, with knowledge and effort, then it makes it a bit more bearable.
Knowledge and effort is the key to saving us.
Cheers mate. And as ever.
Love from Liverpool UK.
Love the photos at the end and the baby turtle. I feel like I'm in the woods watching this video.
you have a very useful hobby my friend
Nice to see this lake in the summer, we mostly visit in the winter 👍
Such a beautiful location. I remember you heaving ice blocks into the river. Simple pleasures, and always the kid inside you having fun! Thanks so much for making me wish I was there in these amazing places which I’m getting to know through the seasons. I never get tired of watching, and yes, the videos are always interesting!
Nice job Clearing things out and Leaving the Large Rock. 👍
Great video as always, Post. Very satisfying culvert

This was an amazingly great video. Wonderful nature walk. I appreciate your insight. Thanks again for your content. I hope you get rain soon.
I am a new subscriber. Columbus OH. Thank you for not only what you do but the way you do it... Hella good dude
these videos are calming
CBUS as well, love this channel.
Your face when the twigs kept falling down you could see you was fuming 🤣 amazing job as always much love and respect from Liverpool UK x
He probably doesn’t have a clue what fuming means 😂
Remembered the burbing pipe at once when I saw where you were. That is a really low water level in the river compared to your previous videos from that area. The small fish can allways swim to the river from the culvert, hope they do. It was nice summer day here too, about 24 Celsius but it was cold and rainy few days only 14 C but it was good to have some water in the forests, billberries need the water right now, it is almost time to go and pick some.
So nice to see a big unclogging again! 😊
This culvert satisfies me.
I love it when you take us on a walk🤗👍
Nice to see a video where you have an opportunity to get out ahead of a problem instead of dealing with the aftermath of one.
We love watching your videos and commentary! Thank you.
i love watching your videos. while I have no knowledge of drains be it on the street or in a lake the way you explain in such great detail makes me feel like I can now go and unclog something. i love how you take care of your community
Very interesting to see follow-up videos on spots you visited previously. Keep up with the good work!
Great Video Post! I love your content!
Great video! You know so much of nature. Its always a plesure to watch. Respect from the Netherlands!
Thanks for going back to my favorite place. Such a drastic change from your last visit and playing with huge chunks of ice!
You find the most interesting and beautiful areas to film. Thanks for taking us along!
It’s at time like these you wander “why am I watching a guy clean a drain”. All jokes aside your content is very interesting
I love your videos bc they are informative and the scenery there is beautiful !! Keep up the good work !
I love it when you say "these beavers mean business" such a fun, educational and entertaining Channel!
There may be a lot of nutrients coming out of the lower culvert, feeding the fish.
Plus it is rather bird-proof in there.
Thanks again for an interesting video. Sorry to hear about your pine trees suffering. Best Wishes Pete/
Awesome video
Interesting hike and clearance of a culvert and just to revisit previous areas is great .
Well done.
I love that you do this. Wholesome, simple way to help communities. Please keep it coming!
Great video! Clearing sticks out of the river-intake, the fish swimming in the pipe, 🐢, morning glory, beautiful trees, hill, and low-river stones! 👍
That is one big clog. At first I thought beavers had done it. What a cute little turtle and fish too. Neat and stay safe.
Lets go!
You do such good work and you are an inspiration to others to do what you do. When I see the way you are so careful to leave things the same way you found them, or BETTER, I think the main thing you do is that you take care of our planet.
Wild black-eyed Susans. 👍🏻
Japanese Knotweed is a blight here in Scotland too.
Love your videos. Many thanks.
Two videos in one day NICE
I love your videos, they are comforting and I always learn something new
Love what you do, your videos are interesting and informative
Well well well if it's not post 10....
..the brother of Malone.
Great vids brother 👍. Thoroughly enjoy them.
I love this type of scenery...i grew up in an area that had lots of beauty like this but now alot of it has suffered from population growth and housing/commercial property popping up seemingly over night...so sad! thank you for taking us with you on your adventures, Post 10 ❤
What a beautiful area, thanks for sharing that
So so beautiful there at the lakeside!
I knew u sounded familiar. Lol I’ve been watching ur other channel when open old tins and this channel came up on my recommended. Love them
Thank you for the video. I was just thinking about this area the other day, its one of my favorites. 😎❤
I don’t know why I’m fascinated by your videos. Maybe because I sorta wish I was in your shoes. You’re a blessing to nature and maybe you would say nature has been a blessing to you.
I always like to hear the call of Post 10!
Thanks for the return visit.
Great video.
Thanks Post!
👍👍👍👊😎
Enjoyed the video, beautiful place for nature trail ,river must be beautiful when it is higher level.keep doing what your doing and carry on 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Lot of nice scenery around you bud,
Hi Post. Some of those tosses were great. You had good form. Like you were throwing three pointers. “Swish”.

This guy beat life and now he’s just been doing all the side quests
Great job, thanks a lot Post10!
wow that place really looks nice when there is zero snow. 😎😎👍👍
These are the most satisfying videos.
Thanks for another fab video, so many shades of green.
I hope it rains soon
Very nice weather you got on this trip too. Probably good you had a breeze, since it is looks like it could have been hot otherwise. I was so sleepy when I started watching, I almost thought that your initial description of the path the water follows past the ditch leads back to where it started... 😂😂
Thanks for writing temperature in celcius!
And thanks for uploading the video!
Nice beaver cap! I really appreciate the nature walk. The river looks like the one you camped on in the winter.
At the DOT:
Hey Jack. should we unclog that lake drain?
Nah.. wait a few days and Post 10 will take care of it.
66 in July? My friend come to South Louisiana in July lol. Great vid as always, thanks for sharing your work with everyone!
what an interesting video , thanks post .
In 2021, I visited my local state park. I took pictures of several water areas every month. Each month I watched it dry up. It was all most dry in August. All because it didn't rain between May and August.
i am very happy share your videos..4 seasons country...tq
Another fantastic video , beautiful scenery. I live in the UK and wonder what happens to the turtles when the rivers freeze ?
the turtles can survive if the sea/lake freezes up, they can swim a while and they can notice holes in the ice or small air pockets and remember them /they know where they are. However if a river /lake freezes with a thick ice cap like this one does they basicaly dead right ahead. reason for this is they can live in freezing temps but after a certain temp the lower part freezes and with it their organs. its a tad sad but thats the circle of life and the fishes in the lake get something to eat after starving like a month or two if it melts
The turtles go into hibernation (actually brumation, but close enough). They would be under the ice and may be buried in the mud at the bottom.
@@bobh6728 thankyou for explaining, I'm glad I'm not a turtle, it sounds grim for them 🥺
@@HousrastenOfficial nature can be very cruel. 🥺
@@bobh6728 hibernate is not quite correct although it has to be said that it is a mild form of it, there are some like the one shown in the video that my answer is related to, others do it exactly as you wrote
I love how u looked at the camera and then immediately moved it lol... Keep the vids comin! 🙂👍
I showed my mom a picture of you. She said we look alike
This is the go to channel for clean heart warming content without bullshit. Also good for ASMR
Thank you post10. (in swedish that would be called "posten", and is now days named postnord. The big difference is that you deliver. ;)
But my country postman always deliver the goods, but they got a lot of complaints here in the north for not delivering in time or at all.
Best regards from Sweden

I love how, after a few sticks, one at a time, his thinking is “ let’s take as many as possible “
Great job again!
Its rained here in SE CT 1 good duration of rain fall, another rain fall that watered the plants around my house and last night for 20 minutes or less in the last 3 months. Crazy how dry its been.

Howdy. You were talking about trash racks a while back. Umm, kinda like a debris catcher?
look what i found.
Trash Racks
Trash racks are installed on the upstream face of the power intake to prevent large debris from entering the water conveyance and causing an obstruction in the turbines. The spacing of the trash rack bars is normally specified by the turbine manufacturer.
The primary bars of the rack are oriented vertically, and the whole rack is inclined at 8° to 15° to help the cleaning equipment.
Manual trash rack cleaning may be adequate for small intakes. In that case, a platforms may be provided for safe access to the face of the intake. For larger intakes, permanent mechanical rakes are installed if the debris load justifies their cost. If not, the intake gates may be closed while the racks are cleaned with a rake on a mobile crane.
In rare circumstances, divers are used to clean the racks. This is an extremely hazardous operation, because intake gate leakage can cause enough flow velocity at the face of the rack to trap divers.
10 y/o me just found it's dream job. Very nice content
Yay you got gloves on!
Wow very low . We need rain ,way to dry. Love your video. ✌
Thanks for the update
Another great job tackled
Thank you post 10 from England x
