Good video big dog! Im working on a 69 ford fairlane 500 in San Diego. I lost the video I made, taking my bumper apart and this saved me!

Nice Video. We just replaced the same bumper on our 1968 Cyclone. By the way, the big spring washers go between the bumper and the bracket. You had me second guessing but I verified it with the assembly manual.

Thank you! Glad you liked it, hey cool car, you don’t see those cars anymore either.
Oh ok, thanks for the info, I didn’t get any manual with mine so I had to figure it out as I went lol.
      Thanks for watching.

hey man I know its kinda random but i got and a new camshaft for my amc 304 v8. its a pretty mild cam but im trying to figure out the best timing for it and rpm at idle to make it sound aggressive and perform well. I know you have a lot of knowledge on this stuff which is why im asking. Its the edelbrock 2132 camshaft if you wanna see the specs. If you could help me i would appreciate it a lot. thanks

No problem at all bud, really it’s kind of a test it and tune see how it works kinda thing ya know. See where it idles best at in drive if it’s an automatic, and you have to adjust the idle whenever you adjust the timing. So idk what the factory set timing is on the amc motors but after you install the cam and get it running for break in, I’d set it for factory specs. After you’ve ran it and it’s broken in as it needs, then I’d play around with the timing. Bump it up a couple degrees and see how it runs. Make sure it doesn’t spark knock because you could break a piston. You also don’t want the timing too high anyway because it could melt a piston. So really I probably wouldn’t go no more than 4-6 more advanced than factory spec just to be safe if you’re not sure. Usually you want your idle somewhere between 800 to 1000 in neutral and 600 to 800 in drive if an automatic, and again these are ball park numbers, yours could very but that’s where I’d start. For example, on my ford 302 in my 68 fairlane, it’s set at 800 rpm’s at idle in neutral, and I keep the timing between 10-12 degrees advanced. The factory setting on that 302 was 6 degrees back in the day. My 1976 ford truck is set at about 600 rpm’s at idle in drive with the timing set the same, between 10-12 degrees and the factory spec on it was 8 degrees, so that’s why I say you have to test and tune to get it where you need it. Not to mention the setting of your air fuel ratio on the carb if you’re running a carb. If you’re running EFI then it should automatically adjust for you on that. Hope this helps out or at least gives you an idea, good luck on your build and thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching.

@@FastFords289 thanks bro much appreciated. I have a Holley 4 barrel carb and I think I have the timing at 5 advanced which is the factory setting. The car likes to idle in neutral at about 1100 rpm and in gear at around 950-1000. It seems kinda high but when I turn the idle down on the carb the engine wants to die. Idk if it could be because of the camshaft profile, I know some cams require the engine to idle higher in order to make enough power to move the car. Thanks for the advice I didn’t know how severe messing up timing could be. The cam is still somewhat breaking in, I’ve drove it maybe 350 miles so I’ll have to adjust the timing again soon. But I’ll figure it out.

@@aaronhatfield4582 you’re very welcome, very nice carb, that all I run is Holley or motorcraft. I got the quick fuel on my fairlane which is built by Holley and it works great.
Yeah that seems a bit high, that would be a big cam that would need that high of an idle. You sure you got the carb air fuel screws set right, and your float level set properly? Perhaps you could have a vacuum leak which would cause it to die as well especially with a cam, everything is more sensitive when running a cam.
