HOW TO RESTORE AN ANTIQUE TRACTOR / BUDGET TRACTOR RESTORATION

- Here we do a budget restoration on a Ford 861 Powermaster Diesel tractor. We will clean paint and replace a few parts and get this build out the door. Paints used were Nason Ful-Cryl enamel and Magic brand from Tractor Supply Company. We sprayed them with a Devilbiss GPG spraygun with a 1.6 tip. Several replacement parts came from Steiner Tractor. We were able to find the decals on Ebay. These are some of the most popular tractors for today's homesteads.

Looks good
Thank ya Sir!
I grew up on a 881. My uncle had the first 4000 with the 5 speed like this. The 801 diesel was a powerful tractor. We used it raising tobacco, soybeans and rising beef. Besides a Farmall Cub to cultivate with this was all we needed.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
I have a 1958, my age. Still alive - both of us! ❤
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Looks great
Thank you!
nice
Thank ya!
Nice job, I'm doing the same thing to a 1952 8n with a Funk conversion 6 cylinder and Sherman step up & step down transmission. Thank you for the video, it will help me out with my project.
Thank you and you are welcome! Good luck!
Radiator should be black and air cleaner gray.
I wondered about that. I looked at lots of pictures and finally just went for it.
@@genuinejake9851 No harm done, its only paint.
I thought air cleaner is installed under the hood?
Air cleaner is external and gray. Tube from it to intake is body color.
How much does a job like this cost to have done?
Thats tough to answer. With product prices at all time highs and climbing the largest cost can be materials at times. I would just say in the $2000 range for a ballpark
the more I watch these videos the less I like Steiner tractor. always seems somebody gets a part that does not fir right or something is not included in a kit they order. and I have watched quite a number of these videos where that has happened in almost all of them. they should get their act together.
Well.... I will say this. In all of my projects which range from trucks to tractors to motorcycles, there are always minor to major issues with reproduction parts. Steiner to my "limited " knowledge doesn't manufacture parts but only sells them. I can say their service was outstanding and I would definitely recommend them.
Me too...I have restored around 10 JD 2 cylinder tractors and have never had a mistake on my Steiner orders that was not my fault!
