    I came in to this assuming that “restoring gauges” meant going to Tractor Supply and buying new gauges, but, nope, he’s actually restoring original Ford tractor gauges. Maybe I’ll take another look at my original broken gauges now.

      Thanks. I try to use as many original parts as I can. I did purchase an original proofmeter but haven't worked on it any. Might have video on it one of these days.

    What specific paint did you use to paint the dash? The finish is excellent and I really like the color.

    Just started restoring my Great Grandfather's 1959 601 Workmaster Diesel, while not the same as yours, it's very close and this has been very helpful.
    Quick questions: Did you end up painting that panel yourself? If so can you recommend the paint your use? Additionally, if so, did you use an enamel hardener?
    Thanks!

      Yes I painted the panel. I used the gray from New holland for the 8n tractors, think they have it listed as 39-62, then added some majic hardener and a little xylol thinner to help it lay down smooth.

      Great content!.. I have a gauge from 53 Jub that i took apart. oil passes through the plunger, have you had experience with this? Any ideas how to seal it.

    Have you considered doing gauge restoration as a mail order business where folks mail you there gauges and then you restore and mail back?

    Fascinating. Do you do your own plating or farm it out?

      I do it myself. I purchased a kit from Caswell Planting Inc. and have learned how to do it. Took a lot of practice to get it right. I sent out parts 10 years ago for my 861-D and it was minimum of $50 for clear zinc and $55 for yellow. I figured I'd be doing a lot more on this tractor so I got the kit.

    If I am trying to locate someone to do the re-plating, what do I search for (Zinc, ......) and if I find someone, will they do a job that small of just three little gauge cases?

    • @chickenhousemechanic
      @chickenhousemechanic  Місяць тому

      Zinc plating or electroplating is what to search for. Some shops should do them. Back when I did the 861 I sent some parts out to be clear and yellow zinc plated. That was 14 years ago and they charged me their minimum prices which were $50 and $55 respectively.

    Where can i find those plugs for the instrument panel?

      My local hardware store had some. I also ordered some from ebay and McMaster-Carr. Only downside to those two is you have to buy a lot of them.

    Bro . Pl. What is the measurement of Ford tractor pressure gaze (meter)
    As psi, bar or kg/cm
    How many psi when pressure meter show 90 degree

    • @chickenhousemechanic
      @chickenhousemechanic  Рік тому

      Not really sure what you're asking. Oil pressure will vary depending on weight of oil used, engine temperature, and ambient air temperature.
