TRAILER TONGUE CATASTROPHE!
The tongue broke on our trailer while towing. So we will replace it with a Reese A frame coupler. We will also use the Harbor Freight 2,000lb A-frame trailer jack. The Daytona 3 ton low-profile jack comes in handy on this one!

RAISE YOUR BED FLOOR ON A SQUAREBODY 73-87
Переглядів 4,8 тис.Рік тому
Raising the bedfloor of a 1983 Chevy / GMC square body isn't all that hard to do. We are cutting 7" out of our bedsides and front bed panel to raise the floor enough to clear a new four link setup and either airbag suspension or coil overs. I have not decided on that just yet. There's some cutting, welding and grinding with a little head scratching mixed in to this square body mod. Lets get to ...

SQUAREBODY FUEL CELL

Relocating the fuel cell on a 73-87 Chevy. Didn't go as expected. Maybe we should have bought a Boyd's Fuel cell?? In the end we decided to raise the bed floor to better conceal the fuel cell and allow additional clearance for a larger c notch and a four link suspension either on airbags or coilovers. That's to be determined. Either way this c 10 build is one you don't want to miss! #squarebody...

      @@genuinejake9851 You bet. I hate to see people with crap trailers. The Huttarian Colonies of Western Canada only buy the best and toughest of equipment. They buy Mustang. Ag Expo at Lethbridge Exhibition has models on display every March. Don the owner is there every day. The wiring is all internal and properly tied into the breaks so no wire is exposed, let alone hanging looking for trouble. I saw one last week someone said was 13 years old and looked brand new. I've also seen every person who ever kept one long enough to come back for a 25 year service buy a new one because once the old one is given the once over and sold used the used price is so high they don't mind tossing in a bit more for a new unit. It's a win win for both buyer's. Waiting list is months long unfortunately but some dealers have them. Check them out on line. You will not find a tougher, better built trailer. Horse, cargo, flat deck, Oil patch pipe units, specialty cooler units, Safety shower units. what ever you need they can build. What they build will last a lifetime. They guarantee it. Cool eh?!

    The torque doesn't mean all that much on those. I have never had a problem with any of mine, and I run them.down witha 3/8 impact. Now on my drag car is more important,,being it runs 170 plus mph

    • @genuinejake9851
      @genuinejake9851 3 місяці тому

      I would venture the torque spec is simply more of a max torque to protect against pulling the threads or snapping bolts. Not everyone knows when to say when.

    • @genuinejake9851

      Well I would say there's more than one way to skin a cat. I would think it would just depend on the situation. I was worried that I might have trouble getting the correct shape back if I just patched the sunroof. Im sure there are people way more capable of pulling that off than me. I knew i could minimize the warpage from the welding by taking the route I went.

    Do u have spacers on the back?

    • @genuinejake9851
      @genuinejake9851 5 місяців тому

      No I dont. I did consider that because of the different track width front/back. Its more noticeable when these trucks have combos that sit flush with the front fender lip because the back then sits inside the fender and it sticks out like a sore thumb. With this offset (or any) that puts both front and rear outside the fenders its not AS noticeable and looks fine. But you could definitely add the rear spacers to make them exactly match the front if you wanted to.
