    Fun fact since it isn’t made clear by any of the cutscenes, the Traveller had effectively been in a coma ever since the Collapse ages ago, and only after the death of Heart in the Black Garden did it start to heal. The cutscene where it destroys Ghaul is when the Traveller finally reawakened once again after thousands of years.

    Since it doesn't look like it was answered already, (and after double checking cuz I couldn't quite remember) the cage on the Traveler was what blocked the Ghosts from its Light, so once the cage was broken, any surviving Ghost/Guardian pairs had their Light back.

    So, fun fact about Ghaul's final monologue before you fight him. "Become Legend" was the original tag line for Destiny 1. It was like that was our job as Guardians way back when - succeed where others had failed and make ourselves into the kinds of heroes that would be immortalized in song.
    When Ghaul was listing off his accomplishments, I was just like "yeah sure, we've killed gods before, you ain't special".
    "I. AM. GHAUL..."
    Meh.
    "... and I have Become Legend."
    ... oh it is ON.

    The person recording this recorded the red war (first campaign in D2) right before it was vaulted to make space for future DLC. During season of arrivals, the pyramid ships arrived. That's why they are there in cut scenes.

  • @dapoiboi8360
    @dapoiboi8360 9 місяців тому +23

    Yeah the pyramide ship that was already there is because this was recorded during the season of arrival, when you saw them at the end of the red war its the first time we see them

    Emperor Calus' ship is called the Leviathan and it's a ship that eats planets and processes their resources to turn them into "Royal Nectar".
    Calus was name dropped once during one of the first Ghaul cutscenes, it's normal not to have noticed.
    The Calus we fight on the Raid it's just one of many robot-versions of himself (not Vex tech, just a regular robot) he has stored, but the real him is the one speaking through them.

    Okay since a few things came up afteri postedmy original comment:
    Yes that dude is Hella overgeared since he did the stuff again just to capture these things
    Second: no code, emperor calus literally turns planets into wine and drinks them
    Third: that giant ship was the leviathan, a giant planet eating starship that used to be essentially a pleasure yacht that is now home to the exited cabal emporer and home to the first raid of destiny 1
    Fourth: not a vex, just a robot replica

    Something not in any of these compilations are the subclass missions where we recover our arc, solar, and void subclasses. Contains some pretty cool back stories and context for the vanguard members.

    That actually is the Guardian creed. Devotion inspires bravery. Bravery inspires sacrifice. Sacrifice leads to death. The last part is unspoken though, for obvious reasons.

    Low-key, the Speaker telling Ghaul to off himself was one of the best moments of the franchise to me. The dude was straight-up laying down the memes on behalf of humanity until his last moments. Wasted Ghaul's time, lied to him, insulted him and distracted him. A real G. Did what little he could and it turned out to be a lot. Plus.... just so funny. xD

    VEX milk from destiny to first add 3oz of coconut rum, then 3oz of pina colada mix. Next add one oz of vanilla syrup. Add in 5 drops of lime juice and some ice, add milk, blend the mixture, then serve.

    The deal with Emperor Calus is, well, complicated. He’s the emperor Ghaul and the Consul (his mentor) deposed. Since he was too popular for them to outright kill, Calus and his loyalists were exiled aboard the Leviathan, the gilded ship the clips from the raid take place on. The ship was on a locked course with Calus unable to access the controls until the ship stalled out when it came upon an expanse of nothingness. There, Calus encountered something that granted him a “vision of the end” and was afterward able to retake control of the ship. The robot you meet on said ship is an automoton Calus made to interact with others, as apparently few have seen him truly in person after the revelation given to him by his encounter with the void. What exactly he met in the darkness of space is a mystery you’ll figure out as you continue with Destiny’s story.
    If you’re interested in learning more about Calus without spoiling yourself, I’d recommend looking up the weapons and armor from the Leviathan raid you saw snippets of, which all have associated lore. Be careful though, or have a friend pull up the items for you, as at this point it’d be very easy to get spoiled.

    The Traveler took until the very end to act as a last resort because expelling that kind of power would light a beacon to its enemies, revealing its location across the universe in the process.

    • @terabellum
      @terabellum  9 місяців тому +2

  • @realfake6669
    @realfake6669 5 місяців тому

    Really cool fun fact!
    The Red War end cutscene with the traveler's light going through the universe is not random!
    It starts with Earth (because that's where the Traveler is and the main event happens, Vanilla D2), then it goes to Mercury (that's where the first DLC takes place, Curse of Osiris), then it goes to Mars (where the second DLC takes place, Warmind), then it goes to the Reef (where the third DLC takes place, Forsaken), then it goes to Saturn/Oryx Dreadnaught (you could say our past, which would fit with Shadowkeep) then it goes through space (which could be considered the next journey, Beyond Light), then it goes through space again (our next journey, Witch Queen) and finally it arrives on the pyramid ships (which is the beginning of the end, Lightfall)
    Bungie has thought so far ahead

      @@terabellum curse of Osiris is short so you'll get to the major seasons soon. It's kind of hard to really feel the growth year to year without having been in it from more or less the beginning. A ton of content vaulting in general is the fact that most modern games are base 80gb+ just from new content. That and the newer engine didn't support old content on beyond lights launch though they might be able to do it now with the key moments thing in the timeline badge in the upper right corner of the map.

    Here’s some background info that had the misfortune of being confined to lore cards up to this point:
    We knew from the Hive that the powers of Darkness must be taken - Oryx quite literally had to kill a god to claim the power to Take his enemies. If the Light contrasts the Dark, then the Light should be gifted, rather than taken. If that is the case, then that’s why the Traveler only acted at that point: Ghaul had stolen the Light.

    • @northwolfpetal
      @northwolfpetal 9 місяців тому

      That, and it seems to have been a last resort. The Traveler likely counted on the Guardian being able to face and take down Ghaul until there was no other option but to intervene directly... and thus revealing its presence to the enemy

    I still prefer the “Gamers little playground” version it is a bit more cinematic and I do wish someone had the adventures and things separately because it is nice information to have but they beat the bosses way to quickly and easily it sort of takes you out of things and seeing the pyramids in the skybox gets confusing. This version even cuts dialogue because they are beating things way too quickly. You never really see Ghaul using any of his powers.

    i really am glad that you are reacting to destiny videos as i know they dont get nearly as many views as you other videos so thank you very much. also i wanted to point out that the player here is very overgeard for this BUT the campaigns back then were very easy and the bosses were so weak but so so cool. the campaigns now are SUPER hard and even have legendary mode!

    Per lore, vex milk is salty. It's also filled with nanomachines that *are* the Vex. (Yeah, white salty fluid filled with tiny living things. Make of that what you will.) The "vex" robots you see are basically exo-suits for the fluid, which is why the critical weak point on the robots are the white fluid tank instead of the head like on most targets. As a further twist, all the vex robots we see are built for construction and mining work, not military robots. The Vex Minds are something different, tho. Think more highly advanced AI populated by the high end of the Vex proper.

    • @gstugard
      @gstugard 9 місяців тому +2

      Other fun vex facts. Vex milk is used in the winter holiday to make cookies. It's also both radioactive and electrically charged. Drinking it could kill you, but Guardians can just die and resurrect so no big deal. On the other hand, vex milk can turn you into a vex, which is a bit more problematic. You've seen two cases of this already. On Io where you found Ikora the annoyed scientist that you had to deal with, Asher Mir, is a Guardian who was infected. His right arm is a vex construct and its slowly transforming him into a vex. The second time was on Nessus. The blue eyed harpy that leads you to Failsafe's former captain *is* the remnant of said captain that had been vexified.

    Hawthorne is one of the most underrated characters in Destiny. I wish we got more of her. There's lore describing how the factions (specifically New Monarchy) dislike her immensely. As a child she was orphaned, so Devrim Kay and his partner Marc looked out for her. Eventually she had a confrontation with the leader of New Monarchy - she punched him in the face - and the price for that was exile from the city, something she'd already been thinking about. She's always felt separate from the guardians, like they didn't understand what they protect, and that she didn't belong in the City. Fast forward a few years, and you get lore of Zavala and Hawthorne participating in guardian games together for the Titans. It's a very beautiful development.

    so yeah there are some continuity errors because destiny doesn't really instance it's world spaces to story progression, the end of base D2 is the first time we actually see the pyramid fleet, in the original story that ship over io wasn't there

    The reason the Traveler "waited" that long to go against Ghaul, is because it was healing ever since we destroyed the Heart of the Black Garden. Each subsequent victory we had - Atheon in the Vault of Glass, Crota, Oryx in the Taken King, Aksis and SIVA in Rise of Iron, and everything else we've done struck back at the "Minions of the Darkness" as Bungie put them, either gave strength to the Traveler, or reduced the "interference" by the Darkness, so the Traveler finally had a chance to fight back.
