- I complete this McDermott EK1 pool cue restoration. Check out episode 1 for the back story. This thing was supposed to be a flip but I think I’m going to keep it. It turned out so good!

You do very nice work. I enjoyed watching.
Awesome! Thanks. Should I do that Meucci or Heubler next?
@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 Heubler gets my vote.
Great Job as always 😁Enjoy the videos
Thanks appreciate it!
Great work!
Thanks!
Dear friend. I think It's finally after searching several videos. I finally managed to find it and that video is yours.
I have to tried to find a craft lathe similar to yours and I haven't had any luck 😔 finding it yet, until I was able to watch your video. You have no idea how happy I was to see yours. If it's not idiscretion on my part, I could know where you got it. So I can get one just like yours, because I want to repair some of my pool sticks. I will be more than grateful if you could share this information. Thanks, Alex.
Sure thing. This is a Cuesmith Mid-Size from Cueman.com
There’s also a slightly cheaper repair lathe from mid-America lathes.
Great job! I have an EK4 since new, and is still in mint condition!
Very nice!
I have Ek5 mint 2shafts.
Using that much water on wood will come back to haunt you at some point.. I was working with a really nice clear coated piece of wood once and decided to wet sand it as well. I was unlucky and the water found a crack to get to the wood .. The wood swelled and cracked the finish. Was a lot more work redoing the entire thing rather then avoiding water in the first place.. Wet sanding is fine for automotive work not really for wood :).
Thanks for the input. The person I learned from did it this way, he also used a good amount of water for linen wraps too. Not sure why he didn’t mention it. Was the wood you used dry and stable?
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Lott's of sanding great work..❤you shoot good too.
Thank you!
For sure the one with the “small dent” in mint condition!
Okay the meucci is now up 4-3 votes. 🤞🏼
I'm not going to tell you to clean but I am going to request more videos 😂. My Mid Size Cue Smith will be here in a couple of days! I'm going to start on some super cheap cues I have then work my way up.
Thanks and on it!
Please show us how you stain the birdseye maple, preventing it from getting into veneers, and to make the figure pop
Thanks for watching. I just stained an old Predator that I WISH I would have made a video out of!
New subscriber, video is sooooo soothing lol
Thanks and yeah I think I’m gunna do more videos where I just shut up lol
@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 commentary is fine bro, cool watching the process
Question: Have a short side on my home table and need a shorty butt. Have a ton of uni loc shafts but the shorty cues I see aren’t uni loc. Would it be possible to have an 18” butt made with uni loc joint?
Yeah 100% I could weight it and make it a larger diameter to feel like a standard cue
Do you remember the late 80's early 90's McDermott cues that had artistic paintings on them? Would love to see one being refinished! Have you ever done one before? Just curious!?
Haven’t done one. But loved those!
@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654 I always wanted the one that had the saloon and cowboy. Mueller sold them!
Please make sure to advert watchers to NEVER let sandpaper overlap while sanding by hand as you’ve done. You’re used to and know how far to go, new people won’t! That was my first AND ONLY Acident I had while using a lathe. Great video.
Thank you!
If you don’t mind what lathe is this
@@steverohlinger656 looks like a cue smith cue lathe
i take that back. looks like (2) CUE SMITHIS . the first one he uses for the linen wrap appears to be a midi cue smith, and the one hes doing the shaftwork looks like a deluxe cue smith
My buddy has the EK1 (beat to rat shit by him), I have the EK 6 and had it re stained/wrapped to a rosewood finish by McDermott directly. Awesome cue.
Nice! Awesome era of cues
I have an Ek5 mint condition 3 shafts one never used and predator precast 314 out of 10 I'd rate it 9.5
Good afternoon, sir. I have an old Moli (early to mid 70's based on my research. Green letters w/ box). I am wondering what you would charge to restore it. It's all original, except for the tip and bumper, and the clear is starting to really flake off (part of the lattering too). Can you also redo the label? Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can share.
I should also mention it is very straight and shoots well. I just want to preserve it for many more years of play. Thanks.
It has no inlays or wrap. Very basic.
Do you have Facebook by chance? Or you can email me pictures. Dmullyjr@yahoo.com
Do you have a video of you adding the clear before wet sanding I've looked all over and can't seem to find it thanks
I don’t, might do one in the future
@@mulhollenbilliardschannel654need those
At 14:57, you pretty lucky your day wasn’t ruined leaning over the chuck like that.
I’m 6’2” and I don’t get very close luckily
If you don’t mind, which brand/model is your lathe? It’s pretty powerful! Me like it!
I had 2 lathes in this video. A Cuesmith mid size and a cuesmith deluxe.
Do the black ferrule next!
That makes the vote tied believe it or not!
Wont the water get into the cue? If so when it dries will it warp?
No, you heat it up so much with the linen tool it all steams off
Eu gostei desse taco
Unfortunately it’s not giving me the translate option
What about the wobble? What was it? How did you fix it?
I think I talked about it in the one video. But I refaced the joint. Which means I straightened the shaft and butt so the joint lined up again
Nice work! It's that starbond med CA you're using for the finish?
Yes works very well. 3 coats of starbond thin first.
I knew it! 😂. I'm about to do the same thing this weekend on an old Mezz break cue. I like your method. Thanks for sharing!
what clear coat did you use?
CA Glue. Thanks
The red one work on the red one next.
Wow that actually ties up the vote at 4-4!
Any way to connect you other than Facebook? I have an old Lucasi I might be interested in cleaning up.
Yes absolutely! Just look up DMIII Custom Cues and Pro Shop
McDermotts are like Sasquatch. You here a lot about em but you never see any anymore. Specially that one…. One of the nicest on Oiath as Fatty would say
Lol
Now try and find a early 70s high end palmer neit to impossible.
No breathing APP
I don’t wear it during wet sanding. And it’s rare I don’t wear it during shaft clearing. I have a full face now that I was wearing last night!
can i have one .. for free for xmas sir ...
lol I’m giving a cue away on my next live to a subscriber actually
Clean your work area, I want to focus on your craftsmanship efforts, not the mess I see all over the place!
lol you can come clean it. Just joking, I’d love to have more time to clean but I work full time job, do table repair on the side, do cue making and repair on the side and I also have UA-cam. Not to mention a wife and kids. There’s just no time, so I clean it with my young daughter Saturday mornings. Which is why it’s clean in some videos lol.
How much you charge for refinish?
Depends on what wrap you need and how bad it is.
