While I (a Nets fan) agree that it's ultimately the fault of a lot of people, I really struggle to place primary blame on anyone but Kyrie. You can't build a championship roster around a second option with the ego of a superstar and the reliability of a benchwarmer. Also, I haven't given up on Simmons yet. He had the same back surgery as MPJ and he said that he didn't feel like his old self until 18 months after. I think some of his struggles look more like a guy who isn't healthy rather than a guy who for has inexplicably changed into a new player. Looking back, I didn’t fully appreciate James being there as a Net as I thought he was being lazy coming into the 21-22 season. Turns out the Nets put him on a position to look crazy or lazy for… whatever reason… and it was fucked up how they treated him. If the nets would have let him come into the season fully healthy and I’m shape then things could be different and also for Kyrie…. Yea man… not much to say about him
I will say this to the end of time the nets got too greedy and listened to their stars WAY TOO much, rather than just built around KD and Kyrie with a deeper bench they listened to KD and traded all their depth for Harden, listening to KD and Kyrie to fire Atkinson for Nash wasn’t a good move either. KD and Kyrie around a great supporting cast and bench and great coaching would’ve yielded at least 1 championship
Exactly. This team failed when they decided to listen to kd and trade away their potential dynasty of a roster with kd Kyrie Jarrett Allen and a great supporting cast for an out of shape James harden
Kyrie Irving seems to think ability as a pro athlete automatically translates across the board and that once you’ve become a great player no further work is needed.
ISO GANG!!! 3 superstars that were tired of feeling like second fiddles, yet who lacked the mentality to be the leader their teams expected them to be. That’s the difference between being a leading scorer for your team and being the team captain. Unlucky injuries aside - no championship trophies are being won by teams whose key players don’t want to try, believes team/state rules don’t apply to him, and is ready to leave the moment things don’t go his way…and the franchise blew itself up just to land & appease an injured KD in the first place!
As a Nets fan, I remember when the Big 3 was first formed. I was excited, but at the same time, I was thinking "We better win it all this season." Even then I knew that it just wouldn't work out long-term.
Harden was playing Chess. His entire plan was to get to Philly. He knew Houston wasn't going to trade him to Philly though so there had to be a "pit stop team".. that's where the Nets come in. Harden was never going to stay. And who can blame him?.. Kyrie is the most unreliable teammate anyone could ever have. I wouldn't want to rely on Kyrie to split a bill at a fast food restaurant, let alone rely on him as a teammate in a professional game.
imo it was doomed from the start. Nash was a first time HC and wasn’t good enough to coach a regular team let alone a superteam. KD being injury prone combined with Kyrie being Kyrie they were never going to be on the court long enough to have chemistry with the rest of the team for a deep playoff run
For the most part these hastily assembled “super teams” don’t work. It worked for the Heat although it can be argued they should have won more than 2 titles. Aside from that, the teams with the most success over the last 10 years were teams mostly built through the draft.
I've been here since your Jimmy exposing the Media vid, and let's just say you never disappoint. Watching you upload is like a treat, get this man to a million subs.
I honestly believe that Kyrie's decision to not get a shot was the most detrimental factor as to why the Nets super team failed, that and the vast amount of injuries that haunted them.
If Kyrie wasn’t such a selfish dick about getting the vaccine that teams stays together. James Harden sees that team is taking itself seriously signs an extension and doesn’t request a trade from clown town. They keep the big 3 and perhaps have more cracks at getting a title. Instead Kyrie sabatoges the team, Harden leaves in disgust and ring chases with Embiid, KD fucks off after seeing the shell of Ben Simmons, and Kyrie fucks off to go ruin the Mavs.
@fieldmarshalp9456 agreed... i mean kd almost got them to the finals if it wasnt for that infamous inch while kyrie, harden (joe harris too if i remember right) were out ... i really think that would have been their year if not for the injuries
As a kyrie fan I’m not happy for the decisions he made I like the Nets and I feel like if they would have never traded for Harden that 2019 team would be so dangerous he would have won a ring
Nah. He's mad f you money. He doesn't care and good for him. Just don't ever say anything about joos and you'll be OK. Kayne and Kyrie found out first hand
Kyrke and durant are well known to be hard to coach. Kyrie wants to play his own way and durant left golden state because he didn’t wanna give up his ego for the team.
They would have been better if they had simply not signed KD & Kyrie, kept D-Lo, and tried to get KAT or Booker Would of still have Allen, LeVert & Dinwiddie Let's hope the Claxton & Bridgers & Thomas can come good
Kevin Durant could have saved his legacy by staying in Brooklyn after Kyrie got traded to the Mavs by showing that he wouldn't leave when the going gets tough

You must be a young guy.Magic most definitely got rid of Paul Westhead. No doubt about it.Magic was probably the first guy to actually jettison a coach. It wasn't a big deal then and that was over 40 years ago.Nobody pays to see the coach. Its a players League.Coaches still have authority though but players have to buy in to their system or else the coach is out the door.Oh and the players liked Pat Riley who was assistant coach with the Lakers at the time that's how Riley got the Lakers job.
@@mikeedwards9984 🤣 signing Kyrie & trying to build a bs superteam was the worst move lol

Mikel Bridges going to become KD 2.0 mark my words
@@khalmasonart i love mikal and i agree i see glimpses of KD in his scoring style but imo we need more playmaking/rebounding from him

Man. Much respect to LeBron. It's not easy making winning teams..super team or not.
Lebron could break any records, but the most impressive feat he had done is taming and winning with Qyrie.

@@Raphmatic5000 fr i don’t even like the nets but like kyrie a bitch for doing harden like he did
He had no other choice his extension was contingent on him winning a championship. I have never heard of any team asking such a thing. If he would have waited until the off-season there would have not been any good teams with enough cap space to sign him. So he had to roll the dice.
Mad props to Harden for going out there injured to try and help Brooklyn win I can’t imagine how much discomfort he was in
My man u got it wrong. If u are injured and can't help the team, you take yourself out of the game and root as hard as u can for your replacement. He might actually have cost the Nets the series.Harden should have sat his butt down and let Mike James play. What game were u watching?
@@ralphgreenwood2469 bringing back harden for game 7 with that hamstring was a questionable move similar thing the warriors did with Kd in 2019 rushing him back for game 5 of the finals just to injure his ACL
@@tj5180 Good point, the difference tho was KD didn't stink up the joint.Harden did.He played horribly both offense and defense.Since it ended up being a two or three point game Hardens ineptitude turned out to be a significant factor.I usually give guys a pass when they are injured but Harden had to know he was not helping the team.He should have put his ego aside and let someone who could actually help the team play. That's what a real team player does.
Harden is overrated as f

I remember as a Knicks fan being so angry that they went to the Nets. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Yup and the Knicks are moving on to round 2
Not really any disguise if you paid any real attention & didn't eat up media hype lol. Kyrie drags a trail of debris with him that makes having him on any team a cancer tbh ;o)
Not a blessing if you don't gain anything, you just avoided a bad situation
@trevmorin that depends on how you view it. Sometimes the best things for us are the things that didn't happen.

i really miss that 2019 nets team. don't know if we'll ever see a team as real as them.
That team was fun and energetic
Damn i wanna see that 2019 nets with KD.
No kyrie no harden. Otherwise its not going anywhere with Dlo as the best player
Oh look, another team that was supposed to be great & collapsed year after year that had Harden on it. I’m shocked.
This is a fair, thorough video, well done.
Point of order: Brooklyn DID offer a max contract. Several times, several iterations. Kyrie wanted one with no string attached, 100% fully guaranteed for the maximum 4 years. The Nets rightly refused.
The nets chose their ego and to disrespect kyrie over an opportunity to win a championship. They will now be a loosing team for the rest of their days.
@@se78n39 nah, they were smart not to pay guaranteed money to a dude they couldn’t rely on to consistently be there for them. And I say that as someone who enjoys watching Kyrie play.
@@se78n39 they didn’t disrespect kyrie, he didn’t deserve that max after what had happened during the season getting into drama and not following Covid protocols even partying with his sister during her birthday being insecure during the pandemic also his injuries
Ppl say if the nets paid Kyrie the money he wanted, They would still have KD and Kyrie. They love to forget that Kyrie just played around 30% of games in 3 years. Would you pay such a huge money to a player who is not available in 70% of games and likes to create drama out of nowhere
Kyrie pretty much single handedly ruined this big three. Man made James harden wanna leave cause kyrie was a part time playee
ok goofy
Hes not goofy. You are. Clearly you don't know what Kyrie has done. He didn't want to get the vaccine so he could not play all the games. Made James Harden want to leave because your insane if you think he wants to play with someone like that. Also Kds fault for not calling out Kyrie. Kd and Irving ruined that team, goofy Kyrie fan.
He was rushed back to make the new "Big 3" happen and a lot of people forget that Ben had a stretch of nice games before he got hurt again.
bens a good fit as a teammate to kd, wish it could’ve worked out cuz i’ve wanted the nets to succeed for a long ass time, now the nets just can’t compete and traded everyone away for dudes that left

Ah so your entire opinion is ridiculous 😂
In the same breathe you completely contradict your first statement
the title should really be "how kyrie destroyed a superteam"

Typical brain dead npc take lol
The last 5 minutes of this video got me chocked up and feeling some type of way. The image of Durant-Harden-Kyrie showing their backs at the end got me teary-eyed. * Sigh
This channel is so underrated, keep it up with these videos 🔥
It goes to show how hard it is to win just 1 title, let alone 3 in a row. No matter the talent, it takes a lot of dedication and will power to win it. Much respect to those who have done the threepeat.
i don’t think there will be another 3 peat in the nba honestly, too many players care more about a bigger check than winning now and teams just can’t stay together

well PG13 is prob missing the whole season. i think he already done a video onn the Lob city era clippers.
Probably should wait until Kawhi or PG get traded, you never know...
As a Clippers fan, I'd wanna see a video as well. Highlight how insanely unlucky this team has been when it came to injuries.
Still 30 of 30 gms would’ve done that move. You can’t predict injuries
As of today(4/22/2023, Clippers are down 3-1 to the Suns, one game away from elimination.

Yessss Dylan is back !!!!
Yea man… not much to say about him
Bro is the most underrated channel in yt, the edited is so fire 🔥
Nah I remember neither kd or kyrie wanted Steve nash, Sean marks did because he was Sean marks buddy
Nah lolol. Kyrie drags a trail of debris with him everywhere he goes & is destined to harm every team stupid enough to sign him ;o)
Love the videos bro, best Basketball content on UA-cam by far
Kyrie Irving seems to think ability as a pro athlete automatically translates across the board and that once you’ve become a great player no further work is needed.
I love watching this video over and over 😂
I love Dylan man his vids are amazing!
I just want to say your music taste in this video was impeccable, especially the blank banshee surprised me
Harden was playing Chess.
Hella great documentary. Vastly underrated and -watched. Liked and subscribed.
imo it was doomed from the start. Nash was a first time HC and wasn’t good enough to coach a regular team let alone a superteam. KD being injury prone combined with Kyrie being Kyrie they were never going to be on the court long enough to have chemistry with the rest of the team for a deep playoff run
What? They did make a deep playoff run
If Gianni's doesn't injure Kyrie. The Nets win the whole thing two years ago.
That whole sequence of the Nets thrasing on the Celtics with the Metal Slug music was nutty
Good video
For the most part these hastily assembled “super teams” don’t work. It worked for the Heat although it can be argued they should have won more than 2 titles. Aside from that, the teams with the most success over the last 10 years were teams mostly built through the draft.
Very well edited video. Great work Dylan!
You couldn't have documented this situation any better Dylan.😮 Thank you ❤
I’ve been waiting for you to make a video on this, and you did not disappoint.
I was destroyed this year when kyrie AND KD left the nets. They were in the best shape ever and everyone was healthy up until KDs injury.
I am loving this editing. Fantastic! 👌
I've been here since your Jimmy exposing the Media vid, and let's just say you never disappoint. Watching you upload is like a treat, get this man to a million subs.
Bro I love your videos. They're long, but damn are they engaging from start to finish.
