Excellent narration of the first ride Jen. FYI Yamaha and CLR have the same ground clearance. Considerable at 11.2 inches compared to the new 2023 CRF300ls at 9.2. Really great job! Love your cheerful personality and approach.
Just went over to your website and it looks clean!! If I’m ever out in you location I’ll hit you up on your website! Also Jean Dave , how do you shift while standing? ( your way ) Jean mentioned it , and I to can only sit and shift up . Down shifting standing is easy. Jean , any helpful suggestions? Thanks !
Thanks for the website feedback, we are really looking forward to meeting some great people. It is much harder to shift standing up with my motocross boots because they are super stiff but my touring boots make it pretty easy, I also have pretty big feet so that might be part of it. I can feel the shift lever pretty easy in my touring boot so it's just a matter of getting my foot under the shifter and going for it. If I had been trying to do it with motocross boots on from the beginning I probably would have given up but I think the other boots allowing me to feel where I am at have helped me get used to the positioning. Hope that help some, thanks for watching.
Those are the Tusk Tank Saddle Bags: amzn.to/3qY7vOr They have a couple straps that go over the top of the tank then some straps that kind of attach to the fairing. They barely fit on the 300L and actually are very handy.
I really enjoyed your commentary. I am in the process of considering between a Himilayan, Suzuki KLX300 and this Honda CRF300L. Im over 60 and have much the same terrain where I live. Would you prefer the Himmy on the ride you took instead? Any final thoughts on the CRF vs Himilayan would be great. thanks!
On the ride I just took the Himalayan would have performed great. It is more comfortable than the Honda, however it doesn't have as good of rear brakes as the Honda and if you drop it, it is much heavier to pick up. For the kind of riding I really like to do which is roads similar to this or even less technical I prefer the Himalayan because of the comfort. The stock seat on the Honda is extremely stiff so Dave switched it out and it is still not nearly as comfortable as the Himalayan. I think you should ask what your goal is. Is it to get out there and explore new places or just to enjoy the cruise. If it is to really explore, and you are by yourself, I would go with one of the lighter bikes.
If a Himalayan is a consideration then get a DR650. Far superior to the bored 250 class bikes, about 50lbs heavier though lighter than the Timmy. With a little suspension work it is much better all around than all 3. The CRF and KLX are downright dangerous on the Interstate as they have no acceleration left at highway speed, esp in wind or hills. DR will pull through 90+ easily.
@@intipunku8281 I've ridden the 300L and the KLX. KLX has MUCH better suspension. Not a big deal if you ride on the road. Big deal if you actually use the dual in dual sport... neither are what I would consider safe on anything other than 2 lane roads.
What’s more comfortable, the CRF300L or the XT250? My gen 2 KLR seat and riding position are very comfortable to me. I want a smaller second bike but my butt is spoiled now. 😂 I’m 5’9” and 205lbs with a 31” inseam.
We changed the seat out on the Honda to a seat by seat concepts right after we got it. So with the combo of the new seat and the positioning of the foot pegs in relation to the seat I would say the Honda is way more comfortable than the XT.

Love this bike
I want one.
Looks like a fun ride! Thank you for the comparison and sharing!

Jen, that was a great review 👏 👍. Thank you.
Thanks!
Very helpful comparisons. Much obliged.
Generally with motox boots you rock your leg to shift and use the brake it takes a bit to get used to but after a while it will feel natural
Nice video, try using 6th gear when cruising. I also have the 300l, it's one bike I would miss if I sold it.

I think you need more bags, there’s a few spots I can still see the bike! 😜
:)
Well kitted out bike, just can't jump on the CRF300L/Rally band wagon for a bigger guy.
Random question, are those front side panniers attached to crash bars or just "free" floating?

Get the 300L
By far the best out of the 3.
I've owned both the himalayan and currently a 300L.
There is no comparison.
The Honda is a far better motorcycle in every department.
Good luck

Good luck with the touring business. Any interest in the new crf300 s, that is already lowered?
Thanks, I would be interested in the lower bike. I'll have to go test one out. Thanks for watching.

Oh sure. I just bought a ‘22 Himalayan. 😕
I still have and prefer my Himi over every other bike in my garage. More videos on that one to come, enjoy your bike!
