I'm putting this link first because if you use markers you need to watch it. its the first Color theory video that made some sense to me. And it's specifically for markers which is *chef's kiss * just perfect. I need to watch it again to let more of it sink in. The video today is what I learned on the first pass of this specific video. It hit me so hard I had to try it out. I really want to watch it again and see what more I pick up on now that I've done this exercise and try it with other tones. I don't really go in depth about how everything works (which i'm realizing right now,) so go watch Zoe's video for the technical stuff! You won't regret it!

@@drawingwiffwaffles I know you probably won't see this or wont do it but will you please try and cut down on your jump cuts like when you define your sketches I love watching you sketch it's so smooth soothing and calm yet elegant and neat I hope I'm not coming off pushy or mean I just genuinely wanna see you draw more without jump cuts :D
Ally_D1 i think with videos like these, it would be really long and probably not the best idea to cut down on jump cuts. longer videos don’t get watched all the way through, as much. if people get use to seeing 40 minute videos on her channel, her views may go down and thus ad revenue etc. etc. though i do like watching her sketch and do line art with less cuts, i think a better solution is to put that process on her IGTV or something.

Alright so, I just broke up with someone who I've been in a long term relationship with, sitting and thinking that that might have been a mistake even tho I totally realize I had to do that and it was the right thing to do and then got a notification that u posted (20 minutes later, thanks youtube) and honestly, just thank you. I really need to do something with my brain rn and this is perfect to keep me busy and away from doing stupid things.
it can be hard to do what's best for ourselves cuz its never the easiest thing to do. but it will be better overall. you just don't feel it instantly. time will heal 💜

I hope you feel better soon, just remember that there's a reason you broke up with them. It was the right thing to do, and you should always make it known if someone's hurting you. And if they don't stop after you tell them, then they're not worth it. Because you should be your #1 priority.

The second drawing is actually a monochromatic color scheme, since the only hue you use is blue.
Analogous would be if you did two colors right next two each other on the color wheel (like blue and green, or blue and purple).
Also, I noticed that you use tone and value interchangeably quite often. "Tone" refers to the amount of saturation (so more or less purity of the hue), whereas "value" describes how light or dark a colour is.

You're almost right! Analogous is 3 colors next to each other! Like yellow-orange, yellow, and yellow-green!

It’s all about the tone/hue. A lighter gray usually means older, darker can mean younger. Also the hairstyle adds a lot to the perceived age. Hope this helps!
More detail = Older. Less detail = Younger. Look how simple Rin’s drawings are. However I’m no art teacher, believe what you want.

I think you’re talking about around 22:48, and that posture actually doesn’t cause any issues, doctors have disproved the theory
SJ i’m not sure, but i did definitely sit in that position a lot, the little “w” position, and now i have some major back an hip problems. it could potentially be other things, but i’m just blaming it on that for now until i go to a doctor haha

I'm super happy that you got more experimental with the colors at the end to challenge yourself, her skin tone looks very interesting and cohesive because her skin isn't all one color. Using blues and pinks and purples in skin is very common practice and it kinda makes it look more realistic. I love that you dabbled in it.

it does bleed a little. but the trick is to not go over the same place a lot when its wet. but other then that youre in the hands of the marker gods.

This channel has help me improve my own art SO MUCH. Im a self tought artest whos never taken an art class, i don't often watch tutorials so i pretty much learned to improve by watching you draw, and don't worry your not my only source of knowledge. The best youtubers are the ones that 1. realise what is not their strong suite 2. Admit that and 3. Work on it to improve 4. give credit to the people you learn from and best of all 5. Make us a part of the process so we can benefit from it too. That is the best thing about this channel which is also kind of unique - the audience is always a part of the thought process and not just the process of the hands executing those thoughts. I hate drawing people - real, illustration, any kind. However, this channel makes me want to draw them and has helped me lot with character design. Keep going Waffles, improve yourself and us as well in the process!
This is an awesome video, Rin! It's so cool to see the process, but also to see the amazing progress you've made these last couple of months. Every time you've made a video about improving a certain aspect of art, that improvement shows up in the videos after that. And this video in particular showcases all your new skills. It really shows you didn't make these videos just for us, but also worked really really hard yourself. And I love the results!

I think this is exactly something that I need to focus on, because I tend to use more pastel colors in my illustrations. That usually leads me to not having enaugh contrast, but I'm kinda scared to use darker colors... Even you used to say that dark colors were intimidating to you, but I'm super happy you could improve, Rin! And i noticed that you drew some schrunched poses (because you practiced and you got better which that gave you confidence drawing them I think) so I just wanted to say congrats and the improvement is actually really visible! Thank you for the inspiration, as ususal XP

Colour theory is so difficult, my colour schemes almost always look ugly, unless I steal them from another picture, or fluke

I don’t do traditional art much, I do digital, and grey scale is THE BOMB OML. it’s easy to get the tones right as you said, and it also looks classy lol
