To be fair the 'drink water when you're thirsty' is exactly right. The whole "drink x liters of water every day" bullshit was made by companies to sell more water and overhydration can actually be dangerous. Fun fact - you can end a 26mile marathon and end up gaining weight because you drank too much water on the way.
@@baklazan777as an athlete I can confirm that I need to drink absurd amounts per day or else I could literally pass out or die from dehydration. However, if you’re a regular person, there is literally no reason to drink that much. If you don’t do a ton of exercise or sports, drinking when you’re thirsty is perfectly fine. The only circumstance would be if you are outside all day and it is hot or if you are doing something that takes a lot of effort. If you are a serious athlete (like me) if you don’t drink at least 8 bottles of water per day, you will feel fatigued and have some other side effects. A normal person can drink probably 3 or 4 and be good. Trust me, a few years ago I didn’t know the importance of hydration so I would push myself extremely hard while only drinking about 4 bottles per day and one day it was extremely hot and I pushed too hard and I almost passed out and I had to go to the hospital and recover. Dehydration is nothing to play around with and I got extremely lucky I had people around and I something worse didn’t happen. Anyways. Sorry for my TED talk but I just needed to give some input on it

@@DudeWithTheNosecorrect me if I'm wrong, but you don't need water you didn't use, so if you still have plenty of water in you, you won't be thirsty so if you're drinking when you're thirsty and stay properly hydrated you should stay about the same cause any water you needed you sweat off, maybe not the exact same cause sure some sweat lingers on your body even without clothes and I'm sure some goes to your bladder but not much of kt

Ludwig is right. The waters actually do all taste different, people just don't notice because you have to have them side by side to taste the difference because it's kinda subtle.
I genuinely think that people just have varying degrees of taste sensitivity, so those with a higher sensitivity are the ones who claim to really be able to tell the difference. I am one, for the record, every brand tastes subtly (or not-so-subtly) different than each other.
You know there are very subtle difference but I maintain the cheapest water that tastes fine is the best option just on principle paying more for fancy water feels silly. Also Dasani is evil and has haunted me since childhood.

YEP the tempature changes everything because cold water stops some of your taste buds from working so you dont register whats in the water. Thats why cold water taste "cleaner" you just literally cant taste whats in it

Another thing, the container COUNTS a lot. Plastic, carboard, glass or a tin can will change how you taste the water and even different kinds of plastics will change that. They should've had room temperature glasses of water and do it blindly, having a third person to pour the water because this way you remove bias towards a brand.
Exact same reason i only take ice chilled tequila shots and such, dulls the horrid aftertaste.
Something interesting I learned in science class is that different temperatures of water will taste different. Typically the colder the water the better it tastes.
Which is also why the material matters; canned water will always be cooler than plastic (unless you're sat in a furnace or something). Glass will insulate the water better so if you take already cold canned and glass water out of the fridge and wait x amount of time the glass water will be cooler. But if you put them in the fridge at room temp the canned water will get cold faster.
Cardboard is dog at getting cold and keeping cold so will usually be the worst material.

the water being in glass, plastic, and cans will definitely change the taste. plastic bottles depending on the cheapness can ruin the taste imo, dasani and generic brand water has really awful plastic, that makes the taste acidic, sharp, and course. fiji has more firm plastic, so it doesn't affect the taste as much. even with sodas and other drinks, glass will always taste more crisp and refreshing.

As a blue collar worker I have given no thought to bottled water until I was doing some work in a fancy reaturant and the chef gave us 3 bottles of aqua panna when I asked for water. Truly life changing.
The different taste in water is not due to the water, it's due to the minerals in the water contribute to its taste and mouthfeel. But other than that, it doesn't matter where the water comes from as long as it is filtered and safe to drink, all you're paying for is the marketing

yeah this whole thing that you should drink water constantly is actually not a good thing. if you are thristy drink. the body willl only use what it need and all chugging water will do is make you go to the bathroom more often. drinking to much water can also be a bad thing but then we are talking about a lot of water in a really short amount of time
If you are in hot place this really doesnt work. Also you can ignore really easily thirst if you are concentrating in other things
nah, when you're busy/focused or in a cold environment, you may just forget to drink water. This is a big reason why kidney stones happen. It's not like people actively avoid water when thirsty.

At my house I have the water filter built into the fridge, and a standalone filter pitcher inside the fridge. I swear, the best taste is mixing them together. IK it's crazy I'm making cocktails out of two different waters. But they just taste weird alone.
Probably a temperature thing; fridge water is too cold, room temp water too warm. Mix together? Perfect.

I hate filtered water. We had a filtered tap when I was a kid and I went out of my way to drink unfiltered tap water due to how awful it was to me. Probably one of the main reasons I'm a bottled water enjoyed now.

As a professional water drinker (sober + rarely drink anything other than water), different water DOES taste different. In my experience, cold water is the hardest to differentiate between. You can tell the differences a lot better at room temperature. And in my personal opinion, the best way to test the flavor of water is to test it when its warm/hot. If you've had a nice car warmed dasani, you know that's a STRONG flavor lol. And something that I've discovered is that the warmer it is, the more Smart Water has a Dasani taste. It makes sense, it's the same company. So it certainly isn't worth any/all upcharging. It's just less offensive dasani
About Smart and Dasani tasting alike warmer, maybe because you taste the bottle better and it is the same bottle.
So you found out that heating a plastic bottle will degrade the bottle and make the water taste change because its filled with even more plastic particles... Aslo Dasani is litterally filtered water the same as tap the only difference is that they take it from the filtering plant so it doesn't go trough a whole city aqueduc system and most people's poorly maintained plumbing.

He is 100% right, not all water tastes the same, it all comes down to the minerals dissolved in it and the quanitity, it can have huge differences. In germany we have a sparkling water thats called Gerolsteiner, im like 99% sure they enrich it with minerals, because when you leave it in a glass and drink repeatedly out of that glass before washing it, you will see mineral lines form on it.

What he proved is that they taste different, not that the more expensive water tasted better.

Water is actually gonna taste significantly different depending on the origin and/or processing... I have taste shit tier faucet water, mid tier sweet mountain spring fresh water that has a sweet initial taste and a weird after taste, to bland but good water and then bland but shit water. If you only drink from 1 place, you probably wont notice the difference specially if you're used to 1 brand of drinking water. But yeah... It's not that hard to tell the difference.

I usually like to ensure the ph of the water is strictly 7 sometimes 8 if I am feeling a little more alkaline. Anything between 6 and below is a no-go. I take the acidity with an electronic ph meter just to be sure. You want a nice crisp balanced flavour so no Dasani! I recommend Aquafina for beginners water if you must go bottled, but honestly room temperature tap water through a filter is the way to go. Then you get all the minerals.
Now, glass shape is important, you can either go tall or you can go wide (we call them verties or horries, vertical or horizontal). I like to go with a horry, because I really want to see the water between sips; I think looking at it is half the pleasure.
I miss living in my hometown, because the tap water came straight from the nearby mountain. So clean it didn’t even need to be filtered.

I will say, "drink water when your thirsty" IS actually good advice. Unless you need to have more water than normal for medical reasons, drinking when you arent thirsty isn't good for you. Your body will let you know when you need it
