I'm stoked that you've finally done this review on the RX1! Been wanting to hear your thoughts on the 2018 Hoyts since they came out! You rock, Steven!
I still use the carbon matrix for 3D , great bow . 35” A2A , so a good length as I don’t like short bows Haven’t seen a bow that I would swap it with yet
Iv just got in to compound bows ..and since iv watched a couple of your vids I’m really impressed you actually go in to depth with each bow which I really good and I like .. Keep up the good work and I’ll be definitely be purchasing a bow from you for sure..I actually live in Victoria though
The thumb thing bugged me too on my ultra, which I only got instead of a pse stealth due to my 31.5" draw length and the ultra being the only carbon bow in that length. To remedy I found that Hoyt uses a pretty thick piece of foam tape to secure the grip. I removed the stock tape and replaced with a thinner piece of 3M double sided tape and the grip contour better matches the riser, no more thumb issues
Thank you for the honest review, Steven. BTW, what's with the static roller guards on high-end bows? The plastic slider version, that PSE got heat for, at least moved. If a guard is able to let the strings move, to me, that means less bow-induced torque.
What a beautiful Bow. I have always liked Hoyt not because they shoot great, but they look great. If only its priced reasonably. Do you stock this bow? And does it come in target colour?
I had a Hoyt Carbon Spyder 34. Nice bow but when I shot my brothers Xpedition I had to get one. I lost my ass when I sold the Hoyt and it was only a year old. A couple things I didnt like about it were I didnt like the cable stops...they make the back wall feel spongy and the finish on the Carbon Hoyts back then (2015) was not durable at all. Seems like its still that way?
Wrong 32,32 and 35 the ultra is 35” 32 has the standard cam and the turbo has turbo cam.. and the turbo has a 5 7/8” Brace height were the other two have a 6” brace height.
Didn’t you say the bow was hanging in your shop for about 8 months? I don’t think in my opinion that HOYT let that bow leave there shop with those scratches! I always value your opinion but you seem to be nit picking! You are only going to set the draw length once so who cares what kind of screw/ bolt they use. As far as the grip goes people including myself love it, I don’t wrap my thumb around the grip anyway,
I love my spyder turbo over anything else I've shot. So I just cannot justify paying that sort of $$$ for something that really isn't head and shoulders over what I have anyway.
you have the poundage wound rite down, it looks like if you undone the limb bolts any more the bow would come apart, if you want to make it look slower than PSE I would lower the poundage as much as possible as well, specially if it wasn't the bow that you mainly sell and the company didn't support your business. I've also notice that the poundage on the PSE that you do the speed tests on are set at the maximum poundage.
Steve does ALL his tests with bows set at 29" and #60 (unless the bow is under #60 or cannot do 29" for whatever reason). He uses the same arrows too - 327gn with a 90gn point. Sometimes he tests with other arrows too, but he always says so. So the OP is just another butthurt hoyt fanboy. Pathetic.
i have had an rx1 ultra since feb and literally have not noticed that thumb annoyance you speak of. after watching this i went and shot my bow trying to find what you're taking about and still nothing. good review of the bow itself, aside from you're comment about needing over 300 fps to hunt, thats kind of a joke and your speed test is a little dishonest being that you are at a shorter draw length and a lower poundage than what the 330ibo is measured at. 70lb 30 in and 350 gn arrow is ibo you not 30 in and not at 70lb either so a bit unfair
thanks for clarifying that, just didn't want people to think hoyt misrepresents their numbers. I see the ridge but personally do not feel it in my thumb when shooting. I have had older hoyts which have the hard grip and of course none of those have the ridge at all but they are more broad/blunt of a surface all together so i think the reason I don't feel the ridge is because the ergonomics of the new grip far exceeded the old grip so I see the grip, as a whole, an improvement so i cannot pick out the flaw that is the ridge.
I did, I was the second largest dealer in the world at over 700bows a year. In fact I sold more Bowtech than PSE. Bowtech has or had poor customer service with repairs. I still have bows in parts from them. Bowtech was not very honest, they gave my dealership to another store who went broke 2years later. Customer Service is everything. They may or may not have a good bow but without service it is worthless.
You should at least do some research before doing a review. The bow ur reviewing is a 35” ata. The rx1 and rx1 turbo are BOTH 32” ata. Not 31 34 and 35 inches... come on bro.
thanks for your comments. These take me 4hours you will notice no ads. So I don't earn anything, I do these for information. I have to buy bows. I owned the shop for 28 years never had a holiday and work 7 days. So instead of been a hater, why not make your own videos, or watch someone else. So over complainers
I'm stoked that you've finally done this review on the RX1! Been wanting to hear your thoughts on the 2018 Hoyts since they came out! You rock, Steven!
PSE carbon air is the bow I run and I love it and the cams
I still use the carbon matrix for 3D , great bow . 35” A2A , so a good length as I don’t like short bows

Obviously you ship if your in to state?? Thanks
Bill
I thought the RX-1 turbo was nicer bow for the speed, more solid back wall and not too short of a valley than the RX-1. And of course I bought it. ;>
The thumb thing bugged me too on my ultra, which I only got instead of a pse stealth due to my 31.5" draw length and the ultra being the only carbon bow in that length.

Excellent honest review, well done...will stick with my Mathews..

It's done on the lower cam itself
What a beautiful Bow. I have always liked Hoyt not because they shoot great, but they look great. If only its priced reasonably. Do you stock this bow? And does it come in target colour?
We stock all Hoyts, it does come in target colours, target is more expensive
I bought recent a Perform X and the cable was served by cable slide :)
I serve them now if they aren't done already. Now you need to shoot some big scores. 8)
That cam does seem to rock alot more easy then my Hoyt faktor
The hoyt rx1 turbo is 32 in axle to axle like the regular one but just a shorter brace height nice video tho
I had a Hoyt Carbon Spyder 34. Nice bow but when I shot my brothers Xpedition I had to get one. I lost my ass when I sold the Hoyt and it was only a year old. I'd hate to clean the Hoyt after It gets dusty. Looks awesome when they're clean.
Hay Steven I like you video they are honest and to the point. When you going to do one on the tru ball goat?
can the bow set up so it has limb stops?if it Doe's it mite make the back wall a bit more solid
Is there anyway to make the draw length about a half inch long by messing with stings
What is the real weight of the bow RX1 32 ATA straight out of the box?
Wrong 32,32 and 35 the ultra is 35” 32 has the standard cam and the turbo has turbo cam.. and the turbo has a 5 7/8” Brace height were the other two have a 6” brace height.
correct! previous models like the nitrum were standard 30 and 34 but the turbo was 33.5, may have just been applying the same variance to the rx1.
What is the arrow weight that you are shooting?
Didn’t you say the bow was hanging in your shop for about 8 months? I don’t think in my opinion that HOYT let that bow leave there shop with those scratches! Use the other cams, you will pick up more speed. Those cams must not be maxing out the curve. Use the largest cam.
Please next time you review a bow start by showing the weight on a scale , this bow treads are very loose .
I love my spyder turbo over anything else I've shot.
So I just cannot justify paying that sort of $$$ for something
that really isn't head and shoulders over what I have anyway.
How about the 32 version
ELITE Reviews ?
Where can I get those dampers shown at 1:32 for my Hoyt?
Any Hoyt dealer

I shot this bow too, it‘s slow. 🤷🏼♂️
320 gn arrow, 60 pound and 27,5 DL only 288 fps.
damn slow thing for a hundin‘ bow.

All my bow tests are done at 60# at 29" wit the same arrow. I wonder why your thumb does not touch the riser on the edge?

google this - Chasing Speed: Fastest Compound Bows | Outdoor Life - I found it interesting in regards to bow speed's
David B Lowe I don’t chase any speeds. I hunt with a 600 gn arrow out of a 60# rx1 ultra. I’m getting about 230 FPS. They hit like a thunderbolt.
All good and I get where you are coming from
Would you ever stock Bowtech?
I did, I was the second largest dealer in the world at over 700bows a year. In fact I sold more Bowtech than PSE. Bowtech has or had poor customer service with repairs. Id say a textured finish.
you have the poundage
Prefer the Stinger! :-)
i realize it is kind of randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Jeremy Ruben i watch on FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
@Emerson Wilson yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for years myself :)
@Emerson Wilson Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) I appreciate it!
@Jeremy Ruben Happy to help :)
I don't make money on Hoyt 😂
HOYT = over priced slow bows. Shit if hoyt puts a spec card on their bows. Hoyt will charge 200 dollars more for the spec card.

i own a hoyt and i LOVE IT.. NO PSE CUZN O DOG..😂
