My experience with Archery Supplies in Australia has been quite good. I made a purchase and Steve had reached out to me asking if I was sure I wanted that item, because he had a comprehensive video review on it, he sent me the link to the review asking if I still want the item after watching the review. He wasn't trying to make a buck, he wanted to ensure I knew what I was buying and if it met my needs. I think that is absolutely going above and beyond what any shop (or manufacturer) in the world would offer. I have never before purchased items from Steve because I'm here in the US and I have local shops, this particular item wasn't in stock in US. Steve's product reviews are honest, comprehensive, and he speaks from the heart when he says if he himself would use an item. The videos he does on products and situations are candid and transparent, he tells it like it is and not being paid to tell you something. Honesty and integrity and passion for the product and sport is what you'll get dealing with Steve and his shop. A guy simply doesn't go on making videos with this much transparency if he didn't care that you left his shop with something you'll love.
I brought my first bow from Archery supplies; Jess served me and was so patient with a beginner buying her first bow. Since then, I have brought two more traditional bows and recently a modern barebow recurve, not to mention all the accessories. Steve has always been so helpful with both me and my husband who still shoots traditional and has spent plenty of time with me, including some coaching on my form. Every bow Steve has recommended has been great and I have had no issues with any of them.
Always received great products and when i have had questions, your staff have been really helpful and friendly. Some people simply have a negative attitude and bring it everywhere they go. Not worth worrying about them.
You have to charge for your time, we used to have the same issue as well. Our set-up is charged at an hourly rate from $60-$85 along with many other Aus shops depending on the work involved. If it's just basic stuff off the shelf and 10 minutes to install, then we don't charge. As you said, you can't go to a mechanic for free advice or work done, so the archery industry needs to change this expectation of free work. Unfortunately nowadays many people don't seem to value free advice so you always have to charge.
I wouldnt call that set up then, maybe offer a free 10-15 minute set up and and run through all the stuff they bought. But after that, call it coaching or tuning and charge standard coaching rates.
Steven - thanks for all you do for the archery community, and DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. Every time I've ever watched one of your videos and read the comments (even during your trips to Las Vegas), you are always upbeat, positive and giving great advice. Your comments section is overwhelmingly positive. Don't let a few get you down.
Always had good service and clear communications with your shop. When I have ordered something that is not available (either at all or not in the colour etc that I want) as per the website, I have always recieved a prompt email informing me of the fact & advising me of suitable alternatives, normally from Helen. That is good proactive customer service. Well done Helen and Steve.
Look although your not in the U.S. I watched your videos about the PSE bows because I felt you were honest about your reviews unlike some of these guys doing reviews in the U.S. ,I purchased a PSE Evolve35 , love and still shooting it thank you for helping me make up my mind.. keep up the great work.
People are just negative and seriously don't deserve a reply. When I started Archery 8 years ago you helped me so much. You have forgotten more about archery than most of us will ever know. Yes I work at the shop but don’t do customer service 😢 because of negative unreasonable people. You are the nicest guy and do so much for people.
I've never had a bad experience with Archery Supplies sure they don't always have what you want when you want it but thats life. I have only ever had good experiences with all of the Archery Supplies crew.
I was brought up that if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. I work for my dad and his friends they open a gun and archery shop here in the United States. This was back in 1985 and it was unbelievable the crap we had to put up with. When we sell a bow we always offer to setup a take the person down stairs and spend a hour with them helping to get them better. We never got paid for this but we were always willing to go the extra mile. My dad was always willing to say look you bought a bow from us go down and shoot for free. When my son finishes today he will be down stairs shooting for 2 or 3 hours after we close. Ask him questions and ask him to help if you don’t understand something or have a problem. I am positive he will put his bow away and spend as much time as you need. I never minded because I love archery and I want to see people love it as much as I do. You can’t please everyone but I always got my satisfaction when I would see that person staring to love a sport as much as I do. I actually had a group of kids coming down to the store about 15 minutes before closing. My dad would always say your team is waiting down stairs. To this day I still see some of them with kids and they ask are you still shooting and where. Unfortunately I had a stroke and I am trying to shoot again but it is a up hill battle. I still see some of the people I helped and about 90% still shot to this day.
I wouldn't worry too much about negative reviews. It's like the restaurant business. If someone loves the food they may tell 1 person. But if they didn't like it they tell EVERYONE. Cheers Steven, love the channel!
Dealt with your company many times and never had a bad experience with goods or services . Your staff are professional and know what they are doing and have always made my experience enjoyable .
I've watched your videos for years. I have a few tratitional bows... more than a few I guess. These days I don't shoot any. If I continue with archery at 72.... whew....72..... now I feel bad... lol. But if I were to continue with archery it will be with a Bear-ready to hunt rig. Very affortable and almost as good as any. BUT Archery Supplies... I can't stress how much you've helped me out with learning about anything archery. I donno why anyone would ever give you negitive feedback about anything. Your a honest and truthful person. I'm in the High Plains of Texas. People here respect people like you... with all you've done... with your videos. I hope you treat all that negitive your getting.... like water on a Duck's Back.. ROCK ON Archery Supplies !!!!!!!!!!!
Ive bought all my gear through you guys and your staff has always been great. You have also been great to reach out to for advise steven. Keep punchin mate
Thanks mate for doing what you are. If there's no coin there's no sense I get that. I'm not exactly cashed up and a very lack luster archer, so info and stock that your providing are priceless. Keep the love for the sport mate
Nine out of ten people who leave bad reviews have never run a business in their life, keep up the good work and keep telling the truth, sadly for some people the truth hurts
Steven Don't worry about the nasty people, we still love you in Whyalla. If you want to learn to shoot join a club don't harass the shop. I don't ask the car dealer to teach me how to drive I bought my first bow from you in 2006 in Canberra. And we love your reviews.
Clearly a lot of those reviews are likely to be other Archery dealerships trying to damage your super successful and amazing business I'm in the UK and have bought items from Archery Supplies ,as it was literally the only dealership I could find online ,who has the smooth mods for my Elite Verdict. Process was super easy ,price was great ( exchange rate favourable) and items were delivered super quick. Fantastic customer service and experience, from start to finish. Keep doing what you are doing,as the archery world very much appreciates it 😁🏹
Steve, some people can't be pleased. Its not in their DNA to ever be happy with other people. Online ratings are a venting tool for them because everyone they know is tired of hearing their complaints. Sadly, rating does influence online sales, I imagine, but not your live customers. We keep coming back to the same water whole. Love your videos.
I work in Industrial Retail an customer service above and beyond is paramount. Keep up the good work mate. Respect to you for taking the love of archery over money also Steve.
Can't comment on your in store service as I have never visited but I have viewed many of your videos & listened wirh interest to your product reviews & your take on where Archery manufacturers & the sport is & based on your very honest non biased opinions I can only your face to face service is the same so I don't rhink you deserve bad reviews & I am guessing that those that give you bad reviews are by people who want something for nothing & do not understand the functionality of the products they buy from you & they adjust things wrong or expect more than the product is capable of or they simply don't have the necessary ability to go to the level they are expecting. You have my vote & I hope you are not put off by the negative reviews because I think you do a very good job.
Ive had excellent experience. I went in with expectation to buy something and the staff didn't try and upsell me. That was a massive indicator that they're a genuine service provider
It always strikes me that many people believe that profit margins are big for most resellers... but that is only true for some type of products. So any time spent for guidance and help to customers (especially when you pay staff for this) eats away that profit.
Steve. I brought a bow on your review (Sanliida X10)and my shooting improved over night. I find your reviews insightful and informative. People who bitch don’t have to watch. Opinions are like arseholes mate.
You cant please everybody. You do the best you can and and thats all you can do. If you were absolutely perfect all of the time you would still get some bad reviews. This is my go to channel for bow reviews because your very thorough and honest. Hang in there!
How did the company's 4×4 end up on it's roof? Well, I was driving through the Open Cut Mine at the regulation 15 Km/h, when suddenly I lost control, and it suddenly ended up on its roof.
I am 80km north of Adelaide and know your shop is in the South. I would love to shop locally, but its more convenient and fun to get the bargains off Aliexpress for now. I had my Paypal account cancelled because of the archery equipment I was buying online!! I am learning the hobby off UA-cam, and its actually great entertainment. I love the liberties the Americans have for hunting animals. I am pissed the local government is making hunting in our great state illegal, especially since there is so much varmin to be knocked back. I now may have to sell the archery equipment I already have. I was looking forward to my first bow hunt!! I feel for you store owners, maybe it will go the way of the Dvd stores that were forced to close because of online subscriptions . Brutal reality!!
Hi Steven I did drive 7 hours and come to your shop you helped set up my BowTec and I got a new Fivices rbow from you ,I have to agree with you your help and time you spent with me was amazing it was worh
Over the years I have ordered products from just about every Archery Shop in Australia and also Lancaster in the US and Merlin in the UK. Never had a bad experience with any of my orders or any faulty product being sent by any of the Shops, Everyone goes out of their way to be helpful and informative. I also don't order stuff and except it to be on my door step the next day, these shops aren't Amazon and don't have a fully automated Warehouse. i don't have a favorite shop since all of them have something to offer and do an excellent job in doing so. I also find that prices in Australia for Archery Equipment are very reasonable versus the US or the UK so I believe that the people in the industry own a shop for the Love of Archery and not to become a millionaire
You do a lot for archery in Australia, Steve, as do your staff. I've ordered from you many times and any issues that have arisen have always been dealt with quickly and easily - you seem to give your staff the authority to act on their own, which helps speed up many issues. The sad truth is that a lot of people these days are just trash. You'll never make everyone happy, and awful people will always try to drag you down, especially those with an entitled attitude. Just keep doing what you're doing and ignore the buttholes.
Good archery shops are hard to find. In my experience many are condescending Aholes. Very accusatory. I drove four hours to one of the biggest names in the US. Total Mistake. The tech partially cut my string during bow setup. Was a 2k flagship bow. He told me they would order me a new string and ship it to me. The sight I wanted wasn’t in stock due to restocking errors. I had called in advance to make sure they had what I wanted in stock. Tech could not get the bow paper tuned. Worst tears you will ever see. He kept insisting on moving the rest then blaming my poor form even though he was also unable to shoot a decent hole. Finally he called a different tech over to try and he was able to shoot what they thought was an acceptable hole. The bow shot horrible for two years. I finally found a decent local shop and the tech had me shooting bullet holes in fifteen minutes by adjusting the yokes. I had other shops tell me nothing was wrong and the bow was fine. Moral of the story is yes there are bad customers but there are just as many garbage bow shops…
Steve I wish your shop was in Ontario Canada. I would be bothering you all the time. I think you are great and your prices are the same or lower than I can get from AliExpress, even adding the shipping from Australia to Canada. Don't let these people get to you. You can never please everyone.
Steve, you’ve been in business for a very long time. You wouldn’t be in business if you gave lousy service. Tell them all to pound sand. If I ever make it to Adelaide, I will come visit. You always enjoy your videos. Keep a stiff upper lip.
Steve, Don't worry about these idiots. They are always going to be around. I worked for a guy many years ago, and he said as a joke that he would be a better business if he didn't have to deal with or have customers, and money would just appear in his bank account 😁.
I hear you about bad reviews but couriers are absolutely useless. I've had two parcels in the last two days that were requested to be picked up from the depot dropped at the front gate of my rural property 500 meters from house. Just lucky that they were there when We drove in or out. If it's a courier delivered purchase it's not happening.
What you just said defines how good of a human you are Stephen It's about the people it's never been about money and that is exactly what Christ said to do You might not know it but Living in the image of Jesus Christ bro Like you said people come back for 40 to 50 years you watch them grow up you you watch them have kids you've done this you've done that it's all about the people for you
Go and have a beer Steven, kick back and put the feet up. Play with the dog and laugh at the people that are not as bright as the dog. This is coming from an old customer back in the ACT days and I think from your parents too.
I think everybody that has dealt with the store needs to get on Google and leave a honest review with five stars and drive Stephen through the roof and show these people that the bad reviews are people lying
Im in FNQ all I have to do is call you guys and within the week I get my drugs "according to the misses archery equipment is a drug with me" . One of the best dispensaries in OZ.
Brother people will talk about you because you are successful. Forgetit I live miles away from Australia and I bought my first compound pse evolve 35 because of you keep doing what you love and let them speak 😂
You got to realize there are a lot of idiots out there watching reviews. Don’t worry about bad reviews. You help a lot of people in this industry. I know how hard it is to make a profit on archery gear. Been there done that. Just keep up the good work you do. Looks like you have a massive archery shop.
Sad and painful to watch, but interesting. I appreciate your in stock numbers seem reliable. The in stock levels in another archery store I normally try to give my business to (for local pickup and service factors) seem to have little correlation to the truth. They politely contact you, etc and provide a refund - but it is a waste of everyone's time.
I read reviews before I buy off of Amazon. The first one might say great product. The second might say what a piece of crap. People are diverse, some good some bad, some smart some dumb. I favor your channel although I'm American. You give good advice and good reviews. I would hate to see you stop as I enjoy your channel. Your channel should help your business but if the help isn't sufficient to cover the stress you would be wise to call and end. When I make comments on the internet I don't read replies as I found my skin may be too thin and I want to rebut the comment on my comment.
I've never been to the shop but you are my friend and I have been your like fewer for what 34 years now and I've known you that long and I have never once heard you say something or come off sideways or be rash or anything like that to the point of you know getting a negative review and I'm not saying this because you're my friend I'm saying it because it's the truth
I'm telling you right now I've never even heard of a archery shop if you buy a bow it's bought you're not bringing it back exchange me a bow because it come with the wrong limbs on it was a display piece and she told me she didn't have no more that I could buy that one but you know we ended up getting extra limbs all kinds
No wonder no one answers the phone when your got all these people ringing with silly questions, I've tried to ring on a number of times and it does ring out a lot, i did eventually get though and the young fella that answered the phone said that the was very busy and didn't have time to check whether the bow i wanted was in stock or not
Bows absolutely do blow up without being dry fired, limbs fail, strings snap. You should be honest, its rare but can happen. No ones talking about the bow exploding while hanging up, hes talking about it exploding under load while practicing!
Steven this is a question to you but it’s not a dig at you. If a string is old or had a nick in it prior to putting in a case. If string let loose in the case would it do much damage to the bow. Let’s say a 65lb draw. Thank you. Love the videos
Love your videos: I'll be honest people are lazy. Everything is online. If you try hard enough and put the time in you can be very very knowledgeable and train yourself. I trained myself, took 7 months to learn everything under the sun.
I agree bad rewiews...Affect sales...There was a person online that had good prices...but one bad review made me gun shy from buying...But I did it anyway...It didn't affect the sale...but I did write a review against his bad review...If I'm ever in Australia I'll visit your store.
Turn off all ratings and reviews They are all personal feelings and none is 100% accurate ever. You do great work. Leave it at that and forget any reviews.
If someone is buying a bow and then need it set up, you have to charge for the setup. No matter what job you have ultimately it comes down to we trade our time for money. Im a buisness owner as well, different industry but if im spending time im charging, no expectation.
The store I use in the UK charged me for the setup, but it was comically low. If I can afford an expensive bow, then I can afford the setup. Of course, free is always nice but archery is such a niche sport and business.
I'll just point out that one of my most recent orders with Archery Surprise I received a mismatched set of products (colour and finish). I chose to ignore it simply because resolving it was less hassle than tolerating it. don't assume that lack of feedback is satisfaction. at the same time, nor should you be teaching someone to shoot. a car dealer does not teach you how to drive. you're supplying a product, end of story.
Do you know how many thousands and thousands of Cycles they put on those limbs on those cams to make sure that this don't happen I think Hoyt Archery still has one of those bows going to this day
• Steven, where's my PURPLE bow and my PURPLE shirt and my PURPLE target which I ordered 9 hours ago??? They should have been DELIVERED by now!!! 🤬😵😵💫🙄🤪😆
Interesting, I had limb pocket failures on a Diamond sb-1 took it back, they accused me of dry firing, well wasnt I happy but not as happy as you with this shipment. Anyway, it tuns out that bowtech forgot to say there was a limb pocket locking screw in the manual. The shop did not know, I certainly didnt and it was frustration all round. Please just hang in there mate.
What's the metrics you use to measure your customer service vs customer satisfaction? I feel for you, but as hard as it may be to accept, maybe you need you need to make small changes. Good luck my friend, keep making the positive videos as your insights and passion motivates me to get out and shoot.
I think you get so many support calls is probably because there aren't enough places to do actual archery in most of Australia. If there were more clubs and rangers that were better known, they'd likely go there to ask or sign up for lessons. I'm in the Archery reddit group, and it feels like half the posts are from people asking what the first bow they should get is, while 99% of the answers are always "go seek a some lessons from a club and see what you enjoy first". over and over and over again, it's like people don't even THINK about clubs for this sport.
4 years as a customer and this year , I have had nothing but issue , 3 orders refunded due to no stock, I am a member of a small archery club and too many of my club mates have had issues to all with similar stories , ive been nice , ive given you nice feedback but due to you web site issues with stock level , Im shopping else where , Steve that a you problem , im just a customer that wants to spend my money on archery .
The only complaint about you Is about your sledging of the England cricket team ,, bloody colonial not toeing the line sir 😂, . Seriously always liked the honest reviews etc. You can't please everyone and nor should you try . All in all you seem a good bloke for an Aussie
Archery is such a niche sport and most people get into it because they know someone who shoots or just because it seems cool....and it is cool, or both. Here is the states a lot of the interest is geared toward hunting. Regardless, the main thing is people know squat about it compared to sports like golf. They have no idea how complex it is setting up a bow with proper arrows so their expectations are way out of whack. I know....I was one of them once. There is no way possible you guys could know every little detail about every thing you sell. It is incumbent to some degree on the customers to do their own research and have some idea of what they want to buy before they come into the store. A least IMO anyway. A lot of what you learn about archery you do by meeting other archers or joining a club. Because, like I said, it is that niche sport so information is scarce. Just my three cents. Too be fair mate I think a couple of those complaints might be valid so you need to take the good with the bad brother and be humble enough to admit mistakes and look for ways to improve if you can. Might not be what you want to hear, but there it is. Chris is still and ass !!
Obviously stuck a screwdriver in it to either one turn the peep break the bow down and put a pizza in it something like that cuz I mean what else are you going to do the marks with everybody knows if you pull the boat back a little bit you can put something down in there and relax the string enough to do what you need to do and put it back together people used to do it all the time what a what a POS of a human I definitely would not have let that go but I would have not I would have went straight to the court of law
Some grown adults just wanna act like children haha. It's like when some douchebag abuses maccas workers who are probably half their age and making their food for them. It's friggin pathetic. Your shop will always be the shop of choice for me.
A guy simply doesn't go on making videos with this much transparency if he didn't care that you left his shop with something you'll love.
If I was you I would copy and paste this to Google under Stevens store
Screw all the Karen's and keyboard warriors Steven you guys do an awesome job and the archery community needs people like yourselves .

I like your reviews.
That Aussie honesty comes through.
Unlike a certain US store based reviewer.
Every bow he reviews is the best bow hes ever shot.

I work in Industrial Retail an customer service above and beyond is paramount. Keep up the good work mate. Respect to you for taking the love of archery over money also Steve.
I had worked in retail for over 30 years and I can tell you now the customers are rude and disrespectful full stop and they are also so stupid
The sad part is these same people are confident in their stupidity. i.e. you can't reason with them.
I bought a bow after watching one of your reviews I love it
I have been buying archery gear off you for years. Great prices and never had any problems.
Bought a bow off you about 6 months ago…….keep up the great work…..totally impressed.
Hahaha Love this video. 😂
Your Golden Steven !!
GET DOWN!! THE BOWS ARE ABOUT TO EXPLODE 🧨💥💥
Steve. I brought a bow on your review (Sanliida X10)and my shooting improved over night. I find your reviews insightful and informative. People who bitch don’t have to watch. Opinions are like arseholes mate.
Im a target archer.
I shoot better if I'm hungry.
You cant please everybody. You do the best you can and and thats all you can do. If you were absolutely perfect all of the time you would still get some bad reviews. This is my go to channel for bow reviews because your very thorough and honest. Hang in there!
it's not just shops that suffer from this sadly. Thanks for sharing
How did the company's 4×4
end up on it's roof?
Love the channel and the content brother and screw those dirt bags, keep your head up and keep it movin
I wish we had an archery store like yours here in South Africa
Your store is the best Steve and the staff are awesome and extremely knowledgeable, keep doing what you do.F@%K the haters
The customer service at Olight Australia in NSW is pretty awesome. They do torches instead of archery supplies though.
We need to have a place to leave negative customer reviews, it’s been to long!! Customers all not always correct! They suck!
Probably the same people that want to ban bow hunting.
Brilliant video ...and as for golf shops ...yes yes and yes 😁
There's one thing I can guarantee and that's it's by far and away the best archery store in Australia,
I have 7 compound bows, the oldest being 12 years old. None of the have blown up except the one I dry fired.
Steven's orders are reliable, and usually cheaper...
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
_(Postage costs reflect Life in the Colony, not his business)._
No wonder no one answers the phone when your got all these people ringing with silly questions,
I've tried to ring on a number of times and it does ring out a lot, i did eventually get though and the young fella that answered the phone said that the was very busy and didn't have time to check whether the bow i wanted was in stock or not
Yep, Steve gives great service
Bows absolutely do blow up without being dry fired, limbs fail, strings snap. You should be honest, its rare but can happen. No ones talking about the bow exploding while hanging up, hes talking about it exploding under load while practicing!
Steven this is a question to you but it’s not a dig at you. If a string is old or had a nick in it prior to putting in a case. If string let loose in the case would it do much damage to the bow. Let’s say a 65lb draw. Thank you. Love the videos
I buy all my gear from you. Great service.
Love your videos:
I'll be honest people are lazy. Everything is online. If you try hard enough and put the time in you can be very very knowledgeable and train yourself.
I trained myself, took 7 months to learn everything under the sun.
Ì wish Scotland had an Archery Supplies ❤
I agree bad rewiews...Affect sales...There was a person online that had good prices...but one bad review made me gun shy from buying...But I did it anyway...It didn't affect the sale...but I did write a review against his bad review...If I'm ever in Australia I'll visit your store.
This video won’t help your problem, it’s only going to make things worse.
I agree, only digging a deeper hole. I can honestly see why he got the reviews.
Turn off all ratings and reviews
They are all personal feelings and none is 100% accurate ever. You do great work. Leave it at that and forget any reviews.
If someone is buying a bow and then need it set up, you have to charge for the setup. No matter what job you have ultimately it comes down to we trade our time for money. Im a buisness owner as well, different industry but if im spending time im charging, no expectation.
Wouldn't work, bows are super expensive, if I get no set up I'm 100% going to the other store.
I am sorry ….so sad and frustrating….from an archer and business owner (not archery shop ..thank god )
Worrying about these is probably not good for your health mate.
There’s a reason why I will NOT work with the public ever again, it’s because of those negative reviews you were talking about!!
Do you know how many thousands and thousands of Cycles they put on those limbs on those cams to make sure that this don't happen I think Hoyt Archery still has one of those bows going to this day
•
Steven, where's my PURPLE bow and my PURPLE shirt and my PURPLE target which I ordered 9 hours ago???
Focus on doing a great job everyday and screw the whiners. BTW I would confirm that all commenting on your business were customers.
Steve you need to smoke pot .
The internet is a cowards paradise. The customer isn't always right.
Your time is worth money.
Make a UA-cam video on how to shoot the different types of bows and tell them to watch those videos. In the U.S. you pay xtra for lessons.
Golf store...Yes..Yes.and unfortunately Yes😁
8:08 denis is a stupid customer full stop
Sounds like your son is right. :)
Bloody Dennis the Menace 😂
Bloke is hating on the world isn’t he
