THANK YOU SO MUCH! Those of us with BIID have an uphill fight trying to make others understand what we go through. There's no treatment, no professional help, and therefore it's up to us to bring this to the attention of the medical professionals. Thanks for understanding, and even more thanks for updating your initial reaction to something that is so misunderstood.

Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself - And making a follow up video on this.
For those of us with BIID...Its utter hell, simply put :/ And trying to get help, Get legislation on the matter - Educate people, try and make people understand ((Even when I don't understand it myself..)) Its exhausting.

RhayvenBlood Out of curiosity and you dont need to reply if you feel uncomfortable, are you experiencing BIID or know of anyone that is? If so, I am student located in Des Moines, Iowa and looking for someone who is willing to take part and be comfortable to be involved in a 20-30mins presentation and inform others about thier perspective and answer questions from other students. Do you know of anyone that may be able to help me in that surrounding area.

BIID brings up a lot of complicated feelings for me. I understand what it's like to live in a world where you aren't understood. But as someone who has been visually impaired since birth, for me, the idea of someone in a fully-functioning body who WANTS to disable themselves or be disabled seems at best ungrateful and at worst objectifying (both in sexual and non-sexual ways).
Simply existing in a body with a disability can bring out surprising ugliness in people. Like other minority groups, the community of people with disabilities has its own history, its own burdens, its own baggage, both conscious and subconscious, that goes all the way back to the days when we were considered freaks fit only for fairgrounds and asylums or seen as "God's mistakes or punishments" or the work of demonic forces.
How closely this shadow stalks varies from individual to individual, but personally, it almost swallowed me up as a teenager. I've since learned to cope with it and remind myself that I'm quite happy with how I am and always was until society taught me that my differently-working eyes meant I had a disability. But the shadow of my community's history will always be with me because I came into this world as I did, with the cards the divine dealt me. Knowing so, I gladly walk with this shadow, but why anyone would invite it into their lives, I will never understand. Yet at the same time, I want to extend compassion to those who feel the shadow's presence when others don't see it, because I know how frightening and isolating it can be.
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to express my thoughts properly.
To everybody, no matter what body you were born into or feel you're supposed to be in, I send you love and blessings and I hope that you come to experience life as you wish it without doing harm to yourself. Namaste and blessed be. + )O(

I’m originally from India. Both of my parents are from New Delhi India. This disorder breaks my heart in so many ways that I cannot even begin to explain.
India has been voted as the most corrupted country in Asia. There are criminals in India who kidnap poor children from the streets, poor families, and orphanages and use them for begging.
Sometimes they amputate one of their limbs or blind them so that they can earn more money as disabled or blind beggars. The maimed children are dispersed into different areas during the day and are taken back to the criminals during the evening time. All of the money goes to the gang leaders. The worst part about all this is that the government is not doing anything about the criminals because some of the money used is to bribe the police.
This is still happening as we speak and the government of India is not doing anything about it. The same thing happens in China 🇨🇳
