Seplos MASON 280 Base. How to get my heavy batteries onto the new trolley!?
Вставка

- I enjoyed myself far too much with shifting the two heavy #SEPLOS MASON batteries from the old self-made trolley onto the new wheel base.
What could have been a 10min quick unboxing and 'review' video of the SEPLOS MASON 280 Base, escalated into a 1.5h mission. The batteries are heavy and cannot be moved much by one person, so I had to find solutions to get the job done just by myself. Enjoy Andy MacGyver trying to get the job done...
The SEPLOS wheel base is a great product, very robust and sturdy to carry 3x 280Ah batteries safely.

Hi there Andy
Glad you're not lifting from your back, an easy trick to manipulate these heavy batteries is probably tipping. You could have stood the battery up , mounted the base and tipped to back to the ground with almost no effort. I learned this trick when i was dealing with heavy speakers.

Love your videos Andy. Very entertaining! Please take care your back when carrying such heavy items especially by just one person. The battery unit even slightly heavier than my JBL Project K2 speaker that i attempted to lift all by myself 😭 i fully understand your challenges 😂👍 Install some pulley to help. And i also found hydraulic toe jacks to be helpful when combined with jack stands for auto use.
On the battery connection, my personal preference and inclination is to spread the current load and have multiple connections. Your overall objective should be to keep the current running any point as low as possible. Remember the power loss in transmission is P=I^2xR, reducing the current exponentially drops the power loss in cable. Puts less stress on component, improves longevity and increases reliability.
Love your consideration of the big red 300A Anderson plugs 😍 I have been considering this in my next build as well. Trying to keep everything as compact and mobile as possible is always a handy feature 😘 it improves the flexibility where you can deploy the system.

If you cut a small slot on each bolt thread then it will act like a tap while you screw it in and cut out the paint.

Hi Andy, yes this is heavy work. These boxes with batteries are so heavy. But short question. You are using the Neey Active Balance in this box? For the connection to the busbar, you should connect each seperate to the busbar. Then you can use the full 140A charge current for each bank. But you should connect the different boxes with the rs485 connection. Then you get in victron only one bms with the power of each box.

@@OffGridGarageAustralia time for a hydraulic lift cart? 😃 In the USA, Harbor Freight has decent price for one. IIRC that is where Will Prowse acquired his. Maybe a similar source available to you.
On the Anderson Connectors, get the 'name brand'. I found the China versions were loose and did not have a tight connection. I mounted my battery bank on a hydraulic lift in my RV (former wheelchair accessable Greyhound bus). Since I would need to accomodate the lift dropping/raising, I added the 350amp anderson connectors. I am now moving the bank to a 'luggage bay' as having the batteries on the lift meant I could not use the lift to load appliances and other hefty objects into my bus. Lessons learned!

Hi Andy thanks for al your amazing videos. I have watched almost all your videos in the past month. I have a question about the seplos enclosure. The only thing holding me back buying those seplos enclosures is the bms. I don't like the passive balancer. But another bms in this case takes all other functionality like the screen and canbus. So Have anyone a solid solution to put in an active balancer like the JK bms
I bought a Neey active balancer, deactivate the passive balancer and use it permanently for balancing. Between the BMS and the cells is enough free space for it.
Thanks a lot for binge watching my videos. Wow, that is a lot to take in...
As Andre said, Tte NEEY active balancer will fit into these boxes behind the front panel, no problem. Also the cheap capacitive balancers work a treat with these batteries. Consider a small switch to turn them on twice a year to top balance the cells.

Yep, do 3 smaller Anderson's direct to links system.
OK!
Is it 605mm? Or 593 to the inside edge? Am I confused o is it too much gluhwein?
605
He said 605, but I'm certain he measured to the outside of the plate, it should be 593mm to the inside face. But I've learnt quite a bit since I asked in the previous video, and it really does depend on what foam you use between the cells as to what the total length should be. PS. Andy, thanks for measuring it.
@@TheRonskiman 😀 Yes, it was the measured lenght, we saw the meter, of course the foam needs space.
Cheers.
From the inside of the front plate to the back plate it is 605mm.
The Base is pretty cool. I ordered the EEL Battery Box and the EEL Base. But the Seplos one seems a lot better and more stable. Thanks for your video. Have a nice Christmas time and some S.P.A.T. time :)
@Off-Grid Garage hello Andy the person that keeps impersonated you just sent me a telegrams msg. Saying I want something I no it not you.

Yeah, read this on the DIY Forum....
You have so much money to keep changing batteries to Seplos .... what happens to the recently installed one ?
Thanks for the love. Send me a text on telegram with the username above🔝🔝🔝 You've been shortlisted for my New year giveaway....
Which recently installed one? And no, I don't have so much money. I have a day job and can manage my finances.
nice, but once again: you had complained before like many others about ridiculous high shipping costs
Have they finally found a better solutiioin cause last time they had shipped the BMS separately and then fedex wanted another 60 € for fees already paid.
DHL asked 9€ not 60€ !

Well, I ordered three large boxes and the shipping costs didn't change much from 1 to 3 boxes.
Why use the Anderson connector... Just use the easy to remove plus and minus connectors on the Seplos box and wire directly on the busbar. That's how I planned to do it if my box finaly arrives.
Won't the loose ends of the wires be permanently live, even when disconnected?
@@Full-of-Starships those connectors are insolated, same as they Anderson would be. And if it's a stand alone installation the 'live' part is gone once you disconnect the battery. A main switch or breaker tot disconnect the load will be better

OK, thanks.
For probably the same amount of time and less strain on the body he could have:
1. Partially disassembled the 15kwh battery by removing a couple of cells.
2. lift the remaining on the wheel base.
3. Place the cells back in the case and hook them up again.

If you send me wind, I'll do it. We're in a valley and there is just not enough. Not even for testing it out.
First, finally ! Greetings from cold and wet Germany. Bought 6 high load casters (rolls) to support my 72kWh Nissan Leaf batt (400kg?), they all broke due to long static load. Had to buy a set with >2 times the rated load. Viele Grüße
Are you sure?

It's not that easy when you test such systems as I will need to get access to the batteries from time to time.
I think, as victron lynx way.

Get a individual quote for your address from them. I think they just put a number up on their website for shipping. Cannot be $500!
Rule one to design your battery: check if there are any rules and if so, change country.
