In Fatal Frame games, pressing and holding the run button automatically makes your character run forward. So you don't need to touch the left analog stick, unless you need to walk slowly or change directions.

Honestly, I think the Sixth Generation was the most interesting. Game development cost just under mad levels of money so that devs could experiment a bit more, and tech was just good enough to give us believable worlds to explore. We got some of the absolute best games. I miss it terribly.

Not that it really matters one way or another, but it is the last child to be caught in the demon tag that becomes the rope shrine maiden, as they believe that they had a stronger connection with spirits that allowed them to avoid being caught the longest, and not there natural ability to avoid a blinded and likely in pain woman who people are likely ignoring her plees for rest and/or food just for this ritual.
God I absolutely love this game, and the second; played through them over a few evenings with a couple friends, had a spooky blast (the third is still on our to-do list). Going through this game for my first time now, I never actually beat it as a kid, but I've beaten 2 on Fatal mode and almost cleared 3 on Nightmare as well! Hoping you go through the rest of the series. 3 had a great story.

I just beat this game yesterday... Talk about impeccable timing ! I love your channel, you play either the best games or fascinating games I've never heard of :).
I have it on PS2 and I love the presentation and atmosphere, as well as the idea of fighting ghosts with a camera. That being said I never finished the game. The controls were driving me mad with wasted shots and not being able to get a distance between me and the ghosts without getting hit. It's like if Resident Evil made you go into first person mode with manual aim every time you wanted to shoot or stab an enemy. And the enemies move as normal while you're switching between the user interfaces and adapting to them. This game should've had an auto-aim quick-shot mode - with a toggle between head and torso - and a first person option for detailed critical hit shots. That is shots where you nail that depth of field and shutter speed. Or perhaps different game modes. In photography jargon a hard mode using a fully manual camera and one easy mode using a camera with auto-wind, auto-focus, aperture and shutter speed priority and optional flash. I love my Pentax MX fully manual film camera and it taught me a lot about photography, but as a weapon for capturing ghosts on film I'd go for a point and shoot, say my Pentax PC35AF-M. Ghosts are notoriously difficult to direct in a photo session and lack the patience to wait while you manually change the aperture and shutter speed according to the results of your light meter. You'll die faster than you can say "wait a second until I do a light measurement of the shadow because I'm using a high contrast slow film and I need to get all the details of your apparition."
I like the old intro better, it gave an unease feeling. It was freaking art. New one is also good. I honestly think you have a very rare and special talent. WTF didn't look at your subscriber count for an eternity, despite rewatching your content regularly. I would have made a bet you would be at 150k...
I can confirm Fatal Frame is scary from my vivid memory of finding the second game in a collection of Xbox games when I was a kid, playing it for five minutes and then hiding it in the shed never to be seen again because I was so terrified
As someone who loves FPS, shooters, and action and adventure games. I’ve really appreciated the “you’re not blasting your way out of the situation” games. Walking simulators, story driven, games that aren’t “beat it with a stick” all that, I enjoy those a lot actually. And I mean I am a big dumb FPS player, a survival horror lover, big dumb action fan. I really do enjoy the less “traditional” games. New and old. I thought playing echo nights was a fever dream I had. I’m glad I’m not crazy, and people know it exists. Same with this one and siren.
