      But the planet is going somewhere, it's going around the sun. We're just along for the ride. Terrible planet/ space jokes aside, Carlin was right the planet is not currently doomed, that won't happen for another few billion years. Environmentalism is mostly political fear mongering bundled together with hippie new age nonsense. The only thing I truly hate environment wise are the lazy @$$ people who are too da%^ lazy to throw their garbage away in a can. We're not baboons there's no excuse for littering, especially when there's a garbage can less than five feet away.

    • @CrizzyEyes
      @CrizzyEyes 3 місяці тому +1

      @@lolilollolilol7773 You are, though. "Climate change" is a very old headline, and it has taken many different names over the years. In the 1970s, while Carlin was still alive and even quite hale and hearty, it was posited that the Earth would freeze over. Literally global cooling. It is not that the climate doesn't change, it's that we are extremely arrogant for thinking we have any significant part in it. The climate changes, and we, insignificant little peons that we are, must adapt or die.

    • @THall-vi8cp
      @THall-vi8cp 2 місяці тому

      @CrizzyEyes
      Agreed. The general trends in the climate have very little to do with our actions. What we do can contribute in some small way, but it's far from the big picture. I did notice something interesting, and that was hotter, brighter summers during the lockdowns, when fewer people were driving and particulate pollution was reduced (the system correcting itself). More sun was able to warm the surface. I started looking around online and found out there was an idea floated by a few scientists to erect a massive sunshade (held up by satellites) that would reduce sunlight reaching the surface, thus reducing global warming. Bill Gates promoted (in 2021) the idea of spraying dust into the atmosphere to block sunlight (actually polluting the air). In other words, the air cleaned up and the place got hotter, so these dumbasses wanted to block the sun.
      I'd rather we focus on not polluting the hell out of the place. We have a responsibility to our progeny to leave a decent place for them to live. Doing stupid crap like releasing toxins that poison the environment or throwing garbage into the oceans and killing off plankton (that generate far more oxygen than our plant life) needs to change.
      We can adapt to climate extremes, but if we poison the place we'll die.

    I asked my biology teacher if it was too late to save the planet and this is basically the answer she gave me. She said humans are certainly doomed and our time here is on thin ice, but her main point was that the earth has been here for billions of years and continue to be here with a new wave of life forms, the part I will never forget is her saying that “whether we can ‘save the planet’ is an ignorant question”

    We’re not going anywhere. Humans speak of success and progress, yet we don’t know what we’re really progressing toward.
    I’ll tell you what we’re progressing toward, nothing.
    What do songs progress toward? Nothing
    One doesn’t listen to music for the conclusion, one listens to music for every step of the beat.
    And the reason for music is the joy of listening to the music itself.
    So what’s the point of life? Where’s it going? What’s it headed toward?
    Nowhere. Look around, look at the skies. Everything spins in circles. Even microscopically, everything’s spinning. Look at the electrons and how they dance around the nucleus.
    Look at the earth and how it dances around the sun.
    We’re not going anywhere, it’s all circles.
    It all leads back to itself.
    That’s what we are, self-consciousness. It leads back itself. It all leads back to itself.
