We’re not going anywhere. Humans speak of success and progress, yet we don’t know what we’re really progressing toward. I’ll tell you what we’re progressing toward, nothing. What do songs progress toward? Nothing One doesn’t listen to music for the conclusion, one listens to music for every step of the beat. And the reason for music is the joy of listening to the music itself. So what’s the point of life? Where’s it going? What’s it headed toward? Nowhere. Look around, look at the skies. Everything spins in circles. Even microscopically, everything’s spinning. Look at the electrons and how they dance around the nucleus. Look at the earth and how it dances around the sun. We’re not going anywhere, it’s all circles. It all leads back to itself. That’s what we are, self-consciousness. It leads back itself. It all leads back to itself. Oh this is the smartest lecture i've ever heard! I've seen some travellers on youtube visiting Chernobyl almost 35 years after the nuclear powerplant explosion and the nature was doing just fine. The trees were growing very beautifully. Only they were so radioactive that humans couldn't dare to touch them. Radioactivity was protecting the nature from human.
I agree with the idea of what Carlin says in this video. But I would like to point out that many, many of the species facing extinction in the past few centuries are only in that position due to human intervention. I work in the pest control field and one of the things I'm imminently aware of is that lots of bugs that we depend on to keep nature going are dying out. Lots of pollinators, decomposers, and more.

George Carlin, my all time fave comedian and social observer.
This comedian talks more truth and sense than ANY greedy, self preserving politician ever has.
George Carlin will be having a field day seeing us in 2021 :(

We’re not going anywhere. Humans speak of success and progress, yet we don’t know what we’re really progressing toward.
I’ll tell you what we’re progressing toward, nothing.
What do songs progress toward? Nothing
One doesn’t listen to music for the conclusion, one listens to music for every step of the beat.
If God goes anywhere it’s to itself.
@@720scremastered nah, I don’t listen to Terrence he’s a little too lost in his own world
Mother Nature figured that out eons ago....in order to progress as a species the weak were never meant to survive...I'm not sure if it's a self conscious issue or a self-righteous issue....
@@altrusianwolfdog2564 not sure if there’s a total difference between a self-conscious issue and a self-righteous one
@@altrusianwolfdog2564 We build structures that touch the skies, send people to the moon, and explore the very depths of the ocean even though we haven't evolved within our DNA a single biological feature that would allow us to do so outside of our brain.
To be human is to defy nature itself. We survive because, in our weakness, we collaborate and create strength.
doesn't matter really, either one is fighting the laws of nature and in the end nature always wins. We have had several extinction level events in our history for a myriad of reasons. Just because we became enlightened and audacious enough to think we can control nature means nothing to her...she can shake us off like so many fleas at any time...

Carlin one of the greatest social commentator prophets of the past century. Thanks for this share!!!
Wow! George Carlin was ahead of his time. So relevant right now. Keep it up After Skool! And the art work continues to be amazing! It gives a great visual during the dialogue! 😊👏👏👏
No matter how much we try nature will always be the boss
What an amazing closing. Define little while and he leaves it up to us to interpret brilliant and funny man we miss you George 😁
Thanks to After Skool for this great animation of this ingenious and foresightful performance of the unmatched George Carlin 🙂
George Carlin calls it the Big Electron. Lao Tzu calls it the Tao. Both hold the same view, you don't have to meddle with nature, the Universe will correct itself. As Lao Tzu once said "when nothing is done nothing is left undone."
I feel bad for all the people who have never heard of George
George Carlin is great and your animation really brings it to life. More of him would be appreciated
Huh, never really thought of it that way. I’ll still do my part, but I feel a little better about the state of our planet hearing this perspective.
Human beings can still easily sterilize the earth of all multicellular life until the sun dies in 4 billion years with a runaway green house effect (with enough atmospheric carbon and methane earth can be just like Venus).
What he said is the truth, Climate Change, Save the planet; all bullshit. What they teach in schools is nothing but liberal propaganda.
@@foreveryoungbjj7439 Think you missed the point. It's "all bullshit" if you're totally cool with the human race going extinct I guess. You're a moron if you think climate change is not happening, but yes the rock we live on that we call the earth will be just fine. Not the humans. Are you a human? Maybe you should care then.
That feeling you got, "magnifiy" that shit in a way that's in line with the Universal Principles/Truth and the few that are in control of the many will lose it. Only questioning everything and form new thought patterns gets us forward in harmony. Why? Because in that way, we focus on common denominators rather than the differences between us. Think about it. Paradoxically posing questions gets one further than answers. Emotional intelligence? You got to know Jung, right? What about spiritual intelligence? ua-cam.com/video/L6Rwqp54fIQ/v-deo.htmlm45s
I'll do my part too. When I get my 70's V8, probably a Lincoln Continental. None of that milkfloat crap for me!
The single greatest closing I’ve ever heard…Apropos, poignant, and very intelligent… Thank you sir
I love Carlin's work over time I finally understood why this was his personal favorite comedy bit that he did
He critics so many aspects of society, arrogant unlightent groups and humanity
And the artwork of the video as well as that little transition to real life photos made all the better
Timeless segment.
Amazing I loved every minute of this, Gorge Carlin was one of the GOATs just like Alan Watts.
Yessir! Two of my favorite men to listen to!
❤ Alan.
“Pack your shit, folks”
"Have you ever noticed how other people's stuff is shit, and your own shit is stuff?"
I had a shiver when he began talking about the virus.
It's irrelevant though..A virus with 5% fatality rate at max is a very poor way to exterminate our species if that's earth's plan.
I believe he was referring to AIDS/HIV at the time. But it could probably still be applied to other virus epidemics too. 😊
This is perfect!! I've thought about all these things, I just don't have the vocabulary for it yet. He put all my thoughts into words perfectly. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to hear this! Amazing video!!!
This was the single most amazing thing that I have ever heard!
So phenomenal video! I never thought it that way! Thank you for open my eyes!
"Conquer Your Mind And You Conquer Your World."
- Zeno Of Citium
This was amazing. Everyone should watch it. Really puts things in perspective.
George had three eyes and that third eye knew what the fuck is going on. Funny enough it was Carlin and Alan Watts that woke me the fuck up to the greater dimensions and awareness. thanks for this rad content! love the art and the interpretations
this is beautifully done, you are an exceptional artist
Thank you!
This has always been my favorite george carlin bit. Thank you
Carlin was a genius. You can listen to his comedy from 30 or 40 years ago and it's still true today. I wonder what he would think about the absolute lunacy from some of the people today.
He makes even the darkest of topics hilarious 😂
One of my many favorite bits from one of my favorite comedians....niceeee
I'm imagining Carlin doing a modern version of his _7 words you can't say on TV._ It would be the _7 thousand words you can't say on social media,_ and it would he amazing, and long.

I don't think the modern generations have any idea who Lenny Bruce is, in order to get the reference.

Carlin had a specific bit specifically called _the seven words you can't say on TV._ The same bit that I'm referring to specifically in my comment.
Lenny Bruce doesn't have a bit with that name and it wouldn't even make sense for him to be doing a bit like that because there were literally hundreds of words that you couldn't say on television in the 50s and 60s. Lenny Bruce had some bits about "bad words", but having a bit about "bad words" doesn't mean that he's responsible for the Carlin's bit.

This channel has changed my life. The way I look at everything, has changed because of you. Never quit shining light on true wisdom.
He was genius! Perfected a way to be brutally honest and brutally hilarious with intelligent truths for a foundation to make his creation next level.
GOAT!
Truth to be spoken I found hard hearing it. I mean making fun of environmentalism, of the problems we caused on this earth, of the marvelous natural places we ruined, really? Making fun of those who are really doing something, implying that they actually don't care. Doesn he have something else to joke about? The real problem is that most people lay on their back just complaining or laugh ridiculously at things instead of taking action and make some improvements, even as little as it may be I think it's crucial
Everyone needs to watch this😂🤣👌

This speech of his can be taken in a few ways. I choose to take it with optimism, yet I will still work on reducing my (insert)print on the environment and simplify my life in the process. We all need to enjoy the small things, trust in that all shall pass and end well (on a larger/smaller scale of things) and try our best to become wiser, more useful and a kinder human beings in the process.
We miss you George, you were sorely needed in 2020, but guess what, we still survived!
Optimism is another word for willful ignorance
@@Djewtube Well if one is stuck in pessimism (wilful ignorance from the other end of the spectrum) one needs optimism to pull back to the golden mean. Staying in optimism is as equally bad as staying in pessimism. Any kind of binary thinking leads us to extremes.
