Wow, the memories! It's been so long since I've thought about those books. I love those stories, no real world political agenda, all fantasy and endless adventure. Not to mention that they always sparked ideas for D&D adventures of course. Some are pretty difficult to find nowadays though, I would love it if WOTC released them as PDFs eventually. And yes, sadly, those old paperbacks are constantly falling apart, even my best taken care of books from that time, become yellowish and accumulate scuff marks like crazy.
I've read three harpers book. Spellfire was my first with this book being my second. I love the forgotten realms but this series has several series in it and I'd recommend anyone reading the harpers books to read the sub series in order. What I mean is shandrils saga takes place in the harpers series and is a series in itself...ahaha confusing I know
I really enjoyed this book too. I remember the first time I read it, I had gotten so used to reading books that just weren't all that well written, and so I found reading Elfshadow to feel 'clunky'. It wasn't until I was quite far into the book that I realised it wasn't that the writing was clunky, it was that it was well-written and deserved to be read with full attention and there was a lot being conveyed with the words. It wasn't that it was poorly written, it was that I was reading it poorly, from being so used to poorly written books.
Thanks for the very kind and quite amusing review. Your observation that "Arilyn is meaner than a snake" made me chuckle.
This is currently my first book I'm reading that is based on the forgotten realms, and I am loving it!

The sequel to this I'm reading right now. I'd recommend reading this series within a series. It is really really good
Great series of books!!
I just got a copy of this and was looking for a review, thanks for the great video, it really helped as an introduction to the book.

My second favorite book (right after Elf Song, the sequel you mention).
I really enjoyed this book too.

Hey Stephen, what happened to your video where you gave tips on how to clean up books?
It went private for a minute. It's public again.
Are you from Ohio? Toledo Public Library has huge Sales every few months. Probable where that book came from... very nice
That video was filmed in Boise, Idaho.
I got The ElfShadow book I read 📚 it and it's great. 😀👍
Where do you buy your books in bulk?
Usually Mercari and ebay
Hmm haven’t read that one.
I don’t read much anymore, too much time on UA-cam 😝
