That's interesting that they think the Team Liquid style this playoffs is to wait for teams to make mistakes. Team Liquid seems very proactive and forcing advantageous fights in every series. Way more active than last years TSM. I really disagree with that sentiment.
I agree with your take. One of the big changes in TL from spring to summer is that TL almost always does a pre 10 minute dive usually on top lane. Especially in their dominant play off wins TL dive top, take herald, get a 2k+ gold lead by 15, win 1 team fight and have a 5-6k lead by 20 minutes. The C9 series was the cleanest where all their wins were sub 30 minutes and each was faster than the last. 100T is the only team that can compete with them in the early game (largely because of closer) but TL is just better at team fighting than 100T because Alphari is better than Ssumday and Core is better than Huhi. That said both Ssumday and Huhi are good players.

I'm going to be honest. I watch more NA than anything, and I've been a Cloud 9 fan ever since they came onto the scene. However, looking at the west right now, Mad Lions is BY FAR our best hope to see a western team win worlds right now, and I actually think they could be our next G2! We'll see what happens!
Thoroughly agree with Thorin's point about getting Elements (or Alliance, as they were called at the time), and I've been having those exact same vibes myself. It just seems like a perfect fit and an easy upgrade, yet the results are underwhelming, to say the least.
2:44:00 The real issue should be, that the 16-18 year old kids, which start their career and spend a lot of time, still get a somewhat decent High School Education (I know oxymoron...). So they can go to a decent college, when their career fizzles out. In European Sport, this is the standard procedure: you go to the Academy of a more or less famous team, which takes care of soccer and school for you. If NA ever wants to develop homegrown talent, TSM and C9 need to cooperate with High Schools and get the talented 15-year-old solo que players in an environment, where they can combine education and organized practice...
They hosted Eurovision in Ahoy Rotterdam this year with a crowd. The Eu finals have been there a couple of times wouldn't surprise me if they would host part of it there. You don't need to wear a mask inside and getting a test is pretty easy as well. But we will see
I always said, that Doublelift is the best ADC in NA for 51 weeks of the year... but in week 2 of the group stage at Worlds, Sneaky somehow outperforms him every time...
@@PassivesAbseits it’s kinda nuts how much c9 does better than any team NA ever has sent. Sneaky prior to 2019 worlds had the most games played and wins at worlds history due to how often they were in groups lol. But still no denying the dude was our only consistent hope at international events
that whole C9 roster was one of the best teams weve ever had from NA. They rose up through the ranks of the Challenger scene and had played together for a long time. They trusted each other, and knew each others weaknesses. They had Hai who was a pretty good shot caller. Sneaky obviously lasted longer than the other members of that original roster but they had something not a lot of teams in NA have which is chemistry. They enjoyed playing together and had fun.
Right.. got to the end and you guys brought up the western goat shit again, didn't mention Caps and had me screaming at the screen. Good job. Thoroughly baited.
Wdym? Lpl would suffer the most from an earlier worlds considering how long their summer season is with the playoff system they use. Just think about the burnout
I don’t particularly like Japanese media as the narrative often revolves around fan interaction and payoff (shonen hype in the west is egregious) , but I read Berserk and think it might be one of the best pieces of art I’ve ever experienced.
@@sleven8013 I can understand that, but there are a few exceptions to that and on top of that, anime and manga being weird in its own way means there are things in there you can't get anywhere else, some of those end up being masterpiece in more than just their own medium
Was Rekkles actually that good? Seeing that Hylissang without Rekkles is the best bot lane in the west and looking at Rekkles in G2 as a decently good bot lane makes me think that it was more Hylissang than Rekkles all this time.
@@santiagoley6403 its his primary job, of course if we are judging him for this season there is also the part where Mickyx has been wonky, caps has been wonky and wunder has been bad and the team hasnt had an identity
2:39:38 the longer time passes on that Griffin fallout the more it becomes even more of a tragedy for the LCK, and if Chovy left for the LPL then Korea wouldve lost the entire Triple G (Griffin's Golden Generation) to China
@Brian Kim you right but also both of em are who I heard all that GRF "government are now looking into em bc CVMax was doin up honestly typical sports coach behaviours" internal explosion from I think they meant during their time in GRF that Sword/Doran were liabilities in games and can't fault, I remem that top matchup was always option #1 on how teams would approach beating GRF
From a swede, the travel restrictions have been super loose all throughout the pandemic. So wouldn’t be surprised if it was held here. Also, the European Union allow free travel for all people with the vaccine (probably only the ones used in the eu though)
It depends on how they try to set it up. TI went through The Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) which isn't the right choice, RF has by-laws that excludes e-sports because they are the "idrotts" confederation which doesn't include all "sport" (both being Swedish words). I'm not sure if it's possible to get permissions through other confederations though, probably not possible to have it as a "sports event" though. Might be possible as culture or smth but I don't really know which organisations can issue liscences.
i have said it before,, getting rekkles for G2, in my opinion was a mistake, he is a solid ADC, and really stable, but thats it, he dont rise above the ocation in my opinion and the few times he gets to shine its cuz hes team set it up for him, nad not cuz he himself did something really amazing, and i kinda felt that was the case already in fanatic. there is a reson they where never able to really beat G2, and they lost that when they lost perkz and took rekkles, if im not wrong he even said he had issues in the beginning cuz they operated in the exact opposite way of what he is used/likes to and that he had to adapt, and that in itself is a huge step downwards when it comes to the chemistry, so i dont agree the perkz was the X-factor, but i do agree that the dynamic with perkz in the the team created the X-factor due to the similar way they wanted to play the game. i dont think rekkles fits into that playstyle with enjoyment, and as was seen in the final with Fntic vs Mad Lions, even in the 2d game mad,s where laughing having fun and enjoyed the game, thats exactly what G2 used to be like aswell, since perkz left they look a lot more serious when playing, and a lot less happy unless they win, so i mostly think it comes down to the dynamic, and the fact that rekkles is a solid adc but not really much more then that, he dont go out of hes way to find those angles, or make super plays unless hes team sett it up for him, and thereby dont really bring much clutch gamescape to the team,
I was in summer classes at FSU so I went to MSI. To be honest I was shocked that they would hold MSI In such an awful city with nothing to do but drinking and football
My god you guys aren’t watching TL playoffs they’ve been proactive and forcing errors and kills they have not been sitting around waiting just look at there losses those were games they could’ve won had they waited for mistakes but they’re constantly trying to push the other teams into mistakes
Thorin had a watch party for TL vs 100T and in that series what he said was somewhat correct. In TLs games against TSM and C9 they were incredibly proactive though.
@@jaredwhite6041 I would say during the 100t series they gave TL less opportunity to go ham it’s why that series was pretty good also I think TL underestimated them seeing as how all the players talk how they thought it was TSM and C9 were the real competition but I’ll agree they were a bit slower on the 100t series
Too many issues with g2 but the worst of it was caps underperforming. 1st change tho would be Wunder and maybe their draft can be improved so add a coach or replace a coach? Wunder is out of form for too long.
Treatz could be a support (with leadership skills) for Rogue, but also for G2. Something like Wunder, Jankos, Mikyx -> BrokenBlade, ???, Treatz would be interesting for G2
@Adam Hájek He got roleswapped to jungle due to his communication skills and shot calling, that was told in several interviews and the crackdown with Jesiz
I mean TSM was one elder dragon fight away from the 3-0, but when they lost that game it was gg, perkz doesn'y lose game 4 and game 5 what can ya do! I think for the roster they had and considering it was Bjergsen's first year coaching they did reasonably well and were 1 team fight away from worlds. I think it would've been more embarrassing for C9 if they had lost (especially a 3-0) due to them winning spring and signing Perkz (plus if he didnt make it to worlds for the first time in his career in NA after saying the region is trash that woulda been a good meme).
4:30 Are they talking about the Chinese government crackdown on tech companies where they have these crazy legislation and Tencent is paying "social aid" or something? Because I wanted to read up on this topic and couldn't find anything about the 50% profit clip off.
Thorin mentions bad stories in "Anime" , I recommend "Kingdom" , it's a historical manga based in china in the period of War-ing states. There are a number of real life characters, but as well as that it's over the top super-hero like. The focus is on politics and generals and the manga follows a story of a slave boy who aim to become a great general.
@@jaredwhite6041 Yes sometimes when the main character does something stupid, but this isn't bad "storytelling" , he is a stupid youngster with a one track mind. His companions are farmers and rogues for the most part. That is expected. Everything outside of main character goofs is pretty serious imo.
@@Jaime_Protein_Cannister I was mostly refering to when he is, spoilers, “revived” somehow. Thats one of the only portions where I was kind of cringing a bit.
@@jaredwhite6041 I don't believe it was explicitly stated that he died , what was stated is that she transferred her lifeforce to save him, which is pretty common in Chinese folklore. You know the whole idea of Qi. People often think main characters to be too lucky, but without a form of plot armor or moments of extreme luck ,the story would end on the MC catching a stray arrow and dying at his very first expedition.
Im pretty sure you can organize stuff like this in the Netherlands with 750 people. They will not make profit from it tho, but i think riot can afford it.
42:00:00 The real question is: What happens, if Sylas steals Viegos Ultimate? Also, how can you not mention Aphelios, when you talk about power creep. Remember, when you had to pick Sivir or Draven or Jinx or Heimerdinger? That champ is out for over a year, and I still have no clue, what he does when...
It’s a shame you didn’t delve deeper into the whole G2 Rekkles debacle. Maybe they have no behind the scenes to rely on, but Rekkles joining Alliance, crash and burn and then joining G2 to basically the same effect is uncanny. Of course there are a lot of factors behind it, but the result being the same in two cases of Rekkles joining a “super team” (or at least on the paper better) and failing to succeed probably weighs down on the guy’s mind at this point as well, because the effect is so blatant. You can investigate gameplay, player performance, teamplay synergy and game meta all you want but more often than not, team success is more reliant on team environment and just how people vibe with each other. There’s something to analyze here. Rekkles might bring all the wrong intangibles. He doesn’t even have to be a bad guy or anything, but just his name attached to the team can do something with the atmosphere in the team.
2:38:20 .. I think Caps is more suited for top lane, he is most dominant lane player by all 3 and he play top as much as mid in his soloq games,he is high challenger and he plays jayce ,fiora, irelia, rene etc . and he have high winrate with them. And i think he is worst than chovy and doinb in mid jungle duo.And i have feeling that he might go to top lane next year and g2 will bring new mid laner .
Which is although a meta problem, because many of his champions (casters) are just not viable atm. Riot shot themselfs in the foot with the patches of the past 1 - 2 years.
@@graveplot867 Oh sorry, so let me explain. ^^ To me the meta is kinda forced and they don't have as much options as they used to in theire best years, which is a general problem in league atm. Caps is hit by that too, because he does not have as much space for errors as he used to and some of his champions are just not viable anymore. At least so it seems to me.
45:23 G2 was not known to make the correct decision. They were known to force whatever decision they made to be the correct decision. Those decisions could have gone either way for any other team but G2 forced it to be on their way most of the time.
What many people don't seem to understand about G2 is, that they love the chaos and being creative with theire picks, but that is the problem with league for the past 1 - 2 years now: it's kinda strickt and pretty... dull? I don't know what word to use when speaking about how League feels right now, i can only say that i know a lot of people (me including) who hate League in it's current state and most of my friends just stopped playing or watching.
That thoorin comment about drag.. is literally just out of his ass. Thats not true at all in N.A. playoffs you've seen plenty of times teams just walk away from dragons and wait to outscale.
Well the question why bring everyone to drag if you think you are not ready to fight anyway. You bring all 5 you look at the opponent team and watch them finish the drake and then gi back to catching side lanes. Like wtf
Berserk is a really good manga but the animated series are not that great (like them too). Watch Monster if you want to watch a good anime, Cowboy Bebop, the remake of the Evangelion movies is great, Hajime no Ippo (boxing one). Those are worth watching and different from the classic animes that most people watch.
This "import" narrative from NA is actually just shallow Jensen and Sven should not really be considered "imports" anymore. Closer, FBI, and Fudge (probably the best performing imports, aside from coreJJ) are from minor regions...so yes, imports. but it breaks your "on paper" narrative, MC. So, actually NA is sending 7 out of 15 "classical" imports...according to the established narrative
They could have put Worlds in Japan. Japan just hosted the Summer Olympics. Riot is being dumb about stadiums. Summerslam just happened and there was over 50,000 people in attendance. Half the audience wore masks, half didn't. Nobody cared. They were there for the event.
I confess, Rekkles fan over FNC fan, but if we talk only bout orgs, yet it's still FNC over G2, but for Rekkles sama we need to root for G2. That's our burden.
G2 should try to get Alphari at top, and steal Elyoya from MAD. Maybe try to get Kaiser as well idk about Mikyx Alphari Elyoya Caps Rekkles Kaiser/Mikyx
That last comment by thorin was so stupid. Okay just name people YOU PERSONALLY find annoying that shitloads of people really enjoy, tak them out of their eSports diminishing viewership... What? Ok thorin you hate these people, just say that and stop beatin round the bush
I mean, would you trust a referee to pause the game against a Chinese team at Worlds when Tencent has to pay money for the Chinese government? Fuck no... I get that it is abusable as monte said, but trusting Riot/Tencent is impossible... Players should be able to pause for every bug but when it is not a bug, or the infamous bathroom break in NA orgs and players should be punished. In the NBA if you ask for a timeout when you don't have one, you are awarded a technical Foul and the opposing team gets the possession.
Do you even know what anti-monopoly is, so it's ok for European union to charge company like apple with anti-monopoly tax but no China? what's the logic here behind the distrust, Tencent's largest shareholder isn't even the Chinese, it is a group from south Africa, presumably Jews, just because the western media runs the garbage propaganda that China is big and bad, doesn't mean it is actually worse or better than other government, for one china didn't invade or intervene every few years in middle east like US did at least, I mean these ideology bullshit seems to get more and more into these videos, last couple of video monte and thorin were telling me getting money to promote US army is fine, I mean what... Less political BS will be appreciated, they really don't know what they are talking about when it comes to politcs.
Tallahassee is where Florida State Univ is. And Florida, Georgia, and Alabama all have a million Universities and smaller colleges within a 5-6 hour drive of Tallahassee so the location itself wasn’t awful. U of Florida, U of Georgia, U of Alabama, U of Alabama Birmingham, Georgia Tech, U of Tampa and a whole bunch of other smaller schools are all within that range.
They said that on-paper everything made sense and it seemed like a good idea, but the problem was execution because Riot held MSI after all the schools you listed were off for summer break and all the college kids went home lmfao.

You guys seriously think perkz is ahead of caps? Caps has won 6 lec titles in a row, advancing worlds finals back to back, msi MVP, multiple lec MVP. Caps has to be the western GOAT come on. Him just being in the LEC made the reigon so much better
It's amazing... they say it's TL style to wait for other teams to int. Meanwhile the only reason C9 is still in the playoffs is because of the double-elimination bracket which gives them a second chance, and what did they do with their second chance? Perkz ran it down the first three games and made it so that their only win condition was to pray for TSM to int. As we all know, TSM inted away what would have been a clean 3-0 sweep and the rest is history. But no mention of that here, it's TL that waits for other teams to int. smh.
Monte i’ve been watching you since season 3 OGN days and pretty much the inception of summoning insight, so i’ve always been a big fan - but in all honesty you sometimes contradict yourself. You saying you love metas when ADCs are weak and proceeding to explain just doesn’t make any sense next to your own ideology about what League of Legends is supposed to be. You’ve always been a person who loves slow and methodical League, how it should be a ramp up and early game about macro decisions, back in season 2-4, akin to Korean meta, which i really admire because i have a similar mindset. But in this particular topic proceed to dismiss the thing that identifies botlane as botlane. Support babysitting adc until adc is powerful enough to carry. And support has become more and more powerful throughout the years making this already easier. Botlane has always been like this, so why change your opinion on it. And i don’t accept the usual excuse you and Thorin put out to counter this “Yeah as if metas always the same and opinions should stay the same forever, these fans are nuts. They will find a tweet from 10 yrs ago, etc.” wont work here when the thing i’m addressing is YOUR true ideology about how the game should be played (which has not changed), about slow and methodical strategy side and not the frantic high octane shitshow that we have today. And changing adc to be more fast paced or scale faster goes against the identity of botlane and therefore your own ideology and steers ever so slightly away from “perfect league of legends”.,
Perkz western goat is true, can't take away his past accomplishments, but he's not playing at that level anymore. He was destroyed in the playoffs by TL, completely embarrassed by Jensen, and then ran down the first three games vs TSM, made it so the only win condition for his team was to pray for a TSM throw, and throw they did, otherwise TSM would have swept them 3-0. There's no accountability for his inting, they just see him playing great in the remaining games 4 and 5, but completely forget he ran it down the first three games. Amazing.
@@anthonyortiz7924 Perkz holding accountability over himself plays greatly into other's perception of him as the western goat. People see his after game interview where he admits he inted the first few games but only focus on his comments about his team having the better mental. Hell, they have to have great mentals dealing with their chaotic play styles in the top half of the map.
@@disturbed1734 That's not what going on though, they're giving him free pass after free pass. Imagine what the media would say if Michael Jordan had been stomped, viciously stomped, in a one sided playoff series? What would happen if their playoffs allowed him a second chance, and Michael Jordan completely runs it down three games in a row, making it so they have to pray for a miracle throw from the other team or the season is over? What would the caster desk be like if that ever happened? What would the caster desk look like if someone styled on Jordan the way Jensen styled on Perkz in that Lee Sin 1v3? Listen to Monte's interview with Perkz after he lost to TL, there was no admitting anything, he was basically saying that one-sided loss meant nothing, they're better than TL, they'll show them next time they meet. Then he goes on to do what he did in the TSM games. Cmon man. If we're going to celebrate the hero plays, let's be objective about the crushing ints.
3 LCS players are from NA, no wonder you are our 3rd league (behind EU Masters)... maybe you should remove last 3 and you will become 2nd. Joke a side, that is terrible fact, millions throwing for mercenaries which came there for sun and retirement fond. How some kid can have any dream of playing in pro league coz he knows there is no way for a shoot in NA
I think if a player pauses and it turns out not to be a bug, glitch, or equipment issue I'm fine with them pausing. But if it is just how the game works, like FNC's pauses, they should be penalized. Something like 2500g; 500g to each member of the other team. If you don't know all Ryze's interactions maybe you shouldn't be playing Ryze on stage or suck it up and deal with you imperfect knowledge of the game/champion. I understand there are rare interactions but still it's your fault as the game acted as intended. Maybe give them one oopsie per series but there should be a penalty for pausing when it isn't the game's fault. It would cut down on the 'oh maybe something happened' pauses because you didn't like the outcome of a fight. Tom Brady can't stop the game in the middle of a play because he thought maybe the ball was over inflated.
Definitely hope Monte goes and retrieves those old games. If it's all stored on physical drives, they have a way of getting misplaced, lost, damaged or otherwise fail. Also, as a long suffering CLG fan, a rebranding would be fantastic. I could stop following the team altogether, instead of vaguely clinging to the hope one day Hotshot returns to restore some kind of sanity to the organization. Which, for his sake, is probably not the move to make, even if MSG ever pulled its head out of its nether regions.

Game 2 of TSM vs C9, was literally what monte described perkz does.. but yet said C9 doesn't have it. they've actually done it a lot.

From a swede, the travel restrictions have been super loose all throughout the pandemic. So wouldn’t be surprised if it was held here.
Also, the European Union allow free travel for all people with the vaccine (probably only the ones used in the eu though)
Also, Ireland just held a sports game live with 30,000 people +
It depends on how they try to set it up.
@@NotASummoner that is fair, it all does appear like a big mess
treatz is such a great guy
i have said it before,, getting rekkles for G2, in my opinion was a mistake, he is a solid ADC, and really stable, but thats it, he dont rise above the ocation in my opinion
and the few times he gets to shine its cuz hes team set it up for him, nad not cuz he himself did something really amazing, and i kinda felt that was the case already in fanatic.
there is a reson they where never able to really beat G2, and they lost that when they lost perkz and took rekkles,
if im not wrong he even said he had issues in the beginning cuz they operated in the exact opposite way of what he is used/likes to and that he had to adapt, and that in itself is a huge step downwards when it comes to the chemistry,
so i dont agree the perkz was the X-factor, but i do agree that the dynamic with perkz in the the team created the X-factor due to the similar way they wanted to play the game.
i dont think rekkles fits into that playstyle with enjoyment,
and as was seen in the final with Fntic vs Mad Lions, even in the 2d game mad,s where laughing having fun and enjoyed the game, thats exactly what G2 used to be like aswell,
since perkz left they look a lot more serious when playing, and a lot less happy unless they win,
so i mostly think it comes down to the dynamic, and the fact that rekkles is a solid adc but not really much more then that, he dont go out of hes way to find those angles,
or make super plays unless hes team sett it up for him, and thereby dont really bring much clutch gamescape to the team,
3:20, this is off topic, but I haven't heard of this anywhere before? Is this true?

I think for the roster they had and considering it was Bjergsen's first year coaching they did reasonably well and were 1 team fight away from worlds.

2:38:20 .. What many people don't seem to understand about G2 is, that they love the chaos and being creative with theire picks, but that is the problem with league for the past 1 - 2 years now: it's kinda strickt and pretty... dull?
And changing adc to be more fast paced or scale faster goes against the identity of botlane and therefore your own ideology and steers ever so slightly away from “perfect league of legends”.,
Perkz western goat is such a weird take when Caps has been to worlds final on 2 different teams.
Perkz consistently makes it to world's, can't say the same about Caps now.

I think Tom Brady would know whether a ball was overinflated or not.
